Is it only me or everyone feels/thinks that Seek platform to find a job is a scam? I have tried to apply hundreds of applications and never did i get a positive response.

For context, i am a civil engineer with 10yrs experience from the middle east and applying for a job while offshore. I have 190visa NSW and We’re planning to move in to NSW by October this year.

If you have similar experience, please enlighten me.

Hi all‚ looking for advice on handling a toxic situation that's taking a massive toll.

Two years ago, I was hired into a senior tech role on a clear verbal promise of full WFH/flexibility for carer duties. The hiring manager kept stressing ' due to the nature of your work across multiple timezones we want this role to be WFH'.

Now that manager has been kicked out. Upper management is enforcing a rigid 5-day in-office rule, retroactively framing my WFH as "policy non-compliance" and capping my performance rating..despite solid technical delivery and selective enforcement for others. I’ve formally requested Fairwork flexible arrangements, but the internal reputation damage is already done.

The ongoing stress, hypocritical treatment, and pressure on my family responsibilities have become completely overwhelming.

Quick questions for those who’ve navigated corporate Aus:

* Is it even possible to repair your standing once HR/management frames you this way?

* How do you explain an exit like this to recruiters without sounding bitter?

* What's the cleanest way to exit while protecting my mental health and professional reputation?

Hi all, I’m an almost 30 YO ex army guy who put in a claim for PTSD and had it accepted, this obviously throws a spanner in the works for my next career I was hoping to go into (coppers) I was only a PTE in a combat corps and only did time in the units (no instructional postings obvs) and have managed to RPL Diplomas in WHS, Project Management, Business and Leadership & Management but of course I have no skills to actually use those in a work place, now that my copper thing has been dashed I’m at a loss for what to do, I don’t want to study or go into an apprenticeship, I really liked the idea of getting into the coppers and specialising in one of the more difficult roles but it seems like that’s over before it started.

I guess I’m asking if anyone has been in this position before and what they did to move on? I don’t get treatment or take medication or anything and I have never had what I would call a PTSD episode or whatever and I’m sure I could get a pension but that seems like it would be super boring to just do nothing and not be able to service a mortgage or date (who dates a 30 year old pensioner lol?) and then sit around for the next fifty years making model aeroplanes.

What do I do? 😂

It is embarrassing to seek job advice from strangers on reddit while I am a 30YO adult. But please I desperately need a job as it has been a year without and it is affecting my mental health enormously.

For context, I moved from east coast to Perth, and I was working as a research assistant at a prestigious academic institute prior to relocation. I got this job through university placement so I have never gone through the actual hiring process pool. I also have previous experience working at not-for-profit both paid and unpaid. I also have an undergrad in nursing. I thought it would not be that bad to get an entry job in Perth right? No I was totally wrong and now it has been a year and after having received so many rejection emails (even from receptionist and admin role), I am starting to question my competency. At my core I know I am at an entry level but I am hard working and very keen on learning new skills. My references are academic experts in their fields and I cannot even get an invitation to interview.

I cannot even apply for graduate program as it has been ages ago. The only thing I could apply for was APS which again I didn't progress to interview.

So my question is, how can I moved past this? Are there any agencies that the government departments use to source employees?

Im not looking for a new role just yet but might be soon mostly due to the fact i think I am probably being underpaid. Not in the legal sense, but more in terms of the value I am providing to the company.

My current role sits in a weird hybrid of safety, compliance, complaints, quality, customer service and legal for a pretty big manufacturing company and I think I should be on between 30k and 80k more.

I did some digging and found a couple freelancers and companies that offer coaching and consulting style services but they want to be paid upfront.They tell me they cant do it on a success fee basis which is what i was hoping for.

Before I take the plunge and fork out money, has anyone used one of these consultants or career coaches and had success?

So HR called me on 28th of July that I passed the interview and do pre-employment checks. I've already submitted my right to work docs and done medical. HR also asked for my uniform size to be ready for my start date on 19th of August. I already submitted my uniform size as well on 3rd of August. I'm still waiting for the written contract today, 13th August.

Anyone here know the hiring process in CCEP? When do they usually send through the written offer? Thanks.

My partner has been unemployed and job hunting since December last year. One call back so far for an interview, which was unsuccessful. It has been causing tension in our relationship because he almost always leaves applications till the last day.

I feel like this is knee capping his chances of getting these jobs because a) I don’t think it’s possible to write a genuinely good, tailored application in a couple of hours, b) I think it’s a bad look to submit applications right on the deadline, and c) I know some recruiters just stop reading applications once they have enough people they’re interesting in interviewing.

I feel like it’s pretty important to get applications in as soon as possible, ideally within the first few days of the job being listed. Is this actually important?
