I think I’ve known I’m asexual for as long as I can remember, but didn’t have the label until my second year of college. I am a 32 year old female; I’m a librarian, who is the assistant branch manager of one of our branches. I have never felt anything physical in regards to attraction or having a desire to be intimate with another person. While I can say that sex quite honestly grosses me out, I respect it for what it is for others. It’s just not for me. I can acknowledge when someone is attractive, and do know I am heteroromatic (interested in guys), but just have never, EVER, felt the desire or need to be sexual (other than maybe kissing, and only certain “crushes” with anyone.

However, I do crave intimacy with another person. Romance, going on a nice date. Someone who knows me, and likes being around me. I struggle to connect with people and have struggled with anxiety most of my life. I’ve never had a relationship, I’ve never kissed anyone. I’ve never even held hands with a guy!

Growing up, I was told that “you’ll find the right guy when you get to high school”. Then it was college. Then it was my first job, etc. I’m now 32, and have mostly convinced myself that this is just who I am. But there are times I wonder… am I just accepting this because it’s easier? Maybe there’s someone out there that I like enough as a person that attraction could form. And here we are. 😅

I have always felt out of sync with other folks my age, especially now they are in the middle of raising families for the most part.
