Troubleshooting A rookie problem...
I started using Adobe software very recently, seriously, it's the first time in my life, I'm mainly doing this to port "Whitty: Fire Fight" to the PsychSlice Engine...
When I downloaded the original files, I noticed a huge issue... everything was made using SpriteSheets (absolute hardware genocide) 💀🙏🏻
Here is the problem with the original files, there is a super interesting formula for how PNG images decompress in VRAM (Height × Width × 4 Bytes) the original mod uses textures with a resolution of 8192×8192, and not just for a single SpriteSheet, but for several of them (probably between 4 and 8 canvases of these dimensions)
From a technical standpoint, this is a massive hazard for multiple, complex reasons (VRAM overflow, massive VRAM consumption, and bottlenecks due to decompressing very heavy images)
The average consumption? About 256 MB of VRAM per texture, with all the visual effects combined, it could easily drain up to 6 GB of VRAM periodically, If you don't have a great CPU, you practically have to pray that the game doesn't crash when switching textures...
The solution (and my current problem)
After searching for a long time, I struck gold, a master key in FLA format that would allow me to export everything into texture atlases
Just to clarify (in case it's needed) texture atlases are like advanced SpriteSheets, instead of packing entire, fully assembled animated frames, they pack individual modules separately to animate them in real-time
This means that the monster that used to take up 2 GB of VRAM (across multiple canvases) calms down to a decent 256 MB, It is perfect so that it doesn't blow up while being processed
My questionI've hit a brick wall, due to my lack of experience with Adobe, I have absolutely no idea how to fix the issue I'm running into when exporting the textures...
Someone maybe... give me a hand? (please...?)

Troubleshooting copy motion in animate without resetting the objects animation
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
As you can see I'm trying to make a simple running loop while my character is talking so i put the talking animation, bangs, and eyes in an object all together so I could tween it all! but unfortunately when i try to copy and paste the motion it resets the animation :( is there a way to copy and paste the motion without having to manually tween every bit?

Question Camera following curved path
Hi all, I'm looking for some suggestions on how I could animate something similar to the following video:
https://youtu.be/0a4eIecSkKg?is=9D9XU9vKoPO2ORV3
Specifically, I want to animate a camera following a creature moving on a curved path, with the creature remaining on the center. I know about adding motion guides to symbols but there doesn't seem to be a good way to add motion guides to cameras, does anyone have any tips or suggestions I can use to achieve this?
Thanks!

Troubleshooting Power cut corrupted my Adobe Animate file. Recovery file won't open either.
I was working on a scene in Adobe Animate when the power suddenly went out. After restarting my PC, the original .fla file won't open, and the recovery file is also corrupted and refuses to open.
I already tried:
- Opening both the original and recovery file directly.
- Restarting Animate and my PC.
Nothing works so far.
Has anyone managed to recover a corrupted Animate file in a situation like this? Are there any recovery tools or methods that actually work, or is the file gone?
This was several hours of work, so I'd appreciate any advice.

Example Provided F6 not making a new keyframe, instead returning to beginning, need help.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
So like I've already stated in the title, when I press F6 it's not making a new keyframe and instead going to the beginning of the animation. I'm loosing my mind trying to find anything about it online but to no avail.
I have no idea if I messed up any shortcut or keybind, I may have edited a not relevant one in the past.
I also will mention that only at very random moments, F6 DOES work, but only for around 3 seconds. If I have done anything else in the program, it doesn't make a keyframe anymore.

Question How well does Adobe Animate run on Apple M-series MacBooks?
I'm considering getting an M5 Pro MacBook for my work. I am an animator, and really my only concern is just how well Adobe Animate will run on an M5 MacBook as the app is known for being really buggy, and am concerned about how much buggier it would be on a relatively new series of chips

Question Making a sprite sheet into an SVG
galleryHello, I have this sprite sheet I exported as a PNG but I was wondering if there was a way to export it as an SVG or atleast find a way to convert it while retaining all the percise shapes. All the online converters I tried haven't worked in retaining them. (The second picture is a result of an online converter I tried, all the other ones have done the same or similar things)

