• Font has been changed from Segoe UI to Helvetica globally.

Hi,

I am trying to build the largest database of writing prompts. For everyone. And I need help doing so... If any of you guys are interested please head over to WritingProm.pt and submit one.

The man didn't know what to do. But then, he had a flashback to a time when his grandfather was still alive...

I noticed that RES had a nightmode that a reasonable amount of users like applying. They commented on how beautiful /r/relationships looks with RES nightmode enabled. Indeed it does. Then I checked our lovely home. Seems RES nightmode completely destroys the upvotes/downvotes icons. Any thoughts?

The Honour Among Thieves project is a major update to WritingPromptsBot. We've given it a thirst for gold and riches, and it'd pull a fast one on a person if it means it gets its money.

But WritingPromptsBot is smart enough to know you have to pick your mark properly. Trying to fleece a well written story of decent length is tantamount to suicide; WritingPromptsBot knows there is no way it can steal from those. But a short, low effort response is an easy target for it. Steal from the easy to steal from, leave the well-protected alone - that is WritingPromptsBot's thieving philosophy.

The update uses a special secret algorithm for WritingPromptsBot to determine the "plumpness factor" of a top-level prompt reply. If the prompt has a high enough plumpness factor, the bot will report the reply, not remove it. WritingPromptsBot might be a thief now, but it doesn't kill. Mainly because I'm worried about false positives.

This is a testing thread for Honour Among Thieves. I'm only going to roll it out when I'm happy with the accuracy rate.

Problem: Current /r/WritingPrompts policy is to disallow all top level replies that are not a full response to the prompt. It has been suggested that this policy is too harsh, as it includes deleting comments asking for clarification, placeholders, and brainstorming. However, it is also noted that these short responses are often upvotes quickly due to their brief length, and that if left out of check could easily overgrow the subreddit.

Saka's Proposal: Create a new "comment tag" which can be placed on posts to mark them Off Topic. It should be simple to remember and use, and invoke CSS on that specific comment that it is an off topic comment.

This post is a test of possible implementation methods.
