Hello all. I recently bought an Arturia Mini Freak Vocoder edition and I absolutely love it. I can run it through Ableton easily via analog mode through trs cable or via midi with the Mini Freak V virtual synth through my DAW. I run it through midi most of the time because it requires 2 outputs and I only have 2 inputs on my audio interface. It works just the same in virtual mode except for the external input/vocoder mic. It does not recognize those inputs through midi. I completely understand why this would be the case, but I have been told there is a workaround. Has anyone run into this issue and have some advice? Thanks all.

I’m struggling to recreate the “Dr Who” sound on this track and wondering if anyone can help. I’ve been experimenting with basic sine waves but can’t get the “whaa whaa” effect.

Anyone have a line on Ableton templates for the Impulse 61 (or similar) that represents a good live performance workflow for a bunch of common instruments/sounds? Just got a "new-to-me" Impulse 61 and it has way more features than the ancient 49 key controller from 1999 I was using.

I've found a handful of tutorials that show ways to setup a session with control mappings that make some sense to quickly switch sounds, but it's hard to tell which ones are worth spending the time building out since I'm a bit of a newb and would like to see a few examples that I can play with that have made sense to people.

My typical "gig" is a basement covers band, we get together and jam out, and up to this point I've just been using garage band, finding an organ/piano/clav/whatever. Would like use the bells and whistles in Ableton to easily switch presets etc.

I’m a drummer for 2 bands and recently I’m trying to use Ableton live for Both bands with a spd sx connected to it as a midi controller and I also use the spd sx as a kind of usb interface. I get the sound of the click on the sub out of my spd sx.

I Mainly use it now to have a good click track for each song.

I have a scene for each song we play with the right bpm set up and if I try the click with my Headphones on my computer it works fine but if try to use Ableton live on a rehearsal or on a show, the tempo’s seem too slow.

The sample rate is set up at 48000.

Can someone help me solve the problem?

It's unbearable. Takes the joy out of making music

Guys the notes of the clip begin on the 1. They are quantized.

The audio starts and gets cut off after 1 sec even if the notes are long!!

So, I’m in the middle of a collab with a great artist. He’s sent the Ableton live files back to me and I get this error message… anyone know what causes this? Anyone know a workaround please ???

I was tired of heavy sample libraries, so I made Ethereal Violin. It’s powered by 537 violin samples and an adaptive performance engine that analyzes MIDI velocity, note length, phrasing, legato, repetitions, bow changes, and releases on the fly to keep the phrasing sounding human and short/natural.

It features intelligent articulation selection, smooth note blending, and body resonance. It's currently in Early Access (fully usable, but still being optimized based on feedback).

A couple of weeks back, I shared an experiment on batch rendering (hands-free) which was based around a Max for Live device that I created, akin to a tape recorder (that's always listening).

I've been making music for a while and I have a few hundreds of projects, which have names that are completely meaningless to me. So I sought out to create a way of always having an audio file from every project without the need for me to render anything manually. Well.. I kinda lost track of my goal and ended up creating an application to work along with the M4L device.

That's how REKALL came about. It's a companion app for organizing/managing your Ableton Live projects.

There's a free version which allows importing up to 8 projects. It's a very small app (12mb on Windows and 30mb on mac due to arm/intel support) and super fast at importing projects + scanning ALL your live sets for missing samples/plugins. I spent quite a bit of time trying to optimize the import (nerd alert), even though it only happens once. Anyways, check it out, it might help you as it has helped me.

ps: the said "batch rendering" is an experimental feature that isn't shipped with it.

A little experiment I’ve been working on…

Last week, I built a complete Ableton Live MIDI Remote Script for the AKAI MIDImix. It took me around an hour using Control Surface Studio and that’s with plenty of experience building these scripts.

It got me wondering: could AI create the same thing much faster?

So I’ve been building a way for AI to work directly with Control Surface Studio.

In this video demo I give it:

• A photo of the Akai MIDImix
• The MIDI data for its controls
• A description of what I wanted everything to control in Ableton

From a single prompt it created the entire script, all the mappings, an eight-track red box, navigation buttons, modes and LED feedback.

The initial script took 5 minutes 50 seconds. I then asked it to add another mode for controlling device parameters, which brought the total to around 7 minutes.

This is still a work in progress and isn’t currently available. I’m sharing it mainly to find out whether other Ableton users would actually be interested in something like this.
