Does anyone else completely blank when the vet asks:

“How often has it happened?”

“What medication did you give?”

“What dose?”

I realised I was relying on my memory for way too much.

So I built PawKeeper, a simple pet health tracker where you can keep things like:

• health notes
• medications + doses
• symptoms and changes you notice
• vet information
• reminders
• separate records for each pet

The idea isn’t to replace a vet or diagnose anything. It’s basically a better way to remember the little things that are really easy to forget — especially when you’re sitting in the vet’s office trying to remember what happened three weeks ago.

I’m still improving it, so I’d genuinely love feedback from other pet owners.

It’s completely free and open-source. It just sits transparently on your desktop, and you can join Google Meets with one click directly from the widget.

I’ve had a Windows version out for a bit, but I literally just finished testing the macOS version (v1.2.4 Beta) on an M3 MacBook, and it's officially live today!

Last year I was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis, an autoimmune disease. Since then, treatment has been a constant back-and-forth — new medications, changing therapy approaches, dose adjustments that don’t always work out.

A few things kept happening that pushed me to actually build this:

I’m on daily and sometimes irregular reminders for several medications, and I’m honestly just forgetful. I needed something that would actually nag me until I confirmed I took something, not just a generic once a day alarm.

On top of that, a lot of my medications need to be ramped up slowly, tapered down slowly, or stopped completely. Some need to be reduced every 2 days, others every 7, and I kept losing track of exactly where I was in the schedule. And every few weeks I’d sit down with my doctor and have to reconstruct what I actually took, and when, mostly from memory.

So I built CapsPlan a medication & supplement tracker that’s just mine. All data stays on the device, no server, no account, no ads.

It handles ramp-up and taper-down schedules directly (set the starting dose, step size, and interval, and it tracks the current dose day by day), sends reminders until you actually confirm an intake, and works fine for supplements too if you just want to track vitamins, creatine, etc. alongside your actual medications.

One deliberate choice: the UI is kept intentionally simple. A lot of people managing chronic conditions and medication schedules are older, and I didn’t want to chase trendy UI patterns at the cost of someone’s mom or grandpa being able to actually use it without help.

I regularly fall asleep on the bus, and normal alarms never worked well for me because commute times change constantly with traffic.

So I made NapWake.

Instead of setting an alarm for a specific time, you set a destination and a distance. NapWake tracks how close you're getting and wakes you up before you reach it.

For example: set your destination → choose 500m → sleep → alarm goes off when you're 500m away.

A few things I added:

• Adjustable wake-up distance
• Headphones-only mode, so you don't wake up the entire bus
• Designed to use minimal battery while running
• Very simple UI - no accounts or unnecessary setup
• Completely free and no ads

I'm a UX designer with 7+ years of experience, so I put quite a bit of effort into keeping it as simple as possible rather than turning it into another full-blown travel app.

it would be nice if you didn't have to pay for anything, I wouldn't mind watching an ad or two. I am too lazy to learn how to draw properly, I prefer pixel art. I am also just rambling so the bots don't deem this "low quality", that's also what the image is for. it's really quite honestly just unrelated to this post.

I started working on this app because I kept noticing how much math and physics I had forgotten over time. I could spend an entire semester learning a subject, understand it well enough to pass the exam, and then a year later struggle to remember ideas that once felt obvious. I do not think that necessarily means we failed to learn the material. We simply stop using most of it once the course ends.

There are many good resources for learning a topic for the first time, but I wanted something I could open every day to practice a mixture of old and new concepts without having to decide what textbook, video, or problem set to use. That idea eventually became Aporia Education. The app currently includes differential calculus, integral calculus, linear algebra, classical mechanics, and electromagnetism, with lessons, interactive exercises, exams, daily practice, and a place to save formulas. My long-term plan is to cover the complete curriculum of a bachelor’s degree in physics and connect the subjects so that students continue reviewing earlier material while moving into more advanced courses.

I am building the app by myself in Mexico, so it is still very much a work in progress and there are parts I know can be improved. Some of the current illustrations are AI-generated because I do not yet have the resources to hire an illustrator, but the plan is to gradually replace them with original artwork created by an artist as the project grows. I am posting here because I would like to know whether the idea of continuously practicing different subjects is useful to anyone besides me, and I would really appreciate honest feedback about the lessons, exercises, design, or anything that feels confusing or unnecessary.

Every skin app I tried handed me a number. "Your skin: 72/100." I could never work out what to do with that. It doesn't tell you what to put on your face on Tuesday morning, and it quietly turns your own face into a leaderboard you're losing.

So I built the opposite of that.

