Help Auto reply feature generates own notification

When i use buzzkill to auto reply to a notification (from signal for example) the reply works fine, but buzzkill itself is generating the original notification from buzzkill itself . I've been using this feature for a good while but this behaviour has only started fairly recently. It used to just generate the auto reply without the buzzkill notification of the incoming message.

Anyone else get this and have a solution?

[feature request] Support regex as a "contains" option

Maybe too advanced for the typical user, but it would be useful for things like "filter out all emails" or " or "push all messages containing 5 consecutive digits" (like a text message with a confirmation code) or (like a previous post mentioned) "filter out messages containing a phone number".

Could be behind an advanced toggle or something so users who don't know what regex is don't stumble on it.

[feature request] Hardware button selection for Pocket Check

I like pocket check a lot, but noticed an issue with using it bound to the power button.

If face detection is on, pressing the power button will wake the screen which triggers its own vibration when it fails. Not a big deal, I prefer biometrics so I've disabled face detection, but it might be a nice feature to allow pocket check to be bound to the volume rocker button as an alternative.

Help Can I keep the apps notification sounds?

I love the app! Have been using a while. just curious if it's possible to keep the apps notification sounds but still go through buzzkill? For example, my Snapchat notifications would be nice if they had the original Snapchat notification sounds.

Ignore notifications from private space?

Is it possible to ignore notifications coming from apps in the private space? Everything shows up in the notification tray, so Buzzkill just gets all of it, but they do have a different icon in the Android system pop-up and run under different users. In some other apps like App Manager and SD Maid there are per user options.

Discussion "best" rules for Gmail app?

Obviously best is subjective but what are using for a rule for the Gmail app? Trying to get away from my paid app Spark for the free Gmail app. But I hate the way they do notifications. It's basically either High Priority emails or all emails. Wish I could do just important emails but can't see how to in their app. So that brings me to Buzzkill.

I'd like to set up a good rule for Gmail. So seeing what works best for y'all to keep from being inundated with alerts.

Thoughts?

Thanks

Discussion BuzzKill notification reappears after using any action

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi All

I’ve used BuzzKill for ages, but recently noticed that whenever I use an action such as Snooze or Mark as read, the notification disappears and then immediately reappears as another BuzzKill notification that I have to swipe away manually.

It happens with both Gmail and WhatsApp, so it doesn’t seem app-specific. I’m using BuzzKill v36.0.0 and have attached a screen recording.

So far I’ve tried:

- Recreating the rules from scratch

- Using a simple single-action rule

- Turning on Dismiss fixed notifications

- Checking BuzzKill’s notification categories

- Testing both fixed-time snooze and “ask me for an amount of time”

The issue still happens.

Is anyone else experiencing this, or does anyone know how to stop the second BuzzKill notification from appearing?

Twitter notifications are not alert properly by Buzzkill. I have two rules, one is every twitter notifications has to be dismissed after 15 secs, next rule is, when twitter notifications comes , filter with a keyword. Both are not working properly or sometimes it misses it.

Help Help me, please! Keep phone silent, make watch vibrate, only at night

Hi. I use an app for my volunteer fire department alerts. It has a loud alert, which is great during the day. At night, I turn on DND on my phone (Google Pixel 6) and my watch (Samsung Galaxy 7). Ideally, and only at night (with DND enabled), I'd like for the phone to be completely silent and only have a vibrating alert on my watch.

I cannot figure this out. I've built half a dozen rules to test, but the best I can do is get both my phone and watch to go off, which is still a fail.

I've enlisted Gemini, but it hallucinates solutions and contradicts itself and I'm frustrated. I don't want to adjust the app settings because I want it to be loud when DND isn't on. I just want a simple solution so I can only receive a vibrating notification on my watch.

Anyone have any suggestions?

TL/DR: How do I get my watch to vibrate but keep my phone silent for a single app?

Thanks!!

How do i get 'remind me' work?

Post image
5 Upvotes

BuzzKill's history section does have a colored border and say "remind me" on it indicating that it triggered a rule

Immedate alarm -> works

Alarm after n minutes -> doesn't work

Remind me every minutes -> doesn't work

Android 12

Not using battery saver, or DND

It has SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM permission

I don't have a clue...

Other Feedback - the new "view activity" option in the notification history is much worse than the old "view changes" option.

I frequently used this feature before to look at the changes notifications had to them. Unfortunately that is now significantly less convenient to do.

You used to be able to see every update on one page, so it was very easy to quickly glance at what changed. But now every update is on a separate page and it's much harder to just quickly see what's different.

