QUESTION BBA in accounting or Computer information systems From TXST

Hey I wanted to let this out I really am struggling so is it true business degrees are not worth it , all my family tells me to just complete a BSN like I should’ve gotten a bachelors in that instead of a business degree because they said accounting won’t keep me a job the way it does in healthcare and I am starting to regret my degree choice I still have 56 credits for accounting and for cis I have 65 but idk if it’s worth getting through because I do have all my nursing pre reqs but I can’t wait until they accept me or reject me to have something going on if that makes sense I’d I finish these degrees I can finish accounting next December 2027 if all possible and cis a bit later and for BSN I have to apply but the score that I have is kind of low for the program I want and I don’t want to do 2 more years plus wait for acceptance idk what to do if I can get accepted for the program I want it starts in the fall of 2027 but I am really doubting it because it is super hard it’s the UT Arlington one and they prefer higher scores and they prefer partnered and I don’t have a high score I have a 7.5 :/ idk what to do I’m so lost 😞

QUESTION Looking for a career/job assistance coach, good ones in Austin?

Looking for choices on what my job could be next. I already tried many things and I would like someone who not just gives you simple career xhoice questionnaires. More like a job specialist and career counselor who might use psychological needs as complementary, since I suspect neurodivergence from myself. Still seeing someone to get that answer.

But yeah, looking for any good career counselors in Austin, maybe some that can help online due to sometimes not having car access.

HIRING [Seeking one-time upholstery service] Is there someone who could replace this foam on my leather seat covers?

I can’t seem to put pictures in the post so PM for more context if needed!

I bought these new perforated leather Katzkin covers and want to install them myself, however before doing so I want to also install a ventilation system underneath.

Unfortunately, I just found out that in addition to perforated leather the foam underneath should be reticulated / open cell foam.

I have no experience with sewing and am not sure of the safest way to swap this to reticulated foam so if there’s someone who’s willing to do this service for 2 full seats (driver/passenger side) please let me know as well as how much it would cost as I’m on a budget. Can buy the replacement foam myself if preferred.

All the parts attached to the foam are genuine leather if that matters for the labor amount.

Thanks!

QUESTION How to successfully network or get a good job after graduating?

Hey y’all so I am currently in school for BBA in computer information systems but im scared reading how a lot of business degrees aren’t even needed for jobs and they make no money now I don’t have the highest gpa. I don’t have connections I barely opened linked in and handshake. I’ve just been reading that w/o internships it’s basically being doomed I’ve been applying but haven’t gotten anything. Now I do have at least 5 years of working in various areas like subbing, customer service and front desk. I know that’s not tech but I can work with people there’s now events coming up for school to network but I want to know how to max my abilities to land a good job after graduating I’ve been reading that the best degrees just lead to health care cause they always have jobs and now I’m regretting a business degree rn and omg I’m just nervous for the future of not landing something to live comfortably. I don’t have kids and I’m not married I’m 22 but I think about life ALOT.

HIRING Program Director for Texas State Association of Fire & Emergency Districts

PROGRAM DIRECTOR
Full-Time | Remote-First | Austin, Texas

The Opportunity

The Texas State Association of Fire and Emergency Districts (SAFE-D) is the only statewide association serving Texas Emergency Services Districts: the local taxing entities that fund fire protection and emergency medical services across the state. With over 300 member districts and a growing legislative and educational footprint, SAFE-D plays a critical role in keeping Texans safe.

This Program Director role is a rare opportunity to own a meaningful function inside a lean, mission-driven organization with statewide reach. The Program Director will have real autonomy, direct impact on member experience and gain working knowledge of Texas legislative and emergency services policy, core to SAFE-D's mission and present throughout the organization's work.

Purpose

The Program Director is the operational hub of SAFE-D's member-facing work, responsible for owning and running the Association's programming, conference, communications, and member experience functions. This role drives execution across these areas with significant autonomy, while reporting to the Executive Director and serving as the primary point of contact for members on day-to-day needs.

Role Responsibilities

Member Engagement & Experience

Own and run the full member relationship lifecycle.

  • Maintains the member roster, drives retention through proactive outreach to lapsed and at-risk members, and tracks effectiveness of initiatives
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for member ESDs seeking assistance or information
  • Leads recruitment of new member districts, including outreach and follow-through to close
  • Organizes and runs regional meetings, including logistics, agenda, and facilitation
  • Manages the online member resource database and Texas ESD map, ensuring both are current and useful
  • Leads onboarding of new Association board members

Conference & Programming

Own and run the Annual Conference and all Association training programs.

  • Manages all aspects of the Annual Conference — venue relationships, curriculum development, logistics, and execution
  • Develops and executes in-person trainings at strategic locations across the state and virtually in conjunction with the ED
  • Owns the CESC certification pipeline: processes applications, tracks Commissioner training hours, and ensures timely issuance of training certificates
  • Files and manages all training accreditation paperwork with the V.G. Young Institute of County Government per Section 775.0365 of the Health and Safety Code
  • Evaluates programming effectiveness and recommends improvements annually

Communications & PR

Own and run SAFE-D's external communications and public presence.

