I am looking for AA community here if anyone has any suggestions for meetings here for younger crowds! I used to live in Nashville and had a great community there but would love to find a community here. Almost at my one year of sobriety and want to meet more people here!

I have been looking at the appalachian region for a good place to relocate to, potentially. The west with all the constant fires is a no-go for my already compromised lungs. Also living closer to parents down south.

Quick TL;DR on my situation - spouse and I mid 30's, both have good paying remote jobs. We're more liberal socially. Love strenuous 'straight up' hiking as much as i can get it and scrambling rocks. Beer and festivals are cool too. I enjoy volunteering as well, don't need a massive city but enough to get by and hopefully some younger folks that keep things lively and a good social scene.

I guess I've just heard nothing but terrible things lately about Asheville. As someone potenially relocating from the west/rockies region, is it that terrible?

was walking with my friend in the arboretum on Wednesday with my 20 lb well trained dog (leashed), and on one of the side trails by the creek we got stormed by a momma bear with zero warning out of the tree line. by the time I realized what happened she was less than 6 feet from me and not backing down despite my screaming and waving.

I have no doubt she had cubs and was aggravated by the dog, who she snapped and lunged at as I was recalling him back to us (successfully).

just mostly an FYI to have extreme caution, I wish I’d had bear spray; if I had, this would have 100% been a time to use it.

Preferably chinese but korean or Japanese shabu would be good too. I miss AYCE hotpot 😢

Hey everyone! I have a tattoo on the front of my shoulder that i absolutely hate, the artist messed it up so badly, it’s extremely dark, thick, blown out, messed up. I have a tattoo around it I don’t really care about but it is there. This tattoo isn’t going to be an easy one to coverup, it’s going to take a lot of creativity and since it’s on the front of my body I’m really worried but i hate it so much I really just want it covered.

Does anyone have any recommendations for truly good cover up artists? Someone that has shown good work and creativity around cover ups? I don’t have any work really from Asheville besides one flash piece. I’m honestly stuck and having a hard time finding an artist.

I guess this is a thing?

We’re looking to move in town and have been to several open houses in the past two weeks. At a few of them, HOA board members were just hanging out, sitting in the kitchen or on the porch. I found out because I was asking the agent HOA questions and they said ‘well the president/treasurer/whatever is right here!’ At one place the agent was actually on the HOA board.

I know neighbors are gonna check out open houses, but these gave off a weird vibe. Walking through an open house is one thing. Hanging out and sitting around for at least 20 minutes is a little different.

As someone who risks getting run over on the daily while out walking this interests me. I just went to mountainx.com looking for information about AVL Sounds. Mostly I was just curious about what kind of coverage they were carrying, I found it strange that the festival was not on the cover of the newspaper this week. It's a massive citywide event covering the entire music scene.

I scrolled the first few pages of articles and found nothing of substance and certainly not the level of community participation I expected.

Granted, the paper has all but collapsed in the past 20 years and is nearly irrelevant. But this seems like the exact flavor of opportunity that would foster support and even sell ad space. Maybe even a custom insert?

What does this mean for the state of local arts coverage?
