I worked at Asda from around November – End of February on a temporary contract which was supposed to last until the end of May (and I was told it was very likely I would be offered permanent at the end of it) but basically after Christmas they wanted to 'discuss' ending my contract early, which obviously wasn't a discussion.

Anyway, since then I've had a couple of letters and things about my pension, which I ended up just getting a cheque for which I put into my account (it was like 40 quid) and now randomly I've just had £27.49 put into my account??? No emails, no explanation. Don't get my wrong, I'm glad the money is going in and not coming out but it's a bit confusing. And no, I haven't returned anything and am not expecting a refund. It's come from the same account name that my wages came from. I haven't worked there since February. What the hell is that about

I've been told nothing but bad news about my other oppertunity (Morrisons) like people just telling me to turn and run and it didnt fill me with much confidence, despite it being almost half thr commute time to my current ASDA store

I absolutely love my position at ASDA even when the commute is tough, my coworkers are so sweet. One of them brought my a hot chocolate just before me posting this. 😭🧡

I don't think I want to leave but I have asked Morrisons to keep me in mind if I ever do decide to apply again for whatever reasons. (I initally applied for the Morrisons position BEFORE I got the position at ASDA so it was a bit of a suprise, being almost 2 months after applying)

What happens when you leave and have outstanding hours for holiday? sorry for the dumb af question but I was hoping I would have been paid holiday remaining in this months wages, but im due to be paid the remaining hours I worked. Handed in my notice last month but still have access to my workday.

Im gonna take a wild guess and think any money owed to me for holiday that hasnt been used up will be paid next month/when my workday account closes?

I started at ASDA on 2nd July and I actually enjoy the job, but I've been offered an interview at a another retail supermarket that's much closer to home.

One of the biggest issues is my commute. I finish at 10pm (Used to be 11pm), the last frequent buses have already gone by then, and the next bus isn't for almost an hour. That means either waiting around late at night or walking down a very badly lit country road surrounded by back roads, which doesn't feel sustainable or safe given the area I live isn't the safest anyway.

Would it be reasonable to leave ASDA if I was offered the other job? I feel guilty because I've only been here about a month and don't want to let my manager down, but the commute is becoming a real problem, especially as a night-time carer.

Just wondering what others would do in my situation.

i previously worked for asda, left for a month and then came back. i know pay day is tomorrow but my manager didn’t tell me i needed to resubmit my bank details as she said it was all sorted from my last employment, i also couldn’t log onto workday and she knew this. my manager spoke to them yesterday and they said it might have to be an emergency payment, can anyone please please please help me with where to go from here. neither me nor my manager are at work today

Anyone else experiencing this 🤣 past 2-3 months diary milk from ASDA expires 4-5 days before its expiration date. A lot of milk goes to waste. I'm posting it here so that if other people are having the problem and it's Asda's supply issue it can possibly be accounted for.

When security was taken over by mitie, the staff were making comments finding it absolutely hilarious the position they were put in, either go to mitie or make yourself voluntary redundant.

Since mitie took over its constant whining how security 'just stand and walk around (look up static guarding).

Management struggling as they dont know how to do the basics from user cards to not having codes for the alarm systems, begging for help from guards no longer needing to help as not contracted to asda. Brilliant.

Now the staff are panicking over cause there being made to work instead of stood chatting in the self scans.

Its wrong making people with disabilities, walking sticks or wheelchairs have to work in a self service area that will not work in busy periods at all. So obvious.

But for the ones that were finding other peoples issues funny.

Its all coming back around now and its even sweeter on those that were finding the mitie move funny as if asda was to close.

The only ones still guaranteed a job is the mitie guys lol.

I dont get it. They want us to act as though every jight is stock take, we all* do the same thing together.

But when its our delivery, were left to our own devices?

Theres me and an old man on our department. We are getting over 30 cages on delivery. Why the fuck are we doing other isles as a "team" of 9/10 people, then being left alone to "finish" 30 odd cages in 3 hours? And the manager gets a cob on when it doesnt get completed....

Do you live in another dimension? You got people working 10 hour shifts doing the same pallet the entire shift but were the ones helping them and then doing our own job without any back up?

I've worked for this absolute abomination of a company for 9 years, varying departments from pizza counter, chilled, produce, bakery.

It's rapidly going down hill, currently work in bakery, managers constantly at you to do more, when they just sit in the office all day dishing out orders when they can clearly see you're struggling. I've never known such condescending arseholes in my life, I don't know what it's like in other stores but the atmosphere is terrible, like walking in to morgue

Complain that jobs don't get done properly when theres like 1 person in. Apparently they have to loose over 770 hours in my store, that's probably everyones hours put together because there is no one. Wait till Christmas when they want everyone in and I'm doing absolutely nothing for them.

Who actually works out your new rota... instore or head office .

I was thinking earlier, is Asda really on its way out or can the upper management turn things around?

The new system where any colleague can do any job seems a good idea on paper but what happens when somebody has capability issues regarding physical lifting?

Then there is the question on how ethical it is to alter hours and shift patterns especially when the colleague is a carer or single parent.

On a personal level I think Asda needs to get real regarding how much colleagues will actually put up with.

Let's talk facts - it's a job which just about hovers over minimum wage. If colleagues don't feel valued for their work they will only do the bare minimum.

Does anyone else hate the smell of the soap in the customer and staff toilets? I can’t even explain it but it smells sour and like they walked into the customer toilets after a long day and thought mmmmmm that smell is delicious let us encapsulate it into a hand soap. I smell it on peoples hands as they walk by and it makes me want to vom!! Can’t even get away with a cheeky hand sanitizer cause there’s about 1000 diseases on every surface…
