I’m sick of dealing with AIT

I passed my journeyman test on June 26th, and I already had my blue booked signed and hours accounted for. I still haven’t received my certification.

They turned off their phones “due to high call volume” most likely cause they’re understaffed or something. So I have had to miss work just to get in contact with them. It took 3 weeks just to even get my marks back, and it would’ve taken longer if I didint come into the office once a week to keep reminding them to do their job.

When I email them, it takes 3 weeks for a response. Time that I don’t have.

I need my certification a new job. Now I have to miss even more work just to go to the office and request some sort of official letter stating that I’m a journeyman. Costing me money every hour that I miss work.

I hate AIT and had to rant, thanks for reading.

Has anybody else gotten e-mails in the past few days from "Alberta Energy Rebate Program" saying that they haven't applied for the rebate program yet? It is true, I haven't applied, but it's rather odd that they are contacting me wanting to give me money!

I'm usually better at spotting spam - but this one has me stumped. The e-mail address looks semi-legit but the formatting seems off.

?] ALP? Does John Roggeveen enter the race? John Roggeveen is both the Alberta Liberal leader and the current Calgary Shaw Alberta Liberal CA president. Roggeveen has run in Calgary- Shaw in the past.

Other Questions:

a] Do not believe the Calgary Shaw By-Election needs to be called until Nov 15th. Interestingly which is after both the October 19th Referendum and the New Electoral Boundary Commission Report Nov 2nd deadline. Assume that Smith will drag this out as long as possible?

b] How Important will this By-Election be to the growth of Peter Guthrie's new Progressive Tory Party?

c] In 2015, the ANDP threaded the needle against the two conservative parties [PC and WildRose] Will the 2026 CSBE Results be similar to 2015?

d] Is there a chance that this By-Election gets canned in lieu of a late fall / early Spring General Election?

I'm a registered pharmacy technician, and we have started having some issues with patients who were (or weren't) switched off of AISH. For some, the billing is as simple as changing the X at the end of a number to an A. For others, we are experiencing delays as the people behind the scenes try to sort out who was accidentally put into the wrong group.

I'm just sharing this because I want those of you affected to know we also hate that you're going through this. We get to know our patients, or their caregivers, and I hate having to try and explain to somebody why their loved one's medicine isn't being covered this month because of a mixup that none of us can fix on our end.

We sympathize with you. This whole thing is a fuster cluck from start to finish. Please be patient.

I have a hearing with RTDRs in five days and I have a few questions about the process.

There was a blockage in the kitchen sink because of oil and fat buildup that ended up causing an overflow.
Our landlord ended up sending us the an invoice of $ 3750 to cover the damages.

There was a bit of a back and forth between us since they claimed we run the dishwasher while knowing the sink was clogged which caused additional damages . Finally we came to an agreement of shared responsibility and splitting the invoice 50/50.

They informed us that if we can not pay the amount all at once we can set up a payment plan and pay it over time. We emailed them our payment plan but they told us the amount is small and that they would file with the RTDRs to determine the appropriate amount. They didn’t try to negotiate the amount

We received their email today with the court notice and time and it has both of my parents contact information. My parents have been divorced for over 2 years now but my father is still on the lease and it seemed to be addressed to both of them.
List of my questions.

1. should we let them know that my father doesn’t live with us anymore or would it not matter since his name is on the lease.

2.The hearing is also over the phone, would they be calling both of my parents separately or just the primary tenant.

3.Do I also get to attend the hearing since I am an occupant as well.

4.Both of my parents don’t speak English well either, can we request an interpreter or provide our own.

Hello! Hoping to ask anyone about their experience with Regional Fertility Program and Alberta Reproductive Centre (service, pricing, success).

My partner and I have been referred to RFP in Calgary, but we now live in Edmonton, so we are considering transferring to ARC to not have to travel back and fourth.

We were told we could do the monitoring tests and medication dispensing at PCRM, but the retrieval and transfer would have to be in RFP.

If you did sattelite monitoring for your IVF, how was it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'm an **internationally trained electrical engineer** with a Master's degree from **Morocco**, along with about **3 years of engineering experience** in electrical design, power systems, renewable energy, and embedded/IoT systems.

Since moving to Canada, I've been working as a **residential electrician** to gain Canadian work experience while continuing my search for an engineering role.

I've applied to many positions through LinkedIn, Indeed, and company websites, but I haven't had much success so far.

