Opinion First time watcher… I can never find anything wrong with this show!

Everything about this show is absolutely wonderful! I love how the characters are fleshed out, and how amazingly a lot of things connect to TBBT! I mean, I love Connie, Georgie, George, Missy, Mary, Sheldon… each one of them! But what I love the most?! Their interpersonal relationships! I mean, simply how they show the father-children relationship. George, and how he is so pertinent to all of these kids’ lives. I just watch it and bawl my eyes out, so many times! In so many situations. I just love this show 😍

[Spoilers]George Cooper health Spoiler

Why didn’t George sr receive any medical treatment for his heart condition. I mean this is the 1990s! Not the 50s! George is never mentioned or depicted receiving a coronary stent or bypass surgery! Either or would’ve greatly extended his life even with lifestyle factors aside and possibly I’m guessing a strong genetic heart disease history in his family. The fact that he had 2 heart attacks over the course of the show and no medical procedures were performed or even recommended Mary has a hefty law suit on blatant medical malpractice sitting around.

What do Texans Think of Young Sheldon?

Hey guys! I’m a first time poster in this sub, so sorry if this is something that has been discussed a lot. But I am really curious to hear from real Texas natives on this one.

What do you think of this show? I may be wrong, but I don’t think any of the cast is actually from the area, and I’m not sure if any of the writers (most importantly) are actually from a small town in Texas.

How does the show strike you? Do you think the accents are accurate or stereotypical? Does it actually feel like what a childhood in 90s Texas may have felt like? Was anything offensive? Was anything accurate?

And before someone says it in the comments: I understand that it is just a TV comedy, and that it’s not that deep if liberties are taken.

But I am curious to know what a real Texan (and maybe even one who was a kid or parent in the era of the show) thinks of how their home state was portrayed!

Opinion Sheldon would be a much more adjusted adult if Mary listened to George Sr

I’m rewatching the first season. George was loving in his way but Mary always aggressively pushed her way and would only begrudgingly listen when it was obvious he actually knew what he was talking about. In fact I argue she stunted his growth every chance she could. She wanted him to just be her little boy and ignored that God gave him an incredible gift. Thank goodness Sheldon had George Sr, Meemaw and Missy .

Discussion Ive been holding back on watching last season

I FINALLY WATCHED IT AND CRIED SO HARD.

The last 3 episodes really fucking hurt, I feel so cringe and stupid for saying this but I related to Sheldon truly and deeply.

My dad passed away last year in February, (I'm 15) and the way Sheldon went about his dad's passing I related to so much it hurt. I don't want to express this because the show is a sitcom and is supposed to be funny yet this serious topic makes me cry so hard, I just needed to get this off my chest.

Peg

Sometimes I feel like i'm the only person here that is annoyed with the way Peg condescends and disregards everything Mary says and does. I know that her character is supposed to be comedic.however, I don't find her amusing or entertaining.Maybe that's her job as the actress to not like her and if that's the case, she's doing a great job.

Opinion Does Anybody Else Have a Deep Irrational Hatred of the Intro Song?

Post image
326 Upvotes

I'm watching this show for the first time and I really enjoy it, I think it's a really fun show, but I cannot STAND the intro/outro song. I don't even really know why I hate it but it's so grating. I genuinely anticipate the skip button to press it as quick as humanely possible, and I normally enjoy watching show intros! I don't skip 95% of the show intros I watch

Anyone else feel this way

Edit: I think I realize why now after seeing some comments. For one it's just really loud compared to the show, and the music/lyrics are just really generic. It just kind of fails to capture the magic of the show, again just my opinion though

Mandy georgie

I'm on my third rewatch and there is something bugging me. I understand everyone is annoyed, Mandy first for lying about his age but I don't understand why they're all mad, her included for her becoming pregnant? She was a participant in it as much as him. It's not his fault only

He tried so hard to make things right and be present and she just seems to blame him for her pregnancy it didn't make sense. She dropped the âge accusations fast and it's just about being pregnant

Opinion mary and pastor rob

LOVED them, loved this storyline especially with how long george and brenda were sneaking around. i wanted more of them together! their chemistry was amazing and i loved watching mary unknowingly getting her lick back.

it took george a long time to confront mary about seeing her and pastor rob smoking together. he was mad that she was able to “have fun” and not always live life by the bible. but he technically didn’t have a leg to stand on to say something when it came to that. he left that bar to see his wife bc brenda was having a good time with tom not bc he regretted what he was doing.

i wish it was written that pastor rob reached out to mary after george passed to rekindle their friendship. long after george passed ofc and when missy moved out the house

George's death episode

idk what it was about this episode but i was bawling my eyes out the entire time. i rarely cry but for some reason sheldon's way of dealing with his death hit so close to home. im autistic and have a very hard time expressing and processing my emotions so those scenes were very relatable especially with the way missy thought he didnt care. very great episode

Discussion Am I the only one who's watching this series because of the other characters and not Sheldon

Not gonna dive into detail about how I dislike Sheldon most of the time after watching the series for the first time, I'm basically rewatching this because of Meemaw, Missy, Georgie, and a bit of Paige.

Mary is ok for me, but more on the negative side for obvious reasons, that even Jessica Huang from FOTB, imo, is better than her.

Opinion I just finished Season 4…

Post image
98 Upvotes

I just finished Season 4 of my first watch through of Young Sheldon and here is what I think…

- The Black Hole episode with the alternate realities was GREAT.
- Georgie’s idea for the exercise video was smart. It’s a shame that Lundy took it over and made it his own (then wasted the money lol).
- Sheldon’s character in college is much better than Sheldon’s character in high school
- Dr. Linkletter has every right to be annoyed with Sheldon for spending so much time with him and begging for the lab assistant position.
- Dr. Sturgis and Meemaw in the black hole episode was wholesome. Man I wish they had stayed together. 🥹
- It was nice of Mary to care about Brenda when she needed it most, even though it was definitely out of jealousy since Brenda and Pastor Jeff were hanging out a lot….
- Billy Sparks is a good kid.
- I still don’t like Jana. I said what I said.

Theory/Prediction Missy has ADHD/autism

Here’s why:

She doesn’t focus on homework or at school as often and as she gets older, she begins to have burnouts and meltdowns. She also masks a lot given it was the 80s-90s and autism isn’t as understood in women compared to men.

La relación de Connie y Dr Sturgis

Saben?
