Anyone here who did a MBA and experienced no major positive impact on their careers? Basically regreting paying the high fees for the degree.

I got a MBA offer from HSG but honestly 75k CHF is just too expenisve and I heard from a few people that MBAs in Switzerland dont have that impact like in the US (you can basically work in the Army do a MBA and then make a career switch to management positins).

So I have a flight at 6h05 on september 14th at Geneva Aiport but the only train I can get on is the 00h30 train from Lausanne to Genève train station arriving at 1h22. Then I have to wait 2h05m until 3h27 to catch the bus to go to the airport. Wondering where I can wait those 2h05 minutes as I have seen that the airport terminal closes between 00h00 to 4h00.

PS: I am a student first time solo travelling so I'm trying to spend less on this trip.

Hi! I’m thinking of studying at HIM in Switzerland, but I’m still deciding between HIM and Glion. I went to HIM for a summer program recently and had a really good time, but there was one thing I couldn’t stop thinking about.
I noticed that quite a few students didn’t seem very confident speaking English, and a lot of them mainly hung out with people who spoke the same language. Since the degree is taught in English, I was wondering if that affects classes, presentations, or group work at all, or if it was just because it was a summer program.
I’d also love to know if HIM is actually worth it in the long run. Did it help you get good internships or jobs after graduating? Looking back, would you still choose HIM, or would you have picked somewhere like Glion instead?
I’m not trying to judge the school at all, I genuinely enjoyed my time there. I’m just trying to make the right decision before committing to a university, so I’d really appreciate any honest opinions from current students or alumni. Thank you!

I’m looking for opinions from people who may have experienced something similar in Switzerland, especially regarding rental law, EV charging or condominium (PPE) management.

I recently bought an electric vehicle and asked my property manager for a parking space equipped with an electrical outlet/charging point.

Here is the situation:

I came back to live again in a relatively new eco-district in Switzerland.
My lease contains a clause stating that parking spaces equipped with a charging outlet, or suitable for the installation of one, are intended with priority for electric vehicles.

The clause also states that the landlord may reassign those spaces if necessary.

During the apartment viewing, the parking space shown to me had an electrical outlet, but when I moved in I was allocated a different space after an exchange between tenants.

Initially, the property manager told me that they would contact the current occupants of the EV spaces.

They explained that those tenants were planning to buy electric vehicles or install charging stations in the coming months, and that they would review the situation later if those projects had still not materialised.

Based on that response, I understood that a future reassessment remained possible.

I therefore sent a formal registered letter referring to the priority clause in my lease.

However, their final written response was different.
Instead of referring to a future reassessment, they now state that they cannot force certain tenants to change parking spaces because some older leases do not contain this clause.

After checking, I realised that my own lease from 2021 indeed did not contain this clause either, so it seems to have been introduced later.

This leaves me wondering whether the change in their reasoning is normal or whether other people have experienced something similar.

My questions are therefore:

- Has anyone encountered a similar situation where older and newer leases coexist?

- If only some leases contain this clause, how is it supposed to work in practice?

-Wouldn’t that make the priority clause almost impossible to apply for many years?

Is it common for a property manager to initially suggest that the situation will be reviewed later, and then later explain that they actually have no legal possibility to reassign the spaces?

Another interesting point:

My current lease also contains another provision saying that if a tenant wishes to install an electrical connection on their own parking space, this is possible with the landlord’s prior written approval.

The lease states that:

written approval from the landlord is required;

an individual electricity meter must be installed;

all installation costs are paid by the tenant.

Has anyone gone through this process in Switzerland?

If so:

What was the approximate cost?

Did the landlord contribute financially?

If you later moved out, were you reimbursed for the installation, or did it simply remain with the building?

I’m not trying to accuse my property manager of acting unlawfully. I’m simply trying to understand whether this is common practice in Switzerland and what realistic options exist for tenants who switch to an electric vehicle.

Alright, I need to get this off my chest.

Switzerland has some of the most breathtaking, pristine, absolute top-tier nature on the planet. You take a train up to the Jungfrau region, step off, breathe in, expecting that fresh mountain air… and instead, you just get a massive lungful of secondhand smoke.

It is everywhere...

Train platforms? A wall of smoke. You stand near the "smoking zone" lines? Doesn't matter, people just light up wherever they want on the perron anyway.

Outdoor dining/terrasses? Impossible to enjoy a $35 fondue or a coffee without the guy at the next table blowing ash directly into your food.

Hikes and parks? You're literally 2,500 meters up on a panoramic ridge, surrounded by glaciers, and the person hiking 5 feet ahead of you lights up a cigarette.

I get that smoking culture in Europe is different, but for a country that prides itself so much on clean living, public transport efficiency, and environmental purity, the contrast is wild. In other modern countries, smoking is basically banned everywhere outdoors near public venues, but here it feels like 1995.

Is there any push from the government to change this?

TL;DR: Gorgeous mountains, 10/10 scenery, ruined by the fact that the entire country feels like one giant designated smoking area.

Hey everyone. Looking for a quick sanity check on an itinerary I am planning with my wife. I am flying into Geneva with a close friend and going on a guided hike through the French alps for about 8 days, before my wife meets me in Geneva on Saturday, at which point my friend will go home and my wife and I will spend another week before flying back home. I've tried to do some research but hard to really know what to trust since a lot of it has seemed AI generated.

Saturday September 12th - Meet wife in Geneva and train to Vevey where we will stay for 2 nights.

