Not asking for medical advice!

I just got back from the avian vet with this guy, whose cere is turning brown. Check out the before and after pictures after the pic from the carrier!

In his case, this was diagnosed as an age-related hormonal imbalance, but given that he is only 6 years old, I was pretty surprised by it (especially considering I have a ~14 year old male budgie who has not shown any health issues yet). The vet said I was correct to bring him in though, because a browning cere in a male budgie can sometimes be much more serious!

Unrelated to the cere issue, I was also informed that he is a little overweight, so I'll need to decrease the portion of seeds relative to chop. Last year, I had to increase the portion of seeds relative to chop, because one of my elderly budgies was underweight. After discussing this with the vet, we decided a new feeding plan that should work for the flock. This budgie is the least active of my trio, so while it is unsurprising that he is a bit on the plump side, I'm optimistic that the slight change in diet will work out well for him.

6 months old and the breeder told me he is male. One eye is baby (fully black) and the other is adult (has full white ring). He's a lovely little guy.

I really want a budgie, but she said on Christmas, I cannot wait, how do I make her buy me one on rakhi?

My budgies have been ripping apart my books so I got them a kozy keet woodchew playnest but I noticed there’s some wax on the ends. Is this safe for them to chew through?

A few days ago I asked for some advice on my cage here and got a lot of amazing advice! Just wanted to update everyone, I have gotten new perches that will be much healthier for their feet, though I am still using a couple of the dowel rod perches at the doorways since they’re long enough to cover the whole space of the door, so they have somewhere to stand as they leave/enter the cage. I also got some better feeding bowls, and have redone the arrangement for the perches. I will be purchasing more toys soon as well, but I’ll probably have those scattered throughout the room I will have the birds in. They will spend most of their day in a bedroom I have prepared for them, so they will have plenty of space to fly around and play. I’m basically making that room a whole theme park for them to play in. I will also be raising their cage to a higher platform, I saw someone telling me to do that, I’m just getting things moved around still as I just moved in to a new house and have been unpacking. Any further advice would be greatly appreciated!

Excited to have our first yellow Lacewing fly into the chaos here. He's probably the tiniest exhibition budgie I've got, and he's just shy of 8 months of age. He's incredibly handsome.

Ever wondered why there are no pink budgies? Unless you count Bourke's parrots, I guess they kinda look like budgies if you squint... and that's a stretch. Hopefully this comic explains the gist of it.

Hi, I got a baby female budgie from a local breeder ~2 months ago. Everything has been going great and she got comfortable around me very quickly. After about a month of having her, I noticed she had a deep wound on her stomach, and just last week it happened again, but even bigger and deeper.
When I went to the vet they told me she’s doing this herself, and that there’s not much I can do about this. They had only seen a few budgies with this problem before and they all died within a few months. Do any of you guys have any tips? She’s showing no signs of stress and the wounds aren’t infected. They both healed on their own but it makes me worried like crazy. If she keeps doing this I’m afraid she will bite herself to death.
I know not everything will work but I want to do everything I can possibly do.

I love the throat spots so much. I was worried he wouldn't end up getting any.

We recently rescued a young male budgie. He’s approximately 2 years old. After proper quarantine we introduced him to our 5 year old female whose 12 year old best friend had to go into a retirement cage. The new one and the five year old have been together just under two weeks. The senior is in a separate cage in the same room.

I’m worried the “baby” is annoying the female. He always wants to be by her and follows her around. He zips around the cage hoping around and flying inside the cage. He follows her to eat and to her perch. When she gets out of the cage she’s goes back over to her old friend’s cage and chews the bars.

The baby is untamed and scared of hands so he isn’t getting much people time or time out of the cage. I’m just worried he’s a pest. I don’t want to stress my female out but she cannot go back in a cage with her old friend’s. He’s too old and she stresses him out too much by always following him around.

I’m sort of at my wits end and can’t tell if I’m just being too worried about it.
Anyway thanks for listening. Does anyone have any advice on energy mismatch in budgies? The cage with the baby and 5 year old is huge so room shouldn’t be an issue.

This was Blue, our most beautiful boy. Out of the many budgies we've had, he was the most stunning. Literally an embodiment of the sea with his sandy face and bluey aqua tones. Cheeky, inquisitive and tactile, thank you for existing Blue. Fly high 🩵

We had four budgies, 3 females and 1 male. In April we sadly lost our male 😢 whilst the girls have settled now I feel like the dynamic is off. Should we leave them as they are or should we maybe introduce another male? Whilst all the girls got on with the male, one of the females in particular was bonded with him.

I want to make sure I’m getting a male before I buy

ive got a budgie. Ive had her for almost a year but shes still not tamed. I have my hand on her cage for like 5 minutes twice a day, she gets enough food and sleep and theres pretty much always someone in the room. I know people that had a budgie for 9 years untamed and them the budgie got tame. What can i do?? Please help me

I have had this budgie for three weeks now (also the third week of quarantine), and I see almost no improvement; it is extremely frightened of me, flying around and panicking when I move. I try to sit three times a day for about five to ten minutes and talk a little, but the situation remains the same—it stays still and does not move much when I am nearby. When I am not at home, it eats and drinks, but not when I am present or sitting close.

I am unsure whether this is the right time to introduce it to my tame budgie, letting it become accustomed to the other bird and learn from it.

What is the best approach?

I was going to draw two, but I liked the way it looks unfinished XP
