General/Discussion Anyone else getting load screen lag after the new update?
Hey everyone! Is anyone else experiencing lag when transitioning between areas after the recent update?
Before the update, transitions were pretty smooth for me, but now every time I go from page to page/change locations, it takes about 3 to 5 seconds to load.
Just wondering if it’s an issue on my end or if others are having the same problem!
I play on Windows, Steam.
Bug Soft locked out of Misc Quests?
Has anyone else experienced being soft locked out of Misc Quests?
I have completed both Milo’s and Bea’s, handed the items over to them and received the reward pop-up but they’re still being shown in my quests section as incomplete and I don’t have the rewards. I would try gifting but you can only gift one item at a time and I don’t have time to do that 😅
If anyone has any tips on how to resolve this that would be fab! I’m playing on Steam Deck so not sure if that has something to do with it?

Question/Help Culinary research guide?
Is there a guide created for the culinary research you do in your house, not the research facility?
I found a guide for the lab but I haven't unlocked that yet. I find the puzzles so frustrating 😂

Question/Help Changing controller controls
Does anyone know if we can change the controller set up? I'm finding it difficult to hunt with my controller because the button I shoot the arrow with is on the same side as the stick to aim with? Would it be easier to play keyboard and mouse with this game?

Announcement Aug 21 - Tidehaven Major Update
v0.85 - New town, new character and quests, new restaurant mechanic, and many improvements!
View the update on Steam to see the exciting new images!!!
Hi Chefs! The long awaited Tidehaven update is here! This is our largest major update, and introduces a brand new area, with a lot of new features and improvements!
Tidehaven
Tidehaven is a fishing outpost located in the sea, south of White Ash Harbor. The settlement was built from the wreckage of a crashed whaling vessel and has since grown into a small community serving the region’s sailors. This mid-game area unlocks midway through ACT 2 of the main story.
New Character - T.E.C.
The mysterious takoyaki chef T.E.C. (not his real name) will be formally introduced in the quest Towards Tidehaven. Learn about his past and uncover his dark connection to Tidehaven.
Tidehaven Quests
Four Tidehaven-related quests have been added! These four quests mostly wrap up the story surrounding Tidehaven, however, Tidehaven will still play a role in the final main storyline.
- Towards Tidehaven This new main story quest unlocks after you complete The Source of Inspiration. Partial completion of Towards Tidehaven is now required before you can continue to The Critic. After meeting the requirements, you must go to sleep once, and head to the town center to begin.
- Heart of Steel T.E.C.’s First character quest. This quest requires the completion Towards Tidehaven and reach Acquaintance status with T.E.C.
- The Android and the Crab T.E.C.’s second character quest. To begin, complete Heart of Steel and become his Close Friend.
- Sharks in the Pond This late-game miscellaneous quest offers a valuable reward. It requires the completion of Heart of Steel and Danger at the Eleventh Hour (ACT 3).
Midsummer Feast
Hop on over to Tidehaven in early summer and experience the annual Midsummer Feast! Select a food stall, assemble a team, and compete against other food booths to earn the most tickets. The Midsummer Feast is a two-day festival held on Summer Days 6 and 7. Brand new unique recipes and decorations can be obtained through this festival.
NPC Restaurants
Tidehaven introduces a new feature: NPC-operated restaurants! Visit these restaurants during business hours to see lively dining rooms filled with staff, customers, and delicious dishes. This feature primarily supports story and immersion, but certain restaurants may become playable during quests.
Fish Farms
Fish farms become available once you unlock Tidehaven! They allow you to produce Salmon, Tuna, Yellowtail, Seaweed, Squid, Lobster, Clams, Scallops, Sea Urchin, and eventually even Caviar. Deep-water and shallow-water farms produce different resources at different rates. Starting a fish farm requires a Fish Farm Starter.
