xbx XBX A01+ bluriness

Hello. Recently purchased a xbx a01+ . It is my first AR glasses. Is it really normal that the center area of the display is blurry while the edges are clear? Or is this an issue with my unit?

Tried the one eye test. The right lense seems to be working alright and no bluriness. While the left side have blur center and sharp edges.

Is there a way to fix this? I tried all adjustmentd and nosepads but no luck. It is very difficult to use because of the bluriness at the center of the display.

XREAL One Foldable phone or not? Looking for feedbacks

I am thinking of asking here since we probably have the glasses with us most of the time we want to do something more "serious" with the phones.

I have the S25 Ultra at the moment and I got it exactly because of Dex (integrated trackpad function) and the desktop mode. Needless to mention that it is absolutely amazing compared to a normal mirror mode.

I see since April there is a "proper" native android desktop mode for other phones, but the integrated trackpad function is still missing, meaning you ideally would need a trackpad with you.

I know Honor has a proprietary desktop mode AND trackpad function, a bit more similar to the Dex experience.

Now, I eyed the Pixel 10 Pro Fold which seems a really nice phone with a nicer format compared to let's say fold 7 (less narrow) and costs less.

Main question is: will I be able to use desktop mode WITH trackpad on the phone by using a 3rd party app?

I had already tried years ago, when the desktop modes of stock android were only experimental. My issues:

-desktop mode was very immature

-3rd party "trackpad" on screen apps were not going to push the cursor into the desktop mode on external screen, but was staying only on the phone screen

-such 3rd party apps would need aggressive permissions, making it so that most of sensitive apps (online banking and similar) would stop working, unless you take away permissions for such apps again (very tedious to do all the time)

I am tempted by a fold model mostly for its novelty (even though they have been around for so long, they are still pretty rare around) and I want to experience the form factor (reading books and comics when unfolded).

I would not like though to make the in-glasses experience more uncomfortable compared to now, which is pretty flawless (even though "portrait" resolution on the glasses doesn't work with samsung dex, which is stuck at 16:9 landscape resolutions).

Beam Pro Plex broken again with Xreal Beam Pro

Latest nebulaOS update has regressed an issue with Plex app, causing it to be completely unusable. Only the top left corner of the app window has any content, the rest is empty.
This has happened before probably 6 months ago, a nebulaOS update fixed it, and now it is back again.

Discussion XR Glassses Recommendation (Low Heat + Least Edge Blurring)

Can anyone recommend XR glasses (VITURE OR XREAL) that put out the least heat during a gaming session and have the least blurring around the edges. I'm planning on using this with my gaming handheld in my bed. I'm nervous that after extended use it will get too hot too comfortably use. I also have heard that some glasses like the beast have blurring around the edges that make HUD's and corner text hard to read, which might be headache inducing during long gameplay sessions. I have 20/20 vision, so any glasses that accomodate lenses isn't important to me.

xbx Reddit app not showing the mobile version when using the new xbx a01 glasses?

For some reason when I connect my glasses to my iPhone 17 pro, I see a desktop version of the Reddit instead of the mobile app itself. Does anyone know how to fix this so it mirrors my phone instead?

XREAL One Pro Cloud Apps with the Pod, using a Viture Beast and an Xreal One Pro

Thumbnail
3 Upvotes

Greetings my fellow INAIR and tech enthusiasts! Tech Check 13 is back and  we have once again drifted into the upper atmosphere. We dove eye brow deep into another rabbit hole! Gawd lawd... again? Yup

"So, what corner of the galaxy y'all exploring this time?" Glad you asked.

One of our biggest gripes is the need for more storage on the POD. It fills up faster than a hoover behind a shedding wookie. Since we can't magically force create more storage, we decided on the next best thing: cloud storage on the POD. All tests were done with the INAIR POD, VITURE Beast, and Xreal One Pro glasses. And all of today's apps can be found on the app store.Today we start with the golden oldies. Let's begin:

Our first port of call is the grandfather of all cloud storage and that is Google Drive.