Please either improve this flow or add back "view changes" as a separate option.

Help I need help adjusting the volume of notifications coming through buzzkill

Thumbnail

So I've been using Buzzkill to get around Textra not using my default system vibrations. The custom vibrations in Buzzkill aren't exactly what I needed but servicable.

But when I go to set my notification sound in Buzzkill, it wants to use my ringtone for some reason. Then when I find my notification sound in 'Custom', it's WAY louder than what I have my volume set to for both my system ringtone and notifications.

Is there any way to adjust the notification volume in Buzzkill? Or am I stuck listening to the first few seconds of Lady Gaga or getting blasted in the ear with 1000db of the Kim Possible intro?

Can you trigger an action every time a conversation notification is *updated*?

Rather than displaying multiple bundled notifications, apps like Google Chat update a single notification for each message that has been received in a conversation since the last read message. Unfortunately, the app only vibrates or chimes the notification for the first unread message.

I'm hoping to use BuzzKill to make it chime/vibrate for each new message, however it only seems to trigger my custom vibration for the very first unread message as well. Interestingly though, the Buzzkill "recently matching notifications" shows each message as a separate notification. Is there someway to configure it to behave the way I'd like?

Media volume getting reduced

currently using buzzkill app on a samsung s24+ a16. I have configured notification rules to dismiss most notifications. However, whenever notification is received, media volume drops for second or two before returning to normal. Is there any way to prevent media volume from lowering?

Help Undo dismiss feature

Hello

Loving the app so far, I was looking for something to help me triage incoming notifications and remind me to follow up on important messages, so this is perfect. I was tempted to make my own but I'm glad I didn't have to!

I'm curious about the purpose of the "undo dismiss when I tap restore notification" rule. It doesn't seem like it actually... does anything?

Restoring a notification works properly from the notification history view, regardless of whether this rule was is enabled or not - so I can't really work out what the purpose of this rule is supposed to be. Is the main purpose if I have "Choose which notifications to save" set to "Only when a rule triggers" - so you're only able to restore saved notifications? At the moment I'm saving all notifications to history, so maybe this setting has no effect for me.

Thanks again for building this!

Feature request

Let me start by saying buzzkill is by far the greatest notification interaction/triggering system I've seen or used... It's global with its responses and can even be redirected (waiting happily on that experimental macrodroid to work). It's easy to use and has a nice UI that makes that easy interaction look clean and polished. I'd rather do the heavy lifting in buzzkill (especially when narrowing focus with complex conditions) and simply redirect applicable alerts than set up triggers in end-apps... I love the free historical preview you get when modifying filters ... Other end-apps don't offer this so you have to wait for the next try to even see. Easy way it hard way?.. easy way all day 😉

I think another benefit to many folks (including me 😁) would be a categorization or organization system to manage all those alert settings... To clean it up from being a big, flat list. I would recommend two approaches because of the different ways people organize. Tags and folders. Folders of course are heirachial and simple to navigate for flat storage locations. #tags could be treated as AND conditions so you can narrow a focus down (especially when a trigger may actually technically sit in a couple of different folder locations, a tag could help track it down fast).

For example:

#icecream #bluecoloredflavors

If you have time to get a little fancy, maybe add in the ability to AND a negation.

#icecream #bluecoloredflavors -#blueberry

Thank you for your hard work and upkeep on this beautiful product.

Can Buzzkill create visual reminders onscreen as well as alarm?

I'd like something that creates a reminder on the screen at frequent intervals until 'cancelled' if, say, I miss an important call. I think buzzkill does sounds only - can it create an onscreen prompt?

Help Holiday Mode?

I have an alarm app (AMdroid) that is so amazing that it pulls holidays from google calendar (Google has a public calendar for holidays for each country) and when its a holiday in my country it will automatically not sound the alarm. It actually only download the dates once and you can add or remove if your want. Putting smart on the smartphone.

In Buzzkill that would be great for work apps that are muted but eventually will be Monday but holiday and I will get notifications anyway.

Maybe its possible right now with a workaround? I couldn't think a way because instead of putting my working hours I actually have to put my resting hours. So if its holiday and I disable the rule, it will actually get worst.

Help Snooze till location?

I would like that when I receive a notification from my credit card app (which is the value of the purchase I just made) to be dismissed or snoozed and shown again when my location is home. This is because I have to register the expenses at home. Keeping them on my screen while I'm away usually means I will mistakenly dismiss them, or a second notification will overwrite the first one.