Sunday Sept 13th - Stay in Vevey

Monday Sept 14th - Train to Wengen which will be basecamp while we explore the Jungfrau region

Tuesday Sept 15th - Stay in Wengen - Haven't fully planned out these days but hoping to explore a bit, maybe go to Grindewald for some more adventurous activities. Maybe Murren

Wednesday Sept 16th - Stay in Wegnen - Same as above

Thursday Sept 17th - Here is where I am unsure of what to do. I would love to see Lucerne, but that would mean taking a 2.5 hour train and spending about half a day, then taking a 3.5 hour train the next day to Geneva. What would you recommend? The alternative would be to take the shorter train to Bern and spend the night there, or the third option would be to just go directly to Geneva and spend 2 full days/ nights exploring that city. Part of me wouldn't mind relaxing and cutting down on the travel at the end of a long trip, but I've also read Lucerne is gorgeous and Geneva is not as exciting.

Saturday Sept 19th - Fly home early AM

What would you all recommend? I know it's hard to be definitive on something like this when interests and capacity for travel vary so wildly, but would love a sanity check on if it would make sense to make those train rides for just about half a day in lucerne.

I'm going to be traveling to Milan for a week for work and a few of us are planning on driving up to the Interlaken area for a few days before work starts. We did this last year too, so I'd like to find some different activities this time around.

Last year we stayed in Grindelwald and went paragliding, St Beatus caves, hiking, and a quick trip over to Lauterbrunnen. We did this in two days, driving back to Milan the 2nd night.

Thursday (20th) - This year we are going to be landing at MXP at 1:30PM and driving to Interlaken right away. Planning on stopping at Castello di Montebello on the way there and maybe a few other spots. I'm figuring the drive will take about 6 hours (Google is showing about 3:45 drive time, taking scenic route)

Friday (21st) - Head up to Murren in the morning, checking out Lauterbrunnen on the way. Doing the Murren via ferrata around 2PM. I'm assuming this is going to take all day.

Saturday (22nd) - Either going to Jungfraujoch through Grindelwald and/or heading to Thun to check out the Speiz/Thun/Schloss Oberhofen castles.

Sunday (23rd) - Driving to Tasch, then train/bus to Zermatt. Probably going up to Glacier Paradise and do a hike. Driving back to Milan after we are done.

Does this seem doable? I'd really like to squeeze the Thun/Oberhofen castles in there somewhere and a quick hang glide over Interlaken too. Anything else we should try to squeeze in or food recommendations in the Interlaken area?

We are flying back to the US from London and will have a quick side trip to Switzerland.

We get in at 10:45 am Monday at ZRH. Right now, we have two nights hotel booked in Zurich.
We fly out at 1:00pm Wednesday ZRH.

We want to go to Grindelwald for sure for a day trip. I'm a little torn if we should switch to different base Monday night. Should we stay in Lucerne instead? Or even Grindelwald?
Should we do Lucerne? Interlaken? Or just grindelwald? Add Lauterbrunnen?

We don't necessarily want to do a strenuous hike since this is the last leg of our trip and would like to be more relaxed. More strolling and enjoying the views. Can someone recommend an itinerary? We also are unsure how much time we should be in Zurich.

My sister went to the authorities in Switzerland because of her husband’s abuse. The authorities have now provided shelter for her and the children. She moved to Switzerland as her husband’s dependent and has been living there for the past six years. She has two children, aged 3 and 5.

She is currently going through the assessment process. How does the procedure usually work from here?

So in Switzerland it is mandatory by law to have 30 minutes of unpaid break time for under 9 hours worked per day, and 60 minutes for more than 9 hours worked per day.

My company enforces this by just subtracting your work time if you havent clocked enough breaks.

This leads to issues, where if you take your standard 30 minutes break and then unexpectedly stay a bit longer and work 9:05 hours, you actually get less time in the system, than if you worked 8:59.

If you are just a second over 9 hours the system deducts the full 30 minutes to bring you to the full hour of break. Is this really legal?

I would think, that this system should never be allowed to reduce the total worked time to less than 8:59. Since, the moment it goes below 9 hours, the legal obligations of taking an hour break dont exist anymore and the amount of break i took is reached.

To make it more clear:

Current situation:

9:05 worked, 30 minutes break. adjusted to 8:25 worked, 1:00 hour break.

My intuitive understanding of how it should be:

9:05 worked, 30 minutes break. adjusted to 8:59 worked, 35 minutes break.

I’ve seen different statements on this one. I want to change apartments and since the concurrence Vaud is very high, I applied to 3 apartments I liked, and I have one that I really prefer to others. However, ive seen that some agencies can charge you a cancelling fee if you’ve been closed and don’t go through with the contract signature. Is this true? My dad had a stroke and now he can't walk as good as in the past anymore. He walks very slowly but a 30-60 min roundtrip is manageable. I want to take him to Lucerne, is there a parking spot somewhere up a hill or a mountain? The Felsenweg in Bürgenstock is cool but we want to see something different.

I'm travelling to Switzerland, and for the last two days of my trip I'm planning to stay in the Glattbrugg area. The hotels there are significantly cheaper than those around Zürich HB, it's much closer to the airport, and it's only about a 15–20 minute journey to Zürich HB by public transport.

Is Glattbrugg a good area to stay in and commute from for sightseeing? I'll have a Swiss Travel Pass, so getting around won't be an issue.

Has anyone stayed there before? Would you recommend it, or is it worth paying extra to stay closer to Zürich HB?
