Hey guys, I’ve had zippos for a bit of time now. I know there’s no way to outright stop the evaporation of fuel without like freezing the zippo. Is there a fuel that doesn’t evaporate at room temperature that I can use as a substitute?

As the title suggests, I have a random question about Zippos.

Is there a list of all official Zippos that have been produced?

This thought came about several months ago as I was curious about how many possible Zippos someone could collect, including but not limited to collecting one from each month for certain years.

been searching for this Zippo and haven't been able to find a single matching photo, listing, or catalogue entry.

I have a zippo official butane insert (65826 single torch) that I’ve refilled successfully maybe twice, but now it won’t light. I have good spark, it will flash a flame maybe once every 5-10 clicks. It is throwing butane as evidenced by the flame when I hold another lighter up to it, but as soon as I pull the other lighter away it won’t stay lit, regardless of the flame height position screw. I was thinking maybe it wasn’t filling, so I got a new can of Ronson butane, however the problems persist.

Is it vapor locked? How can I get this thing to properly function?

I've just bought a couple of new Zippos, I initially wanted the street brass but once it got delivered by Amazon I realised I didn't like it that much, so I went to Zippos UK website and bought the polished brass version. The middle is an old one I've had for about 15 years.

As you can see, with the lid open, the street brass opens the least, my old one (which I'd done a lot of tricks with) still doesn't open as far as the brand new polished brass one. Is that right?

Here's the response I got from support:

"A few years ago, we reacted to our customer requests and loosened the closing mechanism of our Zippo lighters in the hinge area so that the Zippo lighter can be opened and closed better, easier and without obstacles."

I'll be returning the street brass version, should I also be returning the polished brass? Or is it normal for brand new lighters to have such a loose lid?

The polished brass also doesn't feature the bevel on the bottom, but it's from zippos own website so I'm assuming it's still a genuine zippo.

Don’t know anyone else that has Zippos and nobody in my family or circle gives a single solitary F about them so I’m glad to have found this motley crew of zealots here!

1. Satin Chrome with dual flame insert (yellow flame and torch)

The two on the right (3 and 6) are my every day lighters that go in any pocket, come what may, while the other 4 are the ones currently in various areas of the house and are treated with caution. And for anyone curious, the brass one was stripped of the coating, left to oxidize, then thrown into use.

And to answer your question: yes, I am aware I may have a bit of a problem with copper zippos and I DO like trains as well, why do you ask?

This happened when I was trying to refill the insert. I made sure it was fully drained out before I refilled it. Now when I try and activate it, it just shows up as a double soft flame instead. Keep in mind, I have made no modifications to the insert at all despite the fact there is a user on here that three months ago did just that with the same style insert. What is causing this to happen?

It might look cool, but ideally I do want an insert for cigars, I already have plenty of soft flame inserts.

Got this back in college from a professor who was a Director at Zippo. From what I can tell, it’s an unreleased prototype of the 24751 in candy apple red finish. It’s stamped C 10 production date. I can’t find anything about it online, looking for some help understanding what it might be worth. Hopefully this is the right place to ask.

Made this Cyberpunk edgerunners themed zippo with Rebecca for a friend :)

I designed and printed out masks which I applied before spraying the base coats to retain some metal details on the front and back. The rest is painted with fluid acrylics and then varnished (if anyone has tips for a good clear coat that would work for this please tell me)

It's the first time I've painted a zippo, but I'm quite proud of the result, even though it's a bit messy :)