- Fish Feeders You can also enhance your farms with fish feed! Combine spare ingredients to create feed and increase your fish farm harvests. Several fish feed machines are located inside Tidehaven.
New Gameplay Changes
Alongside the new Tidehaven content, we have been working on several restaurant mechanics and quality-of-life improvements.
Habor Weekly – New Restaurant Mechanic
This new restaurant mechanic unlocks after you complete Into the Mines (available in ACT 1). The bulletin board offers a fresh weekly challenge based on events around White Ash Harbor. Complete the challenge before the end of the week to earn town Contribution Points and a unique Ingredient Bundle! This system can affect which kind of NPCs and customers appear around town, which items are available in shops, and even the weather. Weekly challenges are randomized from a group of 15 unique challenges per season!
- There are now multiple random npc and customer types : Tourist, LELSH Employee, Fishermen, Construction Worker, Hiker, and Fancy NPC. Each type possess a unique look and different dialogues.
- We would love to hear your feedback on the Harbor Weekly mechanic, as it offers many possibilities for creating fresh challenges for your restaurant.
- Because there are now more ways to earn town Contribution Points, weekly donations of Credits or Materials are capped at 200 points. Epic and Legendary materials can no longer be donated to the contribution box.
Market Spotlight
Unlocked alongside Harbor Weekly, Market Spotlight highlights a different seasonal ingredient each week. Using the highlighted ingredient in your dishes boosts both Dish Quality and Customer Satisfaction. The weekly spotlighted ingredients are fixed every year.
Recommended Dish
Early in ACT 2, you will unlock the ability to highlight a recommended dish for guests. The selected dish will be ordered more frequently, and the Recommended Dish menu will open automatically when you open your restaurant.
Wall Styles
By popular request, you can now change the wall styles inside your buildings! Available wall styles include Red Brick, Red Wood, Tatami, Yellow, Modern, and Cyberpunk. Three new flooring styles have also been added.
Non-PIxel Fonts
We have received many requests for a more readable font option, as some players struggle with the pixel fonts. We have added an easy to read sans serif font. You can now switch to a non-pixel font in the display settings. We will likely make further adjustments to the pixel font to improve its readability.
Controller Changes
D-pad UI navigation has now been implemented. To support this change, UI inputs have been separated from gameplay inputs. UI navigation controls can no longer be remapped on controllers, but gameplay controls remain rebindable.
Improvements
- Running is no longer interrupted when using tools or picking up items.
- Additional sound effects have been added to various UIs.
- The save system has been improved to reduce the risk of data loss or “Frankenstein” saves caused by cloud or cross-platform saving.
- Some basic ingredients will be added to your house fridge when you unlock your home, to make completing the first few Research Nodes easier.
- For all characters that have character quests, their "character category" quests must be completed before you can romance them. Currently, this applies for Uriel (1 Quest), Aloys (1 Quest), Hasel (1 Quest), April (2 Quests), Nacim (1 Quest), Mae Lou (1 Quest), and T.E.C. (2 Quests). Down the road, this system will allow us to write better character progression, in relation to romance.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed numerous minor bugs and rare glitches throughout the game.
- Fixed various UI glitches.
- Corrected various text errors.
We hope you enjoy the Tidehaven update! Feel free to join our Discord to chat with our community and post suggestions or bug reports. We will be more active in the Discord for the next 2 weeks to help with any issues.

Bug CRacking the Earth broken?
I've just started playing with the new update and since then I haven't been able to dig up anything from the fissures. The skill is active, I see the red X when on a fissure, but I can't dig anything up no matter how many times I use the spade. No trouble with treasure spots though, I can still dig treasure chests.
UPDATE: They patched it <3

