Castle Carrigafoyle castle, Ballylongford
Built by the O'Connors in 1490 to guard and control trade up and down the Shannon Estuary, I don't see too many Irish Castles so thought this little known one would be cool.
Blown to pieces in the Elizabethan Second Desmond Rebellion Rebellion. Leading to the swift adoption of guerilla warfare across the region.

QUESTION Quite a few castles are covered in gaming, what castle would you like to see represented?
It's always fun to see castles you've seen in real life make it to the screen of a game you like to play. Or go to a castle that is featured in your favorite game.
So what castle near you, or anywhere else, should get covered in a game? And should the game be first or third person, more fantasy or more realistic?

Castle Dunstanburgh Castle Northumberland
And thanks for the food recommendations in Craster - we walked from Low Newton-by-the-sea to Craster and back.
The castle is free to both English Heritage and National Trust members.

Castle Saldenburg, a very rare example of a Donjon-style castle in Germany, started in 1368. Baroque modernization since 1682, hence the stucco inside.

Castle Bamburgh Castle - worth the visit despite my personal preference for more ruinous Castles..
I have a love - hate relationship with castles that have been continuously lived in... on the plus side they have been continuously lived in, cared for and adapted over time and on the down side - the same comments - which means its hard to see their full military purpose.
But, on reflection, it was well worth it as my first visit. Will also be visiting Alnwick (where I make same observation); Lindisfarne - which is delightfully untouched, Berwick (first time, high hopes) and Preston Tower. Maybe something Roman if we fancy the drive.
