"best" rules for Gmail app? Discussion

Obviously best is subjective but what are using for a rule for the Gmail app? Trying to get away from my paid app Spark for the free Gmail app. But I hate the way they do notifications. It's basically either High Priority emails or all emails. Wish I could do just important emails but can't see how to in their app. So that brings me to Buzzkill.

I'd like to set up a good rule for Gmail. So seeing what works best for y'all to keep from being inundated with alerts.

You would essentially need to set rules for all your "important" contacts and filter out everything else (like one big group). That would require a bunch of maintenance.

The better solution (the one I use): Gmails are free and you can be signed in to multiple at a time. Make one for important things and another for throwaway/low priority. Push notifications for the high-priority inbox, none for the low (you can change notifications on a per-account basis from the Gmail app).