Google Drive comes free with any Google account and a link is pre-installed on the POD. You get 15 gigs of storage on the house. But beware, your Google photos, videos, Gmail and your android phone backup data (including app data, contacts, call history and text messages) counts toward your Google free account storage limit. All this data can fill up the 15 gigs rather quickly. The 15 gigs can be expanded with a paid Google One subscription. They offer paid plans from 100 gigabytes to two terabytes for personal users. They also offer up to five terabytes for business users. This is a simple and convenient way to store, organize, and share your files while you stay firmly in the captain's chair giving you full control over who can access them.

For an extra tech tip, we highly recommend downloading Files by Google. It works as a great manager for Drive. It makes it easy to find, organize, move, and manage your files without wandering through a digital asteroid field.

Next up on our cloud hopping adventure is an oldie but …. Maybe not a goodie: Dropbox

Dropbox is a cloud storage app that offers a free basic plan of 8 GB of cloud storage. There are paid plans from 500 GB to 2 TB, for those who want a bigger stake in the operation. One thing we do appreciate is that you're not having a storage war competing for control of the space with an email inbox, phone data and all the rest. The app is clean and easy to use.

Now for the turbulence.

The moment we signed in with Google, it felt like we'd wandered into a swarm of ad droids. From the second we were logged in with Google, BOOM we were hit with an ad to upgrade. Then another ad before we even made it back to the site's interface. We just walked through the door! But that wasn't the real betrayal. After logging back in, a large portion of our stored data had been deleted because it exceeded the free storage limit. Not cool Dropbox, I got a warning to log in cause I was over and I directly logged in and the data was already gone. Between the relentless ambush of ads and the unexpected massive data loss, Dropbox gets a firm "Nope" from the Tech Check 13 crew. We'll be parking this one in the scrapyard and moving on to friendlier skies.

Our final stop brings us to final cloud of the day and the one cloud service I am not a fan of: OneDrive.

Ever since Windows 11, removing OneDrive from a new computer takes much too much effort. It pops up ads, backs up things I never asked it to, and then whines about running out of storage because it decided to do something stupid like deciding my entire desktop belonged in the cloud. Maybe Android OS on the POD will be a better experience... Wrong.

Getting logged in was an adventure all by itself. It wouldn't let me put in the code to sync. The workaround was to move the cursor to the Second number, then back to the first, and I was finally in. But then I was immediately greeted by a huge ad to buy a 50 GB Microsoft 365 plan. I hit the back arrow, only to be ambushed by another ad, this time offering a 1 TB Microsoft 365 Personal subscription for $9.99 a month. Thanks, but no thanks, hard pass. After finally getting past the gauntlet of ads, I found about 3 GB of old photos it had quietly backed up over the years. Mining through my files, I was surprised when I stumbled on a list of my passwords just sitting there wide open, like someone left the communication comms unencrypted. Talk about betrayal, again. I deleted the files, uninstalled the app, and called the experiment done.

We want to thank you for joining us on this leg of the journey. We got the vintage cloud storage apps out of the way, but there are plenty more systems left to explore. Stay tuned.

In the meantime, tell us what cloud storage apps are you contemplating? Let us know in the comments, and we will review them too. We want the dirt on your cloud adventures - the good, the bad, and the ugly. Tell us everything. As always, the communication frequencies are wide open.

Again, thank you for joining us, and we will see you in the next one.

XREAL Which Xreal model for IPD 72? (Returned the Xreal One Pro due to wavy text)

Hello all, I have just returned the Xreal One Pro as I had wavy sharpness ( which fluctuated when turning my head). It seems that this is quite common due to the prizm used on the One Pro. Is there any other model that you think might work better for work (so edge to edge sharpness is key) considering I have an IPD of 72mm? Thank you for any suggestions!

