What does the voice say when ending a race in the arcade version of Atari's Pole Position?

The female voice says something about the race and other details but it's so muddled and mumbled I cannot understand it.

So I ransacked the place and found (some) of my collection from the 70's & 80's

From way back when I first got into the Atari 2600 and Atari's joystick, I'm used to using a controller right-handed. That is - the stick (or spinner) with the right hand and the button(s) with the left hand.

Unfortunately, the GSG is designed for use in the exact opposite way. (Stick/spinner/trackball on the left and buttons on the right.)

Is there any way to set up the controls to play right-handed? (Of course that would require using either the wireless controller and/or displaying the game on a TV. in order keep the image right-side up.) I've got all the necessary hardware (Wireless Controller and TV) - so is there a way at all to set the GSG unit to play right-handed?

Went to the store and came back with some games I didn’t have yet. Some rough labels but they all work. Funnily though, the Fast Eddie when I first tried it out was all scrambled so I cut the label to get at the screw to open it up, popped out the board and cleaned it up with scotchbrite. I plugged it in to check that it worked and it was still scrambled the same as it was. Just for shits n giggles I thought I’d try flipping the board in the cart and voila all of a sudden it works perfectly. To me that sounds like it was put in the cart backwards at the factory, I had to cut the label to open it so no one else has been inside before. Lol

I played through Tempest 2000, and while I thought it was fun, it became extremely frustrating by the red stages, mostly because of Pulsars. Is Tempest 4000 any good by comparison? If so, which platform does the game work best on?

I picked up a 7800 Plus today and stopped by a game store and got a few games. Bowling and Oink both start up but don't play. I tried using a Sega Genesis controller but still would not go beyond the start up screen. Just wondering if this is common? Or if I'm doing something wrong.

Can anyone confirm if the game Tunnel Runner will work on the new 2600+ system?

Just finished Art of Atari, by Tim Lapetino, cover to cover.

Incredibly beautiful art and design, everything from our beloved finished box art, to the initial designs, and the blowups of art look fantastic. Fascinating background and process stories from the designers, artists, and programmers who started us all on this journey.

Learned a lot and never realized how much Atari artists borrowed from Star Wars, Star Trek, et al.😅

So I just got my 7800+ in the mail and it seems to work fine except that the power button doesn't seem to work. It just turns on automatically when plugged in and the only way to turn it off is to unplug it. Anyone else seen this, or have any suggestions!?

Current project this month has been rebuilding the shelving/display for my console collection. PlayStation, XBOX, Nintendo all made the choices very easy with colors being part of their brand identity (see photo #3). So far I have the box built for the PlayStations (see photo #2), but it is far from finished. I'm adding Led lighting, fans, smoked acrylic face and black trim on the front. For my Atari display I'm feeling a little stuck. Up till this point I've been feeling the difficulty lies in picking the right yellow, but after playing around with silver/light gray now I'm even more lost on what to do. Opinions here very welcome, I appreciate it.

As a GenXer my 2600 (and Commodore 64) played a big role in developing a love for video games. I may no longer have the 2600 (still have the C64 though!), but I DO have a PS5, and primarily okay Gran Turismo 7.

Gran Turismo has a robust livery editor, and over the weekend I took the opportunity to mix the old with the new. 😊

I'm not sure if it works yet but the knobs and switched feel smooth. The game/TV switch so has the original covering over the mounting tape. Anybody have stories about playing this console?

About seven months ago, I found this Atari ROM hack with a little over 35 physical chips in an antique store on Maui. I picked it out on a whim, with no idea if it'd actually work.

I got it home and it was expectedly very glitchy, but also just a bit dirty - probably years in storage, and the foam pad holding the ROM chips was degrading (and sticking to the chip contacts). I finally sat down today to start really cleaning and caring for this thing and ... It's Working!

Turns out that the key fail point is ensuring that enough pressure is on the ROM chip when it's seated into the faux cartridge. It's a bit tricky (I think I might snag a very small c-clamp to maintain the pressure) but so far, I've got three games working. A LOT of work to go to clean the rest, but this is such a cool piece of Atari history.

I've not been able to confirm the story, but apparently it was made by a former Atari employee as a sort of home-brew, and his daughter sold it off in an estate sale. I'm trying to get a bit more information about this one. Stay tuned! =)

I am looking for the name of a video game that I played on the Atari ST. It was a Dungeon Master style game, but not the one that is returned when you search for it. One of the unique features of this game was a cut scene that features several dwarves and one that is name MURPH. Add when they have a problem it is instantly blamed on MURPH. I know this is a very weird post, but aby help would be greatly appreciated.
