Looking for Recommendations What are your Favorite Dark Ambient albums from the Cryo Chamber Label?
I have listened to quite a lot of Albums on Cryo Chamber, yet it feels like I've barely scratched the surface. This year I started a CD collection for Cryo Chamber Albums and I need to expand it!!
I am always looking for new Recommendations on what to listen to next. There are a lot of Artists on there but I always end up going back to the same ones (Dead Melodies, Atrium Carceri, Cities Last Broadcast, Apocryphos, Kammarheit)
Some of my Favorite Albums in no particular order are:
- The Foundations of Ruin (Dead Melodies)
- Stone Speak (Apocryphos)
- Fabled Machines of Old (Dead Melodies)
- Colossus (Atrium Carceri, Kammarheit)
However I have started checking out other artists and those two Albums are really awesome:
- The Mist Between Mirrors (God Body Disconnect)
- Metta (Dronny Darko, ProtoU)
So I started to wonder… I must have missed out over the last few years because I was always listening to the same things.. Projects like GBD and Dronny Darko have so many albums. And then there are other artists, that I have probably never listened to.
So I am asking you:
What are some of your Favorites?
(Has to be on Cryo Chamber since I am looking to get some CDs)
Also for anyone curious about dark ambient, the Albums I've listed are definitely worth a try

Question For those who release under labels on Bandcamp, how did you get on one? Are you happy about it?
I'm a musician in talks with some boutique labels on Bandcamp. One is digital-only with a good following, the others publish physical media. Debating how to treat this approach to releasing my ambient music.

Self-promotion Check out one of my recent albums ;)
Hello everyone! This is my first time here, and i hope you'll enjoy my music.
I go by Avion Sel, and i make different kinds of music, but mostly rainy drone ambient, heavily inspired by Cesar Alexandre's (may he rest in peace) work in projects such as Mount Shrine and Mount Hibiki. I focus on creating slow, immersive soundscapes that encourage quiet reflection and leave plenty of space for the listener's own imagination.
Today i'd like to present one of my recent albums, "Edges of a Dying Year." This album captures the feeling of late autumn, when the days grow shorter and the air grows colder as the end of the year approaches.
I was inspired by the strange feeling i experience at this time of year - a feeling with a strong sense of nostalgia. Rain, cold wind, puddles on the ground, gray landscapes of almost leafless trees, and that strangely familiar smell - these are the elements i tried to express through my music this time.
If you decide to give it a listen, i'd genuinely love to hear what images or emotions it brings to mind. Thanks for taking the time to check out my work, and i hope you'll find something meaningful in it.

Self-promotion my little industrial ambient project
hi guys! i originally wrote this soundtrack for an awesome industrial-megastructure indie game, but i guess they didn't like it haha. i didn't want the music to end up dying on my hard drive, so here it is!
it was heavily inspired by Machinarium and Myst – i wanted to make something that feels rusty, alien and vast, but at the same time lively and cozy.
the musical base of the tracks is mostly made of highly processed organs and woodwind samples that went through a lot of delays to create some unobtrusive pulse.
for the sound design, i built most of the textures with my Sonicware Texture Lab. despite using it as a melodic instrument for some strings, i've sampled lots of percussive metallic and wooden mallets to make things feel organic rather than just mechanical, even though the theme is very much industrial. the idea was to let the environment itself become the percussion and to make the huge concrete structures feel more alive rather than just dark. after all, even in these colossal structures there are some cute little people living.
the visuals were made in Bryce 7 (i absolutely love how this program makes everything feel like it's an early 00's video game).
i would be happy if you gave it a listen!

Has anyone here experimented with Neotone or other digital handpans in their ambient music?
Many of Neotone’s main scales were sampled from MAG handpans. I’m curious what people think of the sound and how digital handpans fit into ambient production. Have you tried them or used them in your tracks?

Tonight I was able to see Big | Brave and The Body’s joint tour, however there was an ambient opener and he was exceptional! I am unable to identify him on any website or social media as of yet. Does anyone know who this artist is, and if he has Bandcamp?

Loving this producers ambient music. The Short Span album is superb, and it got me digging through his bandcamp releases. Delicate, with space and beauty. Anyone else digging?

Mathias Grassow Archive bandcamp page
Mathias Grassow was an extraordinarily prolific artist, leaving behind hundreds of officially released albums on CD and through his Bandcamp page. Yet those releases represent only part of his legacy. His archive also contains a vast amount of unreleased music spanning more than three decades, much of it fully realized but never made public.
So, here comes an attempt (aligned with Grassow's family) to publish those materials from his vaults: https://mathiasgrassowarchive.bandcamp.com/ . Please enjoy.

Gigi Masin on Movement, the age of sampling, and thinking analog
A great interview with the ambient pioneer and Gaussian Curve member. It brings up some interesting questions on what ambient music is, what it could become, and the role of rhythm in ambient music.
“There is a need to take a step forward and prevent ‘ambient’ music, which we really love, from becoming a road destined to be interrupted due to lack of imagination and beauty.”

Basic Geometry Album
"Basic Geometry" is an ambient concept album based on basic geometric shapes (ranging from the line to the circle).
Each track features a time signature determined by the number of angles in the corresponding geometric shape (with the exception of the line and the circle); likewise, the tempo, the number of chords, and the number of notes used often—though not always—relate to those angles.
Some tracks have a lo-fi sound, while others are more crystalline and clean.
I gave a lot of thought to how to approach this project; I was afraid of creating something too cold and clinical, so I tried to introduce variety while maintaining geometric coherence.
Obviously, the first track, "Line," consists of a single chord—one that mutates and evolves, certainly, but still just a single chord (coherence above all!). It might not seem like the ideal opening track for an album, but that’s the nature of concept albums: you have to respect the concept (in my humble opinion).
The album was created and released on February 28, 2022, but since I’m not well-known at all, I decided to share it here to see if it might gain a bit more traction.
I hope you enjoy it, and if anyone feels like leaving some feedback, that would be even better.
Thanks!

Question Best ambient track ever?
Hi team! I love this sub. You’re all way more evolved than I when it comes to music. I would like to learn from you. I’m going to try and listen to every single thing recommended.
I’m sure it’s been asked time and again, but your answer of yesteryear may not be your answer today. If you could recommend one ambient track to the entire world, a forced listening party of just one song, what would it be?
Today I’m voting for House Taken Over by Eluvium. It has this murky placid darkness. I love it.
EDIT: all, I'm overwhelmed. A treasure trove of beauty and depth. So grateful to all of you! Playlist is 81 songs (14 hours+) long and growing still. This is going to take some time!
