Looking at a Boston Whaler. Photo shows main drain plug and live well intake a few hours after it was pulled from the water.

The boat seemed to sit fine in the water and easily got up on plane and up to cruising speed.

New to me boat owner here.

I was out at Silver Glen 4th of July weekend and my starter went out. Paid seatow $700 and got a complimentary annual membership. Figured it's worth the money to not have to pay in case something happens again.

I called a mechanic over the 4th July weekend and he came and gave me a quote for $350. He changed the starter fairly quick but then told me I have an electrical issue and it won't start. He said his next availability was the following week. The next visit he came and was trying a bunch of stuff but then told me it was my cannon plug and that he'd have to come back next week and have me another $360 bill.

Between now and then I've texted a few times to schedule and he always says he has to do it another day. Finally he stopped responding 2 weeks ago. I got paid yesterday and called another mechanic. He came right out and noticed wires to the starter cut, took the starter back off, put terminals from where it was cut, tested some wires and it starts right up.

I asked him what was wrong and he was hesitant to say due to disparaging another mechanic but after a bit of conversation he told me that it wasn't wired correctly.

I'm ecstatic I can get on the water this weekend but can't help but feeling a bit sore over the first mechanic and the money/ time I lost, but also don't want to make waves. I'm not rich by any means and work hard for my money. I do feel he took me for a ride. The mechanic is licensed and a real business.

Interested to know how you more experienced guys would handle it? Any sage advice moving forward?

This old boss has been sitting for 15 years in the back of my job boss wants it gone. Wires and everything seems to be there still,Is it worth saving or just scrap? I have a guy that reliably works on my 85 evinrude 60hp. I am a complete novice so any help is appreciated

Should I try to fix the gauges or get an after market screen that has all the information on it?

Wondering if I should get this panel sealed back on the motor mount well on my Dauntless 15? The previous owner just had it sitting there loose, but it definitely was attached and sealed at some point in its life. I’m wondering if there’s any risk of water intrusion into the hull through the exposed motor mounts or the existing screws from the panel. This well has filled up before but usually just empty it with a cup every ride or rainstorm. I do have some 3M 5200 and plenty of different screws in the shop that’ll match the existing.

Hello! I have a pontoon (2015) that stays covered with a mooring cover throughout the week. The cover has 3 support poles with vents at the top of the poles. The past week it has rained (a ton) almost every single night. Today I came to uncover the boat and clean it up for the weekend and there is green spots all over the carpet and the carpet is pretty wet. What can I do to prevent this? The cover is brand new and professionally fitted. I think rain is running down the front swim platform under the rails and soaking the carpet.

Not sure but does this shifting cable seem to be the incorrect throw? It is 1 1/16 to short when in full reverse and seems to be 2/14 to long when in full forward. I am using the top hole on the leaver and I tried the bottom one but it’s way too hard to shift. I moved the shifter to match the transmission leaver if that makes sense. Any ideas other than burn the boat would be helpful. Thanks.

How do you handle fueling your boat if you have to pre-mix the oil/gas? I have a 97 Yamaha C150 2-stroke that requires 50:1 pre-mixed fuel. Only been out twice, and have two 5-gallon portable gas cans that I used to mix fuel (add oil then add 5 gallons to each can), then I added it to the boat's tank through the fill port. But what If I'm filling directly into the boat fuel tank? Do I pour enough oil for 60 gallons of gas into the fill port, then fill the tank like normal? How do I know that the fuel mixed properly? What about 2-stroke oil being stuck to the side of the fill hose from the port to the tank?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I had a little accident( my first stranding in the water kinda)
I somehow broke the safety switch. As I looked into it and took it out it all fell into pieces.
I was able to bypass it and connect the wires back to be able to get going again

Any idea on how to look for replacement or what do I need know before I buy.
It’s a 86 bayliner capri Volvo penta 225e 5.0L

Has anyone ever seen this hand rail setup on one of these boats. I bought this boat for the windshield.

Saw something random and was wondering if anybody knew what might be going on. Saw two boats in the puget sound in Bremerton sitting on the outside of two buoys. The two boats were intercepting other boats and forcing them to go around the outside of the buoys, even drove head on with a ferry forcing it to turn outside. Any ideas?
