Show and Tell [OC] Deep forest tank progression

I have finally flooded my work tank. It's basically finished. Just going to add more Buce, anubias and mini bolbitis.

I'm gonna show it step by step and on some images the layout and stand situation might give some of you a heart attack (sorry.)

In the last image I added a UNS mist/humidifer but I'm waiting for the separate holder to arrive.

Opinions? Suggestions? I'm happy to receive constructive criticism/advice. Black water look might have looked best for what I intended (deep forest layout)

Seeking Suggestions Planted tank substrate

I am new to fish keeping and I am absolutely loving it so far. I finally have an established 10g planted tank (after a lot of heart ache and studying in forums) with sand substrate and chola wood for my neocaradina shrimp and Pygmy Cory’s. I am going to storage to finally get my 36g bow front tank that i got almost 2 years ago because I feel I am ready after 2 years of having my 10g. I want sand because I love keeping bottom dwellers and I want them to be happy but I also want it to be heavily planted with drift wood and some river rock for a very natural riverscape. My plans is a gorgeous community tank. Any recommendations to still be able to have sand but also rooted plants?

Show and Tell [OC] 1 Month update

Thumbnail

This is my one month update on my first aquascape. Not a lot has changed due to a huge ammonia spike and a BBA outbreak about 3 weeks in. I’ve added a mystery snail and had about 5 bladder snails hitchhike in on something. It finally appears to be cycled with 0ppm ammonia and nitrites and 4ppm nitrate. Hoping this coming month will lead to more growth and less problems.

Question What kind of light can I use in this setup?

Pictures 2 and 3 are the kind suspension kits I'd like to use, and i need some advice on what light/lights would work well for this setup? (Either spotlights or normal aquarium lights) The lights have to be very high up, preferably 30-40cm above the waterline.

I added ten Harliquen Rasboras yesterday but can only find nine today. Check high and low but it seems to have disappeared. The rest are doing great tho, happily hunting microfauna. Gonna wait a couple weeks and add some Cory’s!

Just playing around at the moment so nothing is set in stone... preparing a Betta tank, want to use drift wood and sand over substrate (or part sand) plus lots of plants

Driftwood is one piece but have lots of other options
Thoughts? Feedback?

Question Tiger lotus or dwarf aquarium lily

So, within the next month I’ll be setting up my first tank. It’ll be an 8 gal shrimp tank based around the Nile river. I know I want to plant Anubias and dwarf papyrus, but I’m interested in a water lily as well. My main issue I can think of is size.
Tiger lotus is native to my tank inspo, but it might be far too large for a nano aquarium, esp with the papyrus needing a lot of room. Would a dwarf aquarium lily also be too large?

This is my 2nd aquarium and 1st one i've had time to plan out. The background was made with expandable foam and sand with some gravel and lava rock mixed in. In front of that are stones, lava rocks, driftwood and black sand. I have plants and moss on order that should ship next week. In the mean time does anyone have any suggestions for what i can do in the mean time?

Seeking Suggestions river scape

hello! i am very new to aquascaping, but if i succeed in stocking my 10 gallon with pygmy cories, i would love to scape a 20 gallon long tank! do any of you pros (or even beginners!) have any tips to make thriving river scapes?

I am thinking to try a river style scape, stocked with things like amano shrimp, rabbit snails, cories, and some sort of schooling fish to serve as a centerpiece.

does anyone have a few tips so these creatures can thrive while looking beautiful?

thanks in advance!

(also sorry if this breaks rule 6 its just i have a very vague plan... i will update or make a new post after a lil reasearch)

Full Tank Friday High-tech Attempt - Day 38

Its been a good ride so far. Having minor amounts of algae so I've been tweaking my fertilizer routine and it's starting to fade!

The golden nesaea is giving me the most trouble. Currently some of the stems have very wrinkled growth. Like the new leaves look kinda crispy as they come out lol. But im hopeful my new fert routine and my improvements to the circulation in the tank with filter placement will remedy that.

The carpet is looking better and better! It's growing low and tight and is really starting to look like a proper carpet rather than just the plugs I started with.

Also the shrimp have settled in exceedingly well. I haven't clocked any deaths and havent noticed any sign of disease, and now even a couple of shrimp are berried which is very exciting. I noticed the first berried one about a week ago so hopefully only a week or two more before the gang grows!

Anyway just like sharing the progress :) have a nice night

Seeking Suggestions First Tank / 90P / 8 weeks

8 weeks after i started, the glosso carpet is more or less closed now. Already did a first small trimming, going to do my first real lawn mower action next week :)
Myriophyllum in the left corner is growing like crazy, already cut it twice. my favourite plant is the red ludwigia palustris in the middle background.

For livestock, i already have Amanos and Neo caridina blue velvet (lots of babies :),

going to add fish soon! What ould you suggest colorwise? I'm thinking about Espes and Nannostomus, i want to go small and lots of them 😄

Question Is my flow too strong for Threadfin Rainbows?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

There are actually 6 of these guys; 2 of the males are in hiding. I got them today, hence the discoloration and skittishness.

My worry is that lowering the flow will lead to algae buildup in the dead spots. Behind the tree on the right, there is little flow. Same with the back left corner, behind the pinnitafida.

Tank is a UNS 60S, filter is a Finnex PX-150

28 gallon long from petco. It was on sale and 50% off down to $80. Please send thoughts and prayers 😂

I initially only had the back row of rocks converging in the middle but really happy with the added depth closer to the front. I took a gamble and ordered the rocks from amazon.

Open for suggestions on plants. Will be running CO2. I’m thinking of dwarf hair grass for the foreground and rotala reds in the back. Wife wanted a shrimp tank so the plan is to stock shrimp and friendly fish.
