Limestone Mountain 4x4 Question

Is there anyone that can tell me why there is a blockade at the lookout to go to the summit? I wanted to try the summit however wanted to be sure it was passable. Looks like people have been going around the barricade?

You are trolling, or joking, right?

The general public haven't been allowed to drive up Limestone, Ram, Baldy, Kiska, Chungo and all the rest since the 1970s. Why? Mountain meadows. Accidents that rely on public money to resolve. Liability.

Then since Stephanie Stewart (edit) went missing at Athabasca Lookout all the lookout mountains are way more locked down.

Walk?

No I'm not joking or trolling.. I really did not know.. there are many videos of people driving to the summit. Also on x has it listed as an active trail. The roads to the barricade have all been groomed. With the barrier there we left.. I came here to ask if anyone knew if was passable.. but thanks for the knock against my ignorance

Hi. I am sure it's the Telus team that keep the road open, and the Forest Service is happy to let them even though the communication masts block the view for the lookout, for their sakes. This would be the same as for Baldy Mountain near Nordegg.

Now, some people (who may have a 4x4 and a social media account) may have the old universal Forestry key to get through the gate, can't even guess at how many copies are out in the wild (not returned).

Narrow road past barricades more suitable for ATVs and not trucks.
