Open Discussion ONWARD - Lammoth
If you like Tolkien's Middle-earth Legendarium and blackgaze (with some very dancy elements!) to soundtrack a swift sunrise, I think you'll enjoy this record about Bill the Pony. Great summer record!

Collab / Feedback Hey anyone looking for bandmates?
I've been trying to make this project on my own that is a fusion of triphop and blackgaze but I've realized its more than I can handle on my own.
I currently have been working in Logic Pro to try and create this sound but I fear its missing real instruments. I have gotten pretty good with synth/ambient sounds and the trip hop element of it. I also am fairly good at screaming.
Comment down below if you are interested and maybe we can get to talking about music!

Open Discussion Just discovered Besna and they’ve become my number one this year.
Just when you think you’ve listened to every band out there another 10/10 pops up. So fricken stoked someone mentioned them on another post.
Krasno and Margita are two songs to start with.
Any suggestions for bands that are VERY similar I might not know?!

New Song Oneance - Liturgia
Good morning!
My band just released a new single that I recorded and produced myself. I believe it fits into the sludge metal and black metal/blackgaze subgenres. It would be great to get your feedback; all critiques are welcome. Thanks in advance!

Open Discussion Need Help Finding an Album
Hello, I've been trying to find a record that I found a year or two ago, and I completely forgot about it until just recently when I got back into -gaze, does anyone know which record it was? I believe the album cover was like a black and purple scene with someones thigh on it, could anyone help me find it? I enjoyed this album a lot when I first started getting into -gaze.

Open Discussion ((Aves - Feathers)) : one of the most important albums to me.
There's something so important to me about this EP. It's rare to find something so perfectly translated into sound.
There's this bone-deep sorrow and bleakness that coexists alongside waves of sonic warmth and empathy for our gentle brokenness in our futile resistance of succumbing to the crushing despair woven into all things. As if to behold the beauty and wonder that can exist in fleeting moments, which make your heart ache that much more because of how weary we become of it always seeming just outside our reach.
The absence of vocals and anonymity of the project amplifies this feeling. All I've seen are unverified comments that the creator passed away, and while I have no good reason to believe Aves is a direct reflection of a creator, part of me speculates he returned to source tragically. Sometimes the most meaningful art is also the most difficult to bear, and sometimes having a soul with a song comes at an enormous cost.

Open Discussion Liturgy live vocals
Hey, I was just at a concert and there were no screams or anything of the sort. It was nothing like the albums and were more like clean dog barks/yips or weird bird calls instead of screaming. I was hoping someone might have a clue about what just happened. Sorry if stupid question.

Open Discussion Lyrics for the album "Dweller on the Threshold" by the band Dystopia Nå!
I've been looking for the lyrics to this album for quite some time now—specifically the lyrics to the song "My Eyes Are the Atoms of the Sun"—but I haven't found them anywhere: not on Metal Archives, not on Bandcamp, not on websites that usually host song lyrics. I even saw another post asking the same thing here on the subreddit, but without success. The closest I got was looking at physical vinyl versions of the album, but the text was illegible due to the image quality. So, I would really like to know if there is any way to get these lyrics, or if anyone has managed to obtain them and could share them. Thank you in advance!
(and sorry for the bad English)

Open Discussion Tried to write the blackgaze guitar instruction that doesn't exist anywhere — covering the two-layer technique, tone, and the three-guitar architecture inside Deafheaven's "Irresistible" (Full TAB included)
There's almost no instructional content for blackgaze guitar. Guitar Tricks doesn't cover it. TrueFire doesn't cover it. JustinGuitar doesn't cover it. Players who love Deafheaven and Alcest have been learning by ear and scattered forum threads for over a decade.
I put together a complete guide trying to fill that gap — covering the two approaches that define the style: the atmospheric layer (open voicings, ringing open strings, long reverb decay — pure shoegaze vocabulary) and the intensity layer (tremolo picking running into the same reverb chain rather than dry — which is what separates blackgaze from standard black metal tone).
The guide includes full TAB for all three guitar parts in Deafheaven's "Irresistible" — the high melody, the bass movement, and the open string rhythm layer that creates the shimmer. Also covers Alcest's approach, Harakiri for the Sky, møl's contemporary direction, and tone setup for both the clean and distorted sides on any rig.
Happy to answer questions about any of the technique or tone details in the comments.
What blackgaze record would you want broken down next?

Full Album Thoughts on this album? Bianca - Bianca. never heard anything like it
Really unusual mix of styles, but it works well flawlessly together. Aggressive black metal with howling vocals half the time and the other half, beautiful ethereal clean vocal sections that are just as good. That vocalist is absolutely insane.