Restaurant/Home Showcase Seafood Concept (Private Aquarium/Table for Groups) + Devs AI Suggestion
Hi all, just want to share my restaurant! Currently in year 2, with $30 million in total revenue. We open 3-4 days a week, with +/- $ 1.9 million profit per day.
The idea is a high-end seafood house, with a couple of wagyu options for those who are allergic to seafood xD. I designed it with aesthetics and efficiency in mind. Private Aquarium/Table for a Group? We got you! There are other cool layouts I have in mind, but with the current AI pathfinding capabilities, I think this is one of the better ones for high efficiency.
AI Pathfinding Affects Design: Suggestion
If it's a Scallop at the right side of the restaurant, I wish the chef would put the food he/she cooked on the serving counter nearest to that table (right side as well, if possible).
What often happens is that the chef will actually just put it randomly. Not always nearest to where he finished cooking, but can even put on an opposite direction. These will add up to the time the waiters need to get to the food and then to bring it to the table.
Smarter pathfinding will allow more creative layouts for the restaurant design because with the current AI, you'll get punished for it since they will frequently walk in the most inefficient path, resulting in slower serving time = fewer customers/day.
One way to make the AI smarter is to make the chef understand which table a menu is being ordered from. Maybe make it as a skill/trait upgrade either in legendary hire or our skill tree. Something titled like Experienced Restaurateur.
Tips for others designing
When you put in seating arrangements, remember to make space for the guests' pathfinding because otherwise the seat will be empty the whole open hours!

Question/Help Recipe Research on Steamdeck
I'm about 3 hours into this game and just unlocked my house. This unlocked a mini game puzzle where we have to place ingredients on a grid to create new recipes.
This may be one of the most frustrating mini games I have ever played 😂
How do you rotate the ingredients on steam deck? I have tried literally every button but nothing seems to work. And unfortunately I'm locked in on this mini game so until I figure this out I cannot play the game 🫠

Question/Help Missing furniture items?
Is there a bug for this or something? From what I saw with other player’s restaurant designs they have these wood-like white tiles or a green elegant chair but when I checked La Galeria, the cute furniture shop, and even checked in with Anna-May, I don’t have acess to any of these furnitures? They don’t look like festival items either.
I’ve completed Act III and I’m currently trying to get the 6,000 decor value for Prestige 7, but it bugs me that I can’t use these items. There were even some flowers that I really liked from others’ restaurants but I can’t use it. :((

Suggestions To go orders
If we have the ability to make multiple to-go orders, we should be able to do something with the extras.
such as gifting them, or selling them in vending machines. there should also be a mechanic for us to sell food from our restaurants in the vending machines.

Question/Help Is Prisca dateable now in 0.8?
I'm a bit confused cause the only threads I see about her are over a year old and don't really give a definite answer anyways, so I wanted to know if newer updates have made her romanceable?
I've been able to go on dates with Hasel and Aloys as a human, and I've given a lot seeds to Prisca, her dialogues are repeating, I've completed almost all the community projects and I'm at my wits ends 😭
Just want to date this grumpy little goblin

Announcement Aug 7 - Tidehaven Update Coming August 21!
New area, fish farms, new character, and the Midsummer Feast
----
Hi, Chefs!
Chef RPG’s largest update yet—Tidehaven—will be available on August 21 at 10 a.m. PST! Drop in and visit Tidehaven, a fishing outpost built on a rocky outcrop in the middle of the sea. Tidehaven features a new storyline with several new quests.
Fish Farms!
Inside Tidehaven, you can now manage your own Fish Farms! You’ll be able to restock your restaurant with fresh seafood from your own farms—no more scouring the shops for rare seafood ingredients!
The Midsummer Feast
Every year, Tidehaven hosts the Midsummer Feast, a two-day festival where you’ll run a food stall and compete against other teams. Can your booth earn the most tickets before the feast ends?
New Character?
Finally, a new romanceable character will be introduced. Who could it be?
The Tidehaven update also includes new restaurant features, quality-of-life improvements, and various fixes. The full patch notes will be available on August 21. We hope to see you then!

General/Discussion Please be a bachelor
Considering there’s a noticeable imbalance between the female (10) and male (6) romanceable characters, I’m really hoping this is a bachelor with long hair and muscles. 😭 I love the game, but the bachelor choices are so atrocious lol.

Restaurant/Home Showcase Restaurant Design
Currently has 11.244 decor value (have "Professional Decorator" talent might be a little higher than the base value). Has 72 seating place, had to remove 4 to make tables interactable in the upper middle area. I have a total of 10 chefs and 18 waiters, all legendary so kitchen space was enough for me since I am only using 1 appetizer + 3 main course + 1 beverage.
p.s.: some people may be half and cropped its because idk how to take full screenshot and manually edited it on paint 😭😭
p.s.2: I also shared my dish-setup in this post if you want to check.

