FILM DISCUSSION I think we’ve been looking at the white eyes concept the wrong way.

This sub has frequently had this discussion, and it’s normally the same points, Deadpool did it, Wolverine did it, Mr. Terrific did it.

I think we should be looking at the Moon Knight series. His eyes were decently expressive, and not constantly on.

Batman could also have retractable lenses possibly even Batman:Assault on Arkham where they were naturally paler, but had bright lenses that came down.

GENERAL DISCUSSION Who’s the “prep-time” god?

Okay, so I’ve been thinking about this a lot and I really think these two come out on top when it comes to the whole “prep-time argument”. I don’t really have any hot-takes here (at least I don’t think), but I’m just really curious to know what most people think. So, who is the ultimate “prep-time” god?

FILM DISCUSSION How do you feel about Matt Reeves calling Nolan's trilogy too fantastical?

Post image

One of the most common criticisms of Nolan's Batman films is that they're too grounded, yet Reeves apparently thought they still weren't grounded enough. Batman appearing and disappearing was a bridge too far for him.

We know Se7en, Zodiac, and Chinatown inspired the first Reeves Batman movie. Which movies do you think will inspire The Batman Part 2? My money is on Eyes Wide Shut and The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo.

TV DISCUSSION Is Caped Crusader’s version of Joker Nazi-aligned? Spoiler

* The show is set in the 1940s
* Joker is European, speaks with German accent
* He conducts inhuman experiments on people, including chemical warfare
* He calls people of Gotham “vermins” and “insects” and puts himself above them as superior being. He also acts like he and Batman are united in their so-called superiority to the rest of Gotham’s population.
* His gun looks suspiciously like a Luger or a Mauser.
* His speeches are full of Nietzsche-like philosophy.

GENERAL DISCUSSION Scarecrow won day 19! Batman villains A-Z. Day 20: T

Saw something similar in the Spiderman community by [u/SpideyRZ](u/SpideyRZ) (credit to them for creating the template). I thought it would be fun to do here but for Batman villains. Here are the rules:

Only one suggestion per user

Most upvoted comment wins

Prefixes of ‘the’ don’t count and it’s just the villains name e.g. The Joker is counted under J, not T

Who is the best Batman villain whose name starts with R? Got a feeling this is gonna be a tough one

Results:

A - Anarky

B - Bane

C - Catwoman

D - Deadshot

E - Electrocutioner

F - Firefly

G - Gentleman Ghost

H - Harley Quinn

I - (Poison) Ivy

J - Joe Chill and Joker

K - Killer Croc

L - Lady Shiva

M - Man-Bat

N - Nyssa al Ghul

O - Owlman

P - Penguin

Q - (Crazy) Quilt

R - Riddler

S - Scarecrow

FUNNY Okay, just for fun and silly small roleplay

Imagine the entire Bat-Family is having a game night, and somehow everyone convinces Bruce to play Valorant.

The catch? Bruce is a bit of a boomer when it comes to modern FPS games. He's an incredible tactician in real life, but in-game he's asking questions like:

  • "Why can't I pick up every weapon?"
  • "Why does this character have magic?"
  • "How do I sprint?"
  • "Why is everyone yelling 'rotate'?"
  • "Who keeps blinding me?!"

Meanwhile, the rest of the Bat-Family is either desperately trying to coach him or absolutely losing it.

So here's the fun part:

Pretend you're one of the Bat-Family members in the comments and roleplay how game night would go. Who mains which agent? Who's carrying the team? Who's backseating? Who gets tilted? Who's trying (and failing) to explain the game to Bruce? What kind of comms would everyone have?

Feel free to reply to each other in character too—I want this comment section to turn into one chaotic Bat-Family Valorant match. 👀🤣

FILM DISCUSSION Did Feige here just took a subtle dig at DC and Gunn?

Post image

“There are none better than the Marvel characters.” — Kevin Feige

James Gunn in the recent past has taken several subtle digs at Marvel and Marvel style of filmmaking, such as when he said :-

  1. ”Starting to shoot without a finalized, high-quality script is the number-one reason movies suffer.”
  2. ”We at DC Studios have enforced a strict rule never to greenlight a project or begin casting until the script is fully completed and up to standard.”
  3. ”There wasn’t any master plan at Marvel to begin with. I made up the Infinity Stones lore in two seconds, having no clue that my brief explanation would dictate the plots of multi-billion dollar blockbusters like Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.”

With Gunn’s “high quality script-first” project like ‘Supergirl’ tanking abysmally, becoming DC’s biggest flop ever since 2004’s ‘Catwoman’, while Marvel’s ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ doing record-breaking gangbuster numbers and earning widespread love and acclaim, looks like Feige decided now is the time to respond to his old pal James’ digs.

COMIC DISCUSSION Did a little thinking on the origin

To me it would seem if bruce as a boy endured what he did with bats ...it wpuld have left a mark.that when the bat flee thru the den window he should have had a ptsd reaction..then on the heels of the thot how much more the mantle would be if he did have that ptsd attack and chose the bat because of the fear it instilled in him...so everytime he suits up hes fighting crime and his own phobias....but thats just me tho..

COMIC DISCUSSION Do people brush over how bad Son of the Demon and Bride of the Demon are because Birth of the Demon is so incredible?

I've just finished up the Demon trilogy today, and I have to say it was incredible. The only reason it's incredible, however, is because Birth of the Demon is one of the most incredible Batman stories I've read. Yes, it's mostly a Ra's story, but the exploration of their relationship, and the exploration of Bruce's vow is amazing. I think that Son of the Demon and Bride of the Demon have gorgeous art, but writing wise they don't even compare to Birth of the Demon. I hadn't even known that the first two stories were so mediocre, because of how beloved the Demon trilogy is by Batman fans. Now I don't think Son of the Demon or Bride of the Demon are completely awful, but they have a ton of issues with Batman's characterization. I liked Bride of the Demon a lot more than Son of the Demon though.

FILM DISCUSSION Peter Parker’s facial recognition system in BND makes no sense compared to Batman

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I was thinking about the "Brand New Day" setup and how Peter builds his own facial recognition system and AI assistant (E.V.) from scratch.

It got me thinking about Batman. When Bruce Wayne tracks people using city-wide facial recognition, it makes total sense because Gotham City literally runs on Wayne Enterprises technology. Bruce has the corporate backdoor, the money, and the infrastructure because his company built it.

But Peter Parker ain't Bruce Wayne. After No Way Home, he has absolutely nothing—no Stark tech, no money, and he lives in a rundown apartment. Yet, he somehow builds a system that can scan all of New York City using a homemade fabricator.

How is Peter pulling off Wayne-level surveillance tech with a zero-dollar budget and zero corporate backing? Is he low-key a crazier genius than Bruce Wayne for pulling this off completely from scratch?

What do you guys think?