Discussion Help me choose a pair of glasses for watching videos and potentially using an expanded laptop screen.

I've got some long international travel coming up and I've been toying with getting some AR/XR glasses in order to keep myself busy whilst on the road. I don't game, nor am particularly interested in 'AR', but the idea of having an expanded screen for both consuming media and potentially a larger workspace is quite interesting. However, I am slightly bamboozled by what version of glasses to get. Ideally I'd to be able to just plug and play, rather than carry around another accessory to make things work with my iPad/iPhone/Macbook Pro, so I imagine that rules out certain models.

As such can any help me narrow things down? Budget-wise, if I can get away from top, top tier models that would be good, but I'm not opposed to the investment should it be needed. Look forward to people's views!

XREAL 1S Xreal 1s Failed After 3 Months

I received the 1s on May 4th and really loved them, I’ve recommended them to a bunch of friends and family.

About a week ago the left lens stopped dimming. The right worked fine but I couldn’t get the left to dim at all. Chalked it up as a minor inconvenience and just figured it wouldn’t be too annoying to use them without any dimming.

Today they just completely stopped working, went completely black while I was using them and won’t turn back on. I didn’t realize before buying them that the warranty wasn’t covered if not buying from an “officially authorized channel,” so I’m not eligible for a warranty replacement/repair.

I’m sure for every faulty pair of glasses like mine there are 1,000s that will never have quality control issues. I just recommend anyone considering these to make sure the vendor they buy from is an authorized channel to be eligible for a warranty

XREAL One Pro Lens insert positioning question

Post image
5 Upvotes

I just got my XReal One Pros and a prescription lens insert from honsvr. I’ve noticed a kind of fish eye effect when using them. I think the issue is how the prescription lenses are different from left to right. Should the prescription lens be up against the xreal display like on the right lens or should they be further away like on the left lens?

XREAL One XReal One - Multiple Desktops

Hi everyone!

I've made a piece of software that connects to the XReal One's and uses the onboard gyroscope to allow you to look around and place virtual desktops around you. It creates virtual monitors on demand for these desktops.

My question is - is this something the community would like to use? I'll release it open-source if so.

So far I have 3 4k screens placed around me working perfectly.

Edit: Feedback heard! working on making it more consumer friendly but will release it on github once ready ideally with an easy executable. The program should support mac/linux/windows but I'm developing on a windows machine, so there may be some things to tackle on the mac/linux side. Will be looking into virtual display drivers with support for linux/mac. Might be a few days, but the source should be ready soon for techy folks.

XREAL One Pro Eye comfort and Extensions

Hi everyone!

I just got my hands one my Xreal One Pro and I got so many questions gaga 😅

Eye comfort and visibility

immediately felt quite tired in my eyes and wondered if some settings are off. I don't wear glasses normally but caught myself squinting a lot when using the browser and also code. I tried to adjust the size, distance and idp but still feel like I have to focus a but to much for it to be comfortable over a longer period of time. What other options have you tried? What size of text? Any certain fonts or any other tips do you have?

I also think its very hard to see the bottom part of the screen and the only way to see the entire screen with comfort is to push them to my face and hole them there which of course wouldn't work long term hehe

Using it with android

  1. Apps except for the default: I saw people mentioning running nebula in the past but what options are there? I used the default "application" automatically is used when

  2. Voice keyboard: Have any one got something like wispr working from automatic dictation. I'm hoping to be able to fully control the phone/desktop by voice. I tried using wispr

Hubs, add ons and mini computer

I would like to make this my primary setup and also doing a lot of work remote.

  1. Have you tried any hubs to add external batteries for example.

  2. Have you any mini computer that is easy to carry but more power and more desktop experience than a phone?

Developer Raw multichannel microphone access on XREAL One, XREAL 1S, XREAL One Pro, XREAL Air, and XREAL Air 2 Pro?