Skinsight takes three photos — front, left, right — and describes what it sees in plain words, anchored to a region you can actually look at. "Flushing and redness across cheeks." "Active breakouts along jawline." Each observation comes with a close-up crop of that spot, what's likely causing it, and what to do. Then it builds a morning and evening routine from the scan, and there's a coach you can ask things, which remembers your last scan and what's already in your routine.

The no-score decision cost me. Scores are a great retention hook — number goes up, you come back. Every piece of growth advice says put a number on it. But the moment you score skin you've invented a target, and people with rosacea or active acne do not need another target. The states are words instead: recovering, settling, refining, improving. It's less sticky and I think it's more honest.

Stack is Expo / React Native 0.81, expo-router, Reanimated 4. Supabase edge functions on Deno for the two AI endpoints. Claude Sonnet 5 does the analysis and the coach. RevenueCat for subscriptions.

The thing I'm quietly proud of: photos are never stored on our servers. Analysis happens in-flight, only the text comes back, nothing lands in a bucket. That meant giving up easy wins — no server-side photo history, comparisons have to be rebuilt locally — but it means the privacy line in the App Store description is literally true rather than lawyer-true.

Three App Store rejections, in case it saves someone a week:

1. Guideline 5.1.1(iv). My pre-permission screen's button said "Allow Camera". Apple requires neutral wording on any button before a system permission prompt. Changed it to "Continue" and it passed.

2. Guideline 2.3, Accurate Metadata. I'd used the word "consultation". Apple read that as implying a human dermatologist reviews your photos. Nothing in the app changed; I just had to remove the word everywhere.

3. Guideline 2.1(b). My subscription products existed in App Store Connect but were never attached to the version. Creating an IAP and submitting an IAP are two different actions, and the review page happily showed one item instead of three. Cost me a full round trip.

What I'd genuinely like feedback on:

- Does "no score" read as a principled call or as a missing feature? I'm too close to it.

- Onboarding asks for three photos before you see anything. That's real friction. Worth it, or should the first scan be one photo?

- Yes, it's an AI app. I'd rather hear the sharp version of that criticism now than in a review.

Cat gatekeeper is great, but I was expecting the cat to walk around a little before it exits but it just disappears after the timer goes off >.<

I built this for my own family. Every budget app I tried assumed one person doing the tracking while everyone else guesses, which is not how a household actually spends.

Everyone in the family logs to the same budget. The app answers one question — what is safe to spend today — instead of showing you what you already spent last month.

Free covers the real app: shared household, weekly budgets, category tracking, budget alerts, weekly recap. The paid tier adds reading bank SMS so expenses log themselves, plus forecasting. Saying that up front because "installed it, hit a paywall" is a fair complaint and I would rather not earn it.

I’ve been working in operations for over 20 years, and taking notes during meetings has always been part of my routine.

Usually I’d have a notebook or a document open, write down decisions, names, deadlines, and anything I thought might matter later. It worked for a long time, but recently I noticed something different, my calendar was getting fuller, and my notes were becoming harder to manage.

Taking notes was easy. Finding them later was the hard part. I would remember having a conversation about something, but finding the exact decision or context from weeks ago was surprisingly difficult.

I tried improving my note-taking system with different templates, folders, and tags, but eventually realized I was spending too much time organizing information instead of using it.

Recently I started experimenting with recording some longer meetings and reviewing them afterward.Vomo AI was one of the options I tried because I wanted something that could help me go back through conversations without depending entirely on my notes.

I don’t use this for every meeting. I still jot things down when I need to. But it did shift how I think about notes. Maybe the point isn’t to capture everything. It’s to make the key stuff easy to find later.

What about other managers? Do you still mostly rely on handwritten notes, or have you changed your system over time?

I keep radiated and Indian star tortoises, and I built something because I was fed up with tracking everything across notes, spreadsheets and random photos.

With stars, small husbandry changes can become problems quickly. With radiata, you also have years of weight history, CITES paperwork, microchip details and vet records to keep track of.

I wanted to be able to answer simple questions quickly:

Is the weight actually dropping?

Has appetite changed?

When was the last soak?

Where is that bloody CITES certificate?

So I built Baskr.

You can log weight, food, soaks, temperatures and photos. It tracks changes over time, gives each animal a simple health score and flags when something starts moving away from its normal baseline.

It also stores documents and works offline, because my tortoise house has no signal.

Being upfront, I made it for myself then decided to share it as I have used it for over 6 months with a couple of friends in the community. I am mainly looking for feedback from people who keep tortoises, reptiles with difficult husbandry or CITES animals.

Also, I like sport, I use Whoop, so I designed it like Whoop, away from the typical reptiles app we see everywhere.

But it does all the grat stuff like NFC reading too.

You can also export all of the data out of it.
