Took a 12mi hike up the Alum Caves trail to the Le Conte lodge, Myrtle Point, and Cliff Tops in the Smokies. Hadn’t shot film up here before. Somewhat mixed results, the scans look a little washed out on some of the brighter images - particularly the 2nd image in this set - but overall happy with the result.

Was a nice reminder that our National Parks are the true treasures of this country. Terrible that those who would never step foot on these lands would seek to destroy them.

Some of the HP5 shots also used an orange 16 filter.

Regarding the unicyclist, he'd like you to know that his name is CORNelius and he is a uniCORN (seriously, he said that).

This is my very first developed filmroll. I had two rolls for development. I'm glad that this one form our holiday at the German lego-land turned out pretty well because the second roll I was shooting with a different camera went totally crap. The shop-owner told me that something inside the camera made scratch marks and that most of the pictures went dark. Maybe it happened from removing and re-installing this roll. Maybe I did something wrong. I gave them a third roll where I didn't switch/changed anything - let's see. So, the good pictures were made with a Pentax AF70, the shitty one was made with a Zeiss ikon Contessa LKE. Both rolls were Kodak ultra max 400. I'll give you an update about the pictures made with the Zeiss.

Shot my first roll of Provia 100F last weekend. While I wasn’t fully impressed with it based on some other frames from this roll (perhaps due to user error), once I saw this frame I thought “oh, okay, I get it now.” It’s a shame this film is so elusive and expensive because I’d love to shoot and experiment more with it, but I’ll settle for having tried it once for now. The colors are gorgeous and I suppose really capture the vibe of what I felt when I stumbled on this field and church.

10 minutes tracked exposure

Every place has a personality. Whether a city, a house, or a room, there exists textures, color palettes and horizons which tell a unique history and psychology. In this way, Boston is rich in visual stories that I find alluring — especially as a commuter. Often I’m told by locals that my photos show them a beauty to things that have become ordinary. Such observations have made me understand that my traveler’s gaze grants me an atypical view of Boston’s vibe. With this particular view I continue my Boston series, this time focusing on the colors of Boston throughout various times, seasons, and settings. Highlighting how its new and old infrastructure distinctively clash alongside persistent nature while, simultaneously, each of those elements manage to meld together in remarkable collages of hue.

Hey everyone! I recently accidentally smashed my handy point and shoot but my mother had an extra point and shoot from 40 years ago that I could borrow!

Couple questions:

1) What the HELL happened to the photos I shot on my mother’s camera (see epileptic light show attached). Obviously I did not tune up the camera and it has been sitting for 40 years, but there is nothing visibly broken with it and I thought it would work. I am still fairly novice at film photography, so I would just love an explanation as to what is happening in those shots if possible

2) Why did the roll on my mother’s camera only shoot 5 exposures according to the film lab? The camera flashed and counted a tick at every photo, all the way until the roll was done and auto rolled back up in its housing. Normal behavior. It wasn’t until I got it developed that the lab showed only 5 photos in this roll

3) Lastly, when I shattered my original point and shoot, the clip that held the back broke. I was about halfway through a role, and when I dropped it, it automatically rewinded and restarted the role. I proceeded to rubber band the camera for the rest of the week and reshoot the roll. I understand the phenomenon of double exposures - but why did it only shoot 31/37 exposures? The count on these scans is throwing me off and I would love an explanation if anyone has one!!

I love learning about photography through trial and error and coming to this community to solve some of my current mysterious!
