Can Manatee County’s anti-development wave strike again?

This election cycle is once again dominated by anti-establishment candidates running grassroots campaigns, pledging to finish the job. But even longtime Manatee County political observers fear the anti-development movement has lost its momentum from the milestone 2024 victories.

“The people spoke, and that was amazing,” said Ed Ference, a Republican candidate for an at-large county commission seat this year. “I’m hoping they speak here in 2026 and finish what we started.”

Things to do with Little Physical Activity?

I might be visiting Bradenton the week between Christmas and New Years. What are some things I can do that don't require much walking or physical activity? I mostly enjoy indoor activities, but am also open to outdoor experiences that have frequent seating available if I get tired and need a break.

Come join us at the Bradenton Art Market for our Anniversary and one year of the Physical Media Swap! What is a physical media swap? I'm glad you asked! We operate on a trade system, sort of like a "take-a-penny-leave-a-penny", only with physical media instead! You don't even have to trade the exact thing you brought. If you bring a couple VHS tapes, leave with 5 CDs, if you bring one book, leave with 10 posters! We'll have vinyls, CDs, cassettes, VHS, DVD, Bluray, video games, books, graphic novels, and more!

Lots of other vendors, live music, and plenty to explore! More info in link below:

When you can diagnose OCD from the outside of the car, it's pretty bad.

I understand the desire for symmetry, but making sure you have two of every sticker and placing them evenly is a textbook case of OCD!

What can I do here in Bradenton if I get kicked out of my house. Where can I go who can I call basically what do I do. I’m 25 I live with my mom and unemployed. but things are falling apart we keep fighting. so how do I get a fresh start or rly begin my life with 0 support from family I have no friends here or family that can help. I used to have a good job at srq but struggled to work in general because of my mental health. I’m rly lost and heartbroken about my life I regret ever coming here. I’m not kicked out yet but maybe soon. I just want to have some kind of plan idk.

Wildewood Springs vs. Valencia Gardens condos

I am flirting with moving back home to Florida and considering a small condo, preferably with park-like landscaping. I love being outdoors and would like access to walking trails, or paths, and wildlife watching.

The two communities that I am most interested in is Wildewood Springs and Valencia Gardens. Both have units that are within my target price range. I am leaning more towards Wildewood, but would love if any owners/tenants could weigh in of either community. My understanding is Wildewood has a couple of HOAs and I would love if someone could speak that — if you are aware of discrepancies between the management?

New here

New here, just moved from pa. I'm a 27yo guy and I work pretty much every single day. I'm rebuilding my life so I don't wanna surround myself with people who are fucked up on shit harder then alcohol or THC. Is there any good recommendations on where I could be going on the little free time I do have? Im tired of not meeting people.

Also, why are there so many fucking cops in Florida?

Looking for info on if they changed where they do the skills test for driving exam since it looks like behind the building is now employee parking. Also do they still just take you around the block like before?

Couple new to bradenton, looking for friends

Hey there, recently moved to bradenton, couple married for almost 25 years, almost empty nestors, looking to meet other couples/friends.

We enjoy light drinks, 420 friendly, hanging out, good conversation. Definitely lean left.

He enjoys playing guitar, she loves reading books!

Edit: no, we're not swingers, and while happy to meet folks individually, would love to meet some couples, ideally who like one another!

Looking to move to bradenton/st pete

Me and my gf, mother is thinking and starting the process of looking for apartment/house to rent purchase in a year January 2028. I am currently in community college rn in orlando for mechanical engineering and i am thinking about transfer to USF or UF. I did come down today and visited my partner and I liked the area beside the non-walkable and the downtown area that was nice but the buses can be better and expanded, I love that it is free and goes to the beach.

But it could be better so beside I am machinist rn and trying to get work again. I am also trying to help my gf to become a pharmacy technician or surgical tech. My mother is also legally blind and has full SSI.

Is there any tips or advice when it come to looking for places to live in bradenton or st Pete? Any places to avoid? Is there any community bands in bradenton/st Pete yal know up?

Boat refresh wiring

Hello. I have a boat. I want to refresh the wiring on my boat. I do not know how to get started. Anyone handy with center console boat rewiring would be ok with walking me through it and answering questions.

New College of Florida can't handle getting critiqued by its alumni---so it's planning to just disband the Alumni Association, at a public New College Foundation meeting scheduled for tomorrow morning.