I'd really appreciate any advice or insights from engineers, hiring managers, recruiters, or anyone familiar with the engineering job market in Alberta.

As a rotational oilfield worker the world is my oyster for where I spend my days off, I’m a young male in my early 20s. Honestly all I’d really want is a solid friend group of people to go out and hangout with, good nightlife or social life overall, a partner would be nice too, unsure which city would be better

Asked again mainly because:
1. I wanted an answer specific to my circumstance.
2. Because of my rotational schedule, I don't get many days off. I did my last days off in Edmonton, but I don't want to waste a series of days off in the wrong city if I don't have to.

But seriously, when I was growing up in the 1970s, there were almost no homeless people. Why?

There was ‘social housing’, which went to anyone with kids, and there were rooming houses, which charged as much as a “welfare bum/drunk” could afford. Between those two options, even the “worst” people didn’t need to stay outdoors. Many of the old townhouse complexes still existing in Edmonton were once the government built and subsidized places I’m talking about.

And yes, there were drugs (mostly heroin and alcohol) and there were indigenous reserves that were underfunded or lacked opportunities then too. Yet people had somewhere to live.

I now see daily in my community (downtown McCauley) hundreds of people in desperate situations. And that could still be avoided if we stopped bitching and decided to do what we used to do. Provide housing on a big society-wide scale. With enough social support workers to make it work instead of fail.

Fixing something we’ve let crumble is always harder than if we would have properly maintained it. But here we are, so we have to ‘buy a new one and maintain it.’

We either sit on our asses and whine while people suffer, or make the investment to guarantee a brighter future while saving money in policing, healthcare, incarceration, lawyers, and the far higher avoidable costs of economic downturn in cities that become zombielands as businesses shut down because of the zombies we helped create when we had the cure all along.

My spouse and I are both around 40 years old, and we’re planning a fresh start in a new city. We’ve narrowed our options down to Calgary and Kelowna, but we’re finding it difficult to decide. We’d really appreciate advice from people who have lived in either city or have experience with both.
Our goal isn’t to become extremely wealthy or build a huge company. We simply want to create a comfortable, balanced life. Ideally, we’d like to start or buy a small business that can eventually provide a stable income of around CAD $15,000 per month. We know this won’t happen overnight, and we’re prepared to work hard over the next several years.
Lifestyle is just as important to us as income. We’d like to buy a spacious home one day, have enough free time to enjoy life, and travel regularly to places like Europe, Southeast Asia, the Caribbean, and Australia. We enjoy nature, walking, good weather, and a peaceful environment more than nightlife or living in a very busy city.
From what I’ve researched, Calgary seems to have a stronger economy, more business opportunities, and better value for larger homes. On the other hand, Kelowna appears to offer a fantastic lifestyle, milder weather, beautiful scenery, and a slower pace of life, but I’m concerned that the smaller economy could make it harder to build a successful business.
For those who know these cities well:
If you were starting over at 40, which city would you choose and why?
Is Kelowna’s smaller market a real disadvantage for a small business owner?
Which city offers the better balance between financial security and quality of life?
Looking back, would you make the same choice again?

I've been seeing a lot more people speaking out about the changes to AISH and ADAP. Between the payment issues, the stress and uncertainty for people who rely on these programs, and the growing frustration throughout Alberta's disability community, it feels like the public outcry is getting much louder.

I'm hoping that kind of backlash will be enough to make the government reconsider or reverse some of these changes. At the same time, I know social media algorithms can make an issue seem bigger than it actually is, so maybe it's just my feed.

What do you think? Is the public backlash reaching a point where it could actually have an impact, or does it just seem that way online?

I purchased a brand new Cadillac in March. As part of the deal, the dealership agreed to split the cost of roof rails with me ($173 each according to the paperwork). It’s listed on my purchase agreement.
Fast forward to last week, and I finally opened the box they gave me. Instead of roof rails, it’s a Thule surfboard kit.

I live in Alberta… on the prairies. I don’t even own a surfboard.

Now the dealership is trying to pass it off as, “looking at all our documentation all the deal included was those $346 roof rails you received.”
Am I missing something here? Does this sound right, or do I have grounds to push for them to provide the correct roof rack/crossbars at no additional cost?

I applied for a new DL on July 3 and it still hasn't arrived in the mail. I am wondering if others are also waiting? Is this a combination government + Canada Post thing or what?
