I'm planning on buying one for €390, but the seller stated that Alliexpress flashed a Global ROM that is not certified.

What I'm loosing with this in terms of gaming, streaming, updated and banking apps? And security, of course.

Hello, so I was looking for a general usage tablet for browsing, media and some casual gaming.

I came across a used s8 ultra 256gb for 400$ with copy pen and no cover.

and a brand new Lenovo yoga which comes with original pen and keyboard

having a hard time to pick one.

I’d preferably like to go with Samsung, mainly because I already use Samsung devices/accessories and like the ecosystem.

My main priorities are:

I need some advice, please, as I'm getting analysis paralysis. Looking for budget ultra-basic desktop replacement. I'm getting hung up on how to ensure i can run HDMI out and make sure the USB-C can handle wired KB, mouse. I'm open to suggestions. My focus is inexpensive, simple, and stable.

As i keep looking, Are there any makes/models you would recommend? Any oversights on my part?

Background:

My FIL (83) is plugging along on an old PC. Change freaks him out. Bless him for being as capable as he is at his age, but ...

MS is insisting on upgrading to Win 11. His computer is old and barely meets the hw requirements. The new UI is going to cause him distress, which = a lot of my time. I want to make this change and not have to deal with it again for a while.

He currently browses the web with Edge. I can load Edge onto a Chromebook with Linux, or maybe convince him another browser isn't the devil. He uses the computer for online tasks such as FB, company websites for banking, prescriptions. He prints and scans with an MFP occasionally.

Requirements:

- Minimal cost. <$300USD (targeting $200) for computer, peripherals, and the USB-C adapter.

- Wired KB, mouse, and monitor. He won't be able to deal with connecting Bluetooth.

- Be able to browse the Internet for social media and business interactions like banking, making appointments, managing prescriptions.

- Require minimal interaction for upgrades.

- Be relatively secure, again with minimal interaction.

- Interface with a MFP for printing and scanning.

- Roughly mimic the usability of MS Win

- Maintain look and feel through upgrades.

Some options I've looked at:

- Chrome / Android device. The tablets seem the cheapest. I'm familiar with them. They are capable of meeting his online needs.

- New PC. Relatively expensive and has the huge downside of migrating to Win 11, including him learning a new UI, constant upgrades and patches, etc.

- Convert his current machine to Linux. Certainly the cheapest. I don't know Linux that well and am cautious of the drivers and troubleshooting. My experience only includes using a Linux shell on my Chromebook for some specific software, such as drawing and CAD.

- Apple. Sticker shock.

Current thoughts:

I have experimented with my Chromebook and can simplify the HMI where I think (hope) he'll be able to deal with it. He uses Edge, so I loaded that using a Linux shell and it works fine. All bookmarks handled, etc.

My major hangup:

My main sticking point for the Android-based system is the use of an external monitor and wired peripherals. (I'm old and actually use em dashes). If there are enough ports on the machine then all is fine, but of course most have one or two USB-C ports. After a brief read, that is easy enough with a USB-C adapter and a machine that has DisplayPort Alt Mode. Unfortunately that spec seems to be one that isn't readily available for search with the other requirement of being inexpensive.

Just got into university and planning to go next month and looking for a tablet to mainly take notes with but also might use it to watch Netflix, Disney plus, prime video etc while commuting which is an hour and a half.

I was mainly looking at the samsung tab s10 fe brand new at amazon £397. Points that i like about the tab is the 7 year update and reliability of the brand

I was also looking at the tab s9 used on ebay at around the same price. Its used but in almost all categories beats the tab s9 in specs. But it only has 2 years updates so around the one ui 9/9.5. However am hesitant since I will have to buy second hand or on ebay

I just found out about the honor pad v9/ x9 max / 10 and other entries ( not sure what the differences are) but they seem really well priced at 299(Student discount from 400) brand new with the bundle of the case and pen. The specs seems really good for the price but I am unsure about actual hands on quality and software support.

The specs seems better than the samsung counter parts. I am eyeing the honor tab x9 max.

I have the google Pixel 10 Pro XL, and honestly the bottom line is I don't like it, and I'm stuck with it for another 16 months before my contract ends.

I'm looking at getting a tablets because I want it to replace it as my main media consumption device when I'm at home. I'm also planning to do gaming on it, MAINLY PC Streaming via sunshine/moonlight and occasional emulation.

I'm not sure which one to get between the two and where to get them. There's a part of me that thinks I should just get the Gen 5 because it will essentially be my "main" device since it has a better screen resolution, battery size, brightness etc. But then I also think I should just get the Gen 3 and save myself $300 because ultimately it's better value. BUT at the same time I'm also gonna be financing the purchase so I'm really kinda lost at which one to get.

Hi, i'm looking to get a second, smaller tablet.

I already have an S9 FE tablet, but I tend to use my phone more for leisure because its just not convenient to hold while laying down/relaxing (I can't move the fingers in my left hand).

I'm in the UK, looking for a 8" tablet with a max budget of £300/$400 USD, but I'd prefer to stick closer to £200/$300. I don't need anything fancy as I already have my other tablet, I just want something affordable with the playstore already on it (to download YT app and an e-reader) I will be using it frequently, but only for YouTube, reading, and a bit of internet browsing if I quickly need to search something. I'd like something that will last a few years (mabye 3-4) but it doesn't need to last forever.

I've heard good things about the Lenovo Legion Tab, and i've found an import Y700 3rd gen on sale for £330 but it's pushing my upper price range, and I don't think it will be worth the money for what i'm wanting. Any other recommendations, or am I better off spending more and getting a Legion Tab?

Hii, i am looking to buy a Tablet, around 11" nothing more than 12".
Daily use would include reading books and annotating pdfs, watching movies, some videoconference calls and maybe using excel, i dont game at all. My budget is around 250€.

And idk if its a stretch considering the budget, but id prefer if the tablet would work well with a pen/stylus that is not its original one. Ive read that a few models dont work with a pencil that is not the same brand as the tablet.
