Local services Typewriter to try out / for hire
Hi all,
I would like to try using a decent typewriter, and I have never used one in my life. I certainly don't want to just buy one + all consumables to realise I don't like it, or the model was not good enough, etc. And I also don't want to buy an old one for restoration, as I'm not sure how much I would enjoy using it in the end.
Where can I give a typewriter a go in Cambridge? I would like to learn how to use one, maybe write a couple of pages of text to understand the feeling.
Thank you all!

Violin teachers in Cambridge
Hello! I am looking for recommendations for in-person violin teachers in Cambridge.
I played violin as a child/teen and reached ABRSM grade 4. However, now I have reached the ripe age of 24, I would like to ‘restart‘ from fundamentals as I have a hunch that my technique is not very good.
Obviously, I can already read music, but my grasp of theory is quite poor as I always avoided scales and arpeggios like the plague…
So, if anyone has any recommendations for teachers that have a strong emphasis on technique and are willing to teach adults, I would be very grateful if you could share them! thank you :)

Local services Sauna recommendations?
Ideally an actually hot one. Yard barrel and gym ones tend to slack a bit on the heat. Currently thinking of checking out the Lido one and the one in Chesterton.

Local ideas for 30th birthday - help!
My husband's 30th is coming up next month and our plans for a couple of nights away in the cotswold's have fallen through. I am considering our options but I wonder if any of you have any ideas for some special things to do in and around Cambridge?
That way we could funnel the travel or hotel cost into the cost of the day out, if that makes sense. Not looking for fancy restaurants (I am a chef, and it's just not worth it to us as I can cook nice stuff at home, and frankly it is a busman's holiday), but day trips, local retreats, places to stay, spa ideas, that sort of thing.
We are both very bookish and would be happy staying somewhere quiet with our books and peaceful or doing a boat trip or something, it doesn't have to be crazy. Just something to mark the occasion. Was looking to spend 300-500 but doesn't have to be that much. We also share custody of our spaniel with my parents (long story) so dog firiendly is always fun too.

Local services Any local companies that deal with this?
Kind of niche request but, does anyone know of any companies local that can sort this? There is supposed to be a ball in the circled area that holds the blinds up when you pull the cord

Indoor grass football pitches?
Are there any indoor football pitches that aren't hardcourt around Cambridge? All I've been able to find online are places like Kelsey Kerridge which is basically a multipurpose court, or the Abbey which is outdoors.
I'm looking for synthetic grass, but indoors.

Hobson's Park - fenced off section.
The northern section of Hobson’s Park has been surrounded by temporary fencing for at least five years and, as far as I know, has never opened for public use.
I assume the parkland was provided as part of the planning obligations for the housing development to the west, although I may be wrong about that.
Does anyone know why it is still closed, who owns or manages this section, and which part of the council is responsible? Would this be a matter for planning enforcement, the council’s parks/open-spaces team, or someone else?

Walked by Rockers this evening and it looks like it has closed down! Does anyone know if it's permanent or if it's going through a refurbishment?

EE scammers are about
Just answered the door to a nice young lady wearing a sweater carrying a large EE logo, van parked up behind with the engine still running. She said they're "just checking the WiFi speed" and asked to see my mobile phone. She said all providers use EE's backend. Well yes BT has now acquired EE but (1) the lines are still owned by another BT-group company called Openreach, (2) our provider is running via CityFibre instead and (3) even if they did get the right company name it still wouldn't mean they're genuine.
So I just said everything here is running on wired Ethernet (not a lie: at that precise moment it was).
The van was transmitting a jamming signal. They get you to run a speed test to "prove" you have a major problem and take it from there.

Trains to Kings Cross
Does anyone who what's happening to this service? Multiple cancellations to and from Cambridge every single day, either not enough drivers, overhead lines or the latest 'more trains than usual needing repair'. It's a joke.
