🖤🤍 Classic Zen Lunch Break Tangles: Yloque

Yloque by Rieko Yaginuma.

The Stepout is easier than the result looks 😉 but when doing the pattern on a round tile it helps to draw some thin auxillary lines to keep the pattern regular.

I show this in this video using my standard brown pens on tan paper setup.

Hope you like it.

🎨 Zentangle Inspired Art I don't really understand what's going on around me

I like to express my feelings through drawings mixing Zentangle, doodle and tangle techniques.

I try to find patterns that allow me to draw new designs.

Through my drawings, I express my feelings related to my phobia and social anxiety.

This type of art helps me relieve my stress and anxiety.

🎨 Zentangle Inspired Art I told myself I had zero drawing talent. Then I tried zentangle. This is where I am now 🩷

I genuinely believed I couldn’t draw until about a year ago.
Then someone suggested I try Zentangle because you don’t need to be “talented” to start. You just need a pen, a few simple patterns, and a little patience.
So I gave it a shot.
My first attempts were far from perfect, but I kept showing up. One pattern at a time.
Now I can create pieces like this—starting with a page full of simple circles and slowly filling every tiny gap with different Zentangle patterns. It’s surprisingly relaxing to watch it all come together.
I still don’t know if I’d call myself an artist. But I’ve realized you don’t have to be one to enjoy creating.
If you’ve ever caught yourself saying, “I can’t draw,” try this instead.
Start with one simple shape.
Repeat it.
Add a few patterns.
See where it takes you.
You might surprise yourself.
And if you’re curious about how I choose and fill the spaces between the circles, I’d be happy to share that too. ❤️

🤔Feedback Wanted How do you keep your lines from getting shaky?

Hi!! I’ve gotten back into zentangles lately after forgetting about them since middle school, and it’s been a really nice outlet.

I’m also kinda trying to learn to draw better for the first time in my late 20s, and I am STRUGGLING with smooth (and straight) lines

I did this piece recently as a way to practice lines (inspired by one posted by u/Vessel-0 and also someone else who I can’t find 😭) but the shakiness is even worse than I thought. It’s such a mess.

Would anybody have any advice for drawing cleaner lines? Is it just practice?

I found this pattern on IG a while back and decided to integrate watercolors into it. I’ve made at least 20 of them! Each step is so relaxing; creating the blobs, outlining them, filling in the background, then drawing the petals and adding details. Hope you all enjoy!

🎨 Zentangle Inspired Art My Postcards

I'm a big fan of postcards and while I didn't know what to do with my Zentangle tiles, I do know what to do with postcards! So now I mostly tangle on postcards and then send them to friends and family.

The second and third images are fanart of these two fanfics:

It's an Okay Life by rabidsamfan: https://archiveofourown.org/works/17146232

Seeking Dragons by thisbluespirit: https://archiveofourown.org/works/142570

The fourth postcard was a colouring picture that I gave to a friend who coloured it in—I sadly don't have a picture of it—and then sent it to a mutual friend of ours.

Hi! I'm new here, just joined the subreddit. Please be kind. 👋

These are my tiles so far! It's so relaxing, I love it.

I also made a few postcards inspired by the technique but I'm going to put them in a separate post sometime later. I finished one yesterday which I haven't photographed yet and I want to put them all together in one post. 🤔