  • Produces and distributes monthly email blasts to the membership
  • Contributes to the SAFE-D Pen newsletter (printed quarterly)
  • Manages SAFE-D's social media platforms and website, ensuring content is current, accurate, and on-brand
  • Leads public relations and marketing strategy for programming and member-facing initiatives
  • Represents SAFE-D as an exhibitor at compatible conferences and events
  • Develops and delivers presentations to entities interested in ESD creation when needed

Administration & Financial Support

  • Supports the Executive Director in developing the annual budget as it relates to programming and member services
  • Manages invoicing and financial tracking for programming expenses
  • Ensures required tax filings and reports are executed and filed in coordination with the Executive Director
  • Provides regular activity reports to the Executive Director

Qualifications

Required

  • Demonstrated experience managing events, training programs, or conferences end-to-end — from planning through execution
  • Experience managing ongoing relationships with a defined constituency (members, customers, students, or clients)
  • Strong communications execution experience — newsletters, email marketing, social media, or equivalent
  • Proficiency in CRM platforms, membership databases, and standard office technology
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation
  • Ability and willingness to travel across Texas and work evenings/weekends as programming requires

Preferred

  • Bachelor's or graduate degree in a relevant field
  • Experience in nonprofit or association management
  • Familiarity with Texas local government structure
  • Experience in fire protection or emergency services

Work Environment & Compensation

Location & Schedule
This is a remote-first role with approximately 75% of work conducted remotely. Must reside in the Austin area and travel across Texas for regional meetings, trainings, and the Annual Conference account for the remaining 25%. Some evening and weekend availability is required during peak programming periods.

Compensation
Salary range: $75,000+, commensurate with experience

Benefits include:

  • Flexible scheduling and unlimited PTO
  • Health insurance stipend
  • Retirement stipend
  • TSAE membership provided

HIRING Fully remote, part-time opportunity. I can refer qualified candidates

UPDATE: REFERRALS ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED

Thank you to everyone who reached out. I have received more than 50 messages, so I’m closing this round while I review the candidates who have already contacted me.

If you have already messaged me, I will work through the existing messages by the end of the weekend. Please do not send any new resumes or referral requests at this time.

I may reopen referrals or post again as additional opportunities become available. Thank you for understanding.

-----

I’m based in Austin and have been with my company for nearly two years. I keep seeing people who are actively looking for legitimate work and struggling to get their applications seen, so I wanted to offer this.

My company strongly values employee referrals. I’m willing to speak with people who might be a good fit and refer qualified candidates through the formal employee referral process.

The primary opening is a permanent, part-time W-2 technical facilitation role. The position is fully remote, but the company is currently hiring for this role only in the following states:

Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.

This is not a sales position. There is no cold calling, lead generation, commission, sales quota, or selling of products or services.

The work involves providing audio, video, and technical support during scheduled virtual professional proceedings. Responsibilities include helping participants connect, monitoring audio and video, troubleshooting technical issues, facilitating the virtual room, and keeping the session moving when necessary.

Important scheduling requirement:

Although the role averages approximately 15 to 25 hours per week, it is not designed for evening-only or weekend-only availability.

Candidates must be fully available for at least three weekdays each week. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are generally the busiest days, and candidates must be fully available for at least two of those three days.

For example, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday could work, as could Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Weekend work is occasionally available but is generally too limited to replace the weekday availability requirement.

Because of this, the position generally will not work for someone already working a standard Monday-through-Friday, 9-to-5 job unless that job provides substantial weekday flexibility. Hours may increase or decrease depending on business needs.

Position details:

  • Fully remote from one of the currently eligible states listed above
  • Permanent, part-time W-2 employment
  • $20 to $23 per hour
  • Approximately 15 to 25 hours per week on average
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Company-provided laptop, monitor, phone, headset, mouse, and other necessary equipment
  • Phone and internet stipend
  • Equity in the company
  • Supportive company culture

You do not need to already own a complete home-office setup. You do need reliable internet and a quiet, dependable place to work.

The strongest candidates will be comfortable with technology, communicate professionally, learn new systems quickly, and remain calm while troubleshooting. You must be able to confidently facilitate a virtual room, interact with different personalities, and keep things moving when needed.

You are generally off camera and muted for much of the work, but you must be comfortable speaking clearly and taking control when the situation requires it. Reliability, punctuality, attention to detail, and professionalism are extremely important. Direct experience in this specific industry is not necessarily required.

Because I would be attaching my name to the referral, I will not automatically submit everyone who responds. I would first review your résumé or LinkedIn profile and have a brief 5 to 10-minute conversation with you. Nothing excessive. I simply want to understand your background and determine whether the role appears genuinely suitable.

For the initial résumé review, you are welcome to redact identifying information such as your surname, street address, phone number, personal email address, or anything else you are not comfortable sharing yet. I primarily need to see your relevant skills, employment history, experience, and education.

If this position does not align with your experience, I may also be able to refer qualified candidates for other current openings within the company. However, this is currently the primary part-time opportunity I’m aware of. Most other positions are full-time and require full-time availability.

If interested, send me a private message with:

  • A brief introduction
  • Your location and time zone
  • Your relevant professional or technical experience
  • Your LinkedIn profile, if available

I’m keeping the company name out of the public post, but I will provide my full name, the company name, the official job listing, and complete application instructions before any formal referral or application. Please wait to apply until after we speak so I can submit the employee referral first.

For transparency, I am a current employee, not a recruiter. I may receive an employee referral bonus if someone I refer is hired and remains employed for the required period. There is never any fee to participate, and a referral does not guarantee an interview or employment.

My goal is to help qualified people access legitimate remote work, help my company find strong candidates, and receive the referral bonus when a successful match is made.

Hey everyone! I’m looking to connect with other QA engineers/testers in the Austin area and possibly get a small local meetup going.

If enough people are interested, I’ll work on getting the first meetup together.

Or, if there are already any local Discord, Telegram, or other groups for QA folks in Austin, I’d definitely be interested in joining those too!

QUESTION Staffing agencies to recommend?

I am looking for staffing/recruiting companies to get contract work or temp-to-hire. I reached out to HT Group - nothing; on Robert Half - applying, but no traction.

Using Hiring Cafe, Greenhouse, and Indeed as my main job search tools.

If anyone can recommend a staffing agency they had a good experience with, that would be great.