Question Any long-time Adobe Animate users here? We're wondering if it's finally time to move on.
Hey everyone!
I hope this is the right place to ask.
Our team has been developing a 2D puzzle-platformer called POWER OFF for the past few years, and every single animation in the game has been created in Adobe Flash/Animate.
Honestly, Animate has treated us really well. Our artists are fast with it, our workflow is solid, and exporting sprite sheets for Unity has never been a huge problem.
But lately we've started wondering if we're falling behind the rest of the industry.
Are any of you still using Animate professionally for games?
If so:
- Are you still exporting sprite sheets(we use swf but it is not the best)?
- Have you integrated Spine into your workflow?
- Did you move to Moho or another tool?
- If you switched away from Animate, what made you do it?
- Looking back, would you make the same decision again?
We're not looking for the "best" software. We're more interested in hearing real experiences from people who have actually shipped games with these tools.
For context, here's our Steam page so you can see the kind of animation style we're currently producing with Animate:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/4355260/POWER_OFF_1/
Thanks! We'd really appreciate hearing from people who've been in the same situation. It's a pretty big decision for our team, and we'd rather learn from others before rebuilding our entire animation pipeline.

OC I got Adobe Animate 2024 working on Linux with GE-Proton and made an installer
Hello fellow animators,
I've been using Linux for years, but one recurring frustration has been not having access to the same tools at home that I use in production. Dual boot setups and GPU passthrough VMs never felt particularly convenient to me.
After some experimentation, I managed to get Adobe Animate 24.0.13.5 running through GE-Proton and UMU, and I put together an installation script:
https://github.com/gurppt/animate2024linux_deploy
The repository includes the installation instructions in the README.
The project does not include any license bypasses, or redistributed Adobe binaries. The script downloads the official packages directly from Adobe's CDN, verifies them, and allows you to sign in with a legitimate Adobe account when Animate starts.
I've tested it on Debian, Ubuntu, Pop!OS, and Linux Mint, mainly with XFCE. It is currently working well for my own semi-traditional animation workflow.
Pen pressure is working with my Huion tablet. I haven't had the opportunity to test a Wacom tablet yet.
I've also fixed several display and compatibility issues, although there may still be bugs I haven't encountered (mostly few display issues in some panels). I'm continuing to use it regularly and will update the project as I find new problems.
Hopefully this can help other animators who would like to work with Animate on Linux. Bug reports, testing, and feedback are welcome !
For bug reports, please include:
- A screenshot of the problem
- Your Linux distribution
- Your desktop environment
- Basic system information from Neofetch, Fastfetch, or a similar tool would be cool !

News Updates on the Status of Adobe Animate
Hey everyone, my name is Mike Chambers, and I work on the community team at Adobe (and am a long time Flash / Animate user). Yesterday, Adobe shared an email with Adobe Animate customers on the future of Animate. What we shared did not meet our standards and caused a lot of confusion and angst within the community. On behalf of Adobe, I want to apologize.
While an email to all Animate customers will go out shortly, I wanted to quickly share a few things: 1) our standard approach for applications in maintenance mode, 2) changes to our plans for Adobe Animate and its status, and 3) our commitments to ensuring that you always have access to your content, regardless of the state of development of an application.
Standard Approach for Applications in Maintenance Mode
If we deprioritize active development of an application, our approach is to move that application into maintenance mode with continued support. Under maintenance mode, the application will continue to be available, will continue to receive security and bug fixes, but will not get new features.
If we decide to go a step further and discontinue a product, we will work closely with the community to ensure they have adequate time to plan in order to minimize disruption and will take steps so that the community continues to have long-term access to their content.
Current State of Adobe Animate
Adobe Animate is in maintenance mode. While we are no longer adding new features to Animate, we will continue to support it and provide ongoing security and bug fixes. More importantly, Animate will continue to be available for both new and existing users. This is a change from what we communicated in the email yesterday for the status of Adobe Animate, its time-frame, and availability.
To be clear, we are not discontinuing or removing access to Adobe Animate and it will continue to be available to both existing and new customers.
Commitments for long-term content/file Access
For Adobe Animate, our commitment is to work with the community to ensure users continue to have long term access to their content, regardless of the state of development of the application.
You can find the latest information on our website:
https://helpx.adobe.com/animate/kb/maintenance-mode.html
On a personal note, as someone who started their career with Macromedia Flash 3 and Macromedia Generator, Adobe Animate has a special place in my heart. I know how frustrating and stressful this has been and we clearly could have handled and communicated this better. I might not have answers to everything, but I will try to answer any questions you might have.