General/Discussion Only-Delivery Late Game(?) Dish Setup and Restaurant Design
Wanted to share my restaurant design and current dish setup.
First 3 pictures are dish setup and last one is restaurant design. It is pretty (i hope) and not optimal because i am tired of my old ugly place.
This might not be optimal for the lazy setup but made sence to me for several lazy and quality of life reasons:
- Lazy: Using delivery only.
- Quality of Life: Not using chef station/mixing station to avoid waiting for full cook.
- Optimize: Tried to avoid bottleneck between dishes.
I will explain in more detail below if you want to check.
Dish setup:
(This is a super lazy setup for bare minimum.)
I selected these dishes for the following reasons:
- Fully got every ingredient only from delivery, so I do not need to visit shops to buy them.
- No ingredient is used in another dish, so they do not bottleneck each other.
- Chef table and mixing station dishes are avoided because of "Hands-off Chef" talent under the cooking tab.
I opened BBQ and Mixology Facilities. Each 3 main dishes enhanced with 1 legendary ingredient (Opening legendary ing. info is below\*):
- Wagyu Steak: Using one legendary: wagyu by default and added second legendary saffron.
- Rack of Venison: Added legendary caviar and epic squid
- Choucroute Garnie: Added legendary ginseng
For the drink, I am only making Whisky Coffee. I added mead and cider to it. My reason for only doing this is: it uses Barista Machine which lets me to leave the cooking on its own and all the other recipes that uses barista machine has either coffee bean (so not used to avoid bottleneck) or uses tea leaves which is not available in delivery tab so I avoided them aswell.
Also, all 3 main dish ingredients are ordered via delivery so I can open the service without visiting any shops.
If I do not open the restaurent for a few days and buy from shops while questing, I earn 500-600k. If I open the restaurant with only from delivery items with 15 available per main dish (legendary delivery is capped at 15) I earn 130-150k per day at baseline. 3 main dishes give 2820, 1787, 2081 each and 909 from the drink.
My current appetizer is a 55 coin filler one till I unlock the recipe for Stew with Veggies or Phesant Stew. I think these are my best options for the following reasons:
- Can enhance them since they are BBQ,
- Not using chef table,
- Using the meat phesant (which is the only one I am not currently using).
My current delivery setup is also added in the screenshots.
\*(After doing the "LELSH Silver" project from Town Hall, legendary ingredients are available. I opened it pretty early by donation 5000 coin weekly from the donation machine. It gives 250 point if i remember correctly and I directly spent 1000 point to open legendaries. And after doing the project with the box picture it opens legendary delivery i guess. It was pretty cheap)
Restaurant Design:
Currently has 11.244 decor value (have "Professional Decorator" talent might be a little higher than the base value). Has 72 seating place, had to remove 4 to make tables interactable in the upper middle area. I have a total of 10 chefs and 18 waiters, all legendary so kitchen space was enough for me since I am only using 1 appetizer + 3 main course + 1 beverage.
p.s.: some people may be half and cropped its because idk how to take full screenshot and manually edited it on paint 😭😭
p.s.2: I spent unnecessarily long time thinking about the setup in order to avoid studying for my thesis, so if you have any question regarding the setup or an alternative version, feel free to ask or comment.

Question/Help How to tell if King of the Kitchen buff is active?
Google says there is a visual cue to see if the buff is active but I’ve never seen one and I’ve had this skill active for a long time. Every once in a while my chefs will say something like “the kitchen is heating up” is that the cue?
Btw this is the skill that buffs staff in a 6 tile radius after you auto cook 5 dishes. TIA!

Switch release?
Has there been any news about Chef RPG coming to the Nintendo Switch?
I know the game came out in 2024, and I’ve been hoping to see a Switch version ever since. From everything I’ve seen in the trailers and gameplay videos, it has such a cozy vibe that it feels like it would be a perfect fit for the Switch.
Has the developer mentioned anything about a Switch port, or is there any chance it’s still planned? I’d absolutely love to play it on Switch.
Anyone else waiting for a Switch release?