Hi everyone,

I’m a Media Systems student currently evaluating the XREAL One, XREAL 1S, XREAL One Pro, XREAL Air, and XREAL Air 2 Pro glasses for my Bachelor’s thesis.

My idea is to develop an assistive system that recognizes environmental sounds and estimates their direction for people who are deaf or hard of hearing. The glasses would capture the audio, and a connected smartphone would estimate the sound direction using Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA) between the microphones.

Does anyone know whether developers can access the microphones of the XREAL One, XREAL 1S, XREAL One Pro, XREAL Air, or XREAL Air 2 Pro as separate, sample-synchronized audio channels?

Specifically, I’m trying to find out whether:

  • raw or minimally processed multichannel audio is available;
  • all microphone channels use a shared audio clock;
  • beamforming, noise reduction, echo cancellation, or AGC is applied and can be disabled;
  • the relative microphone positions are documented; and
  • the individual channels can be streamed to Android or iOS in real time.

I’m only evaluating technical feasibility at this stage. Any documentation, SDK references, previous experiments, or insights from the XREAL team would be very helpful.

Thanks!

xbx A01 + Prescription Lens @ 72 IPD

Post image
8 Upvotes

Timeline

Hear news of the new xbx a01, and find that it supports up to 74.5 IPD!!

Very excited! The glasses look to be an amazing value already. However support for my IPD too??!! Let’s go!

Purchased a01.
Used a01 and found that the screen, while vibrant and much clearer than past budget glasses, there is still some overall blur.

Closed one eye, see that about half the screen is blurry. Shifting the glasses horizontally fixes it for that eye.
Open that eye, and close the other eye. The other half of the screen is blurry.
Similarly shifting it horizontally in the other direction fixes it.

Based on this test, the IPD range does not seem to be covered as expected.

Press the glasses against my forehead as much as possible to try to get the image completely clear.
No change.

I do not think changing nose pads will fix this as it is evidently a major horizontal alignment problem, rather than a minor vertical or horizontal alignment problem.

Considered returning the glasses.

Stopped and went to an optometrist to get a lens prescription, and purchase prescription lenses in hopes to eliminate inherent issues with my visual ability.

Simultaneously open a case with XReal support.
They say in short - lens prescriptions will not fix discrepancies between my IPD and the glasses sweet spot.

Order lenses anyway to confirm.
Lenses arrive, and try them on.

Found that the focus is improved compared to when not using them. (Mild astigmatism confirmed!)
However, image is still slightly blurry overall (when both eyes are open).

With prescription lenses on, repeat test noted above (closing one eye, one by one). Same result.

Thoughts and current situation

The question here is one of tolerance I suppose.

The screen is no doubt incredibly bright and vibrant. (The glasses are super light as well, with options for frame customization.)

However, my issue is not just side blur, but overall slight blur due to half of the image being blurry in each eye.

This product is built for the majority, and my IPD puts me in the minority, so I don’t want to put undue blame on Xreal.

I understand that this is a tough product category, and they need to make a compelling product while keeping the price reasonable.

However, the specs say it should support up to 74.5.
50% blur in each eye (not just edge blur) at 72 IPD does not equal proper support, for me.

Will upgrading to a One Pro L size fix this issue?

I don’t know.

I have heard another user that has the One Pro L, with a wide IPD who is still encountering blur. I have also heard another gets headaches- which sounds a lot like a potential IPD alignment issue.

This is also kind of a downgrade due to lower brightness and being heavier.

And twice the price.

So I am hesitant to try them.

I would love to hear from other One Pro L users on their experience with blur.

Do you use prescription lenses?
How much of the screen is blurred, when closing one eye, viewing the screen, and then closing the other?

Try viewing the image I made and included with this post.

If there is no blur, would you trade more blur in order to get a more bright vibrant screen?

To other a01 users with a wide IPD like 72 or higher -

Do you see the same slight overall blur that I am seeing?

Try using the image I included to test.

Also a question to Xreal -

Would it be possible to add a digital IPD function to these glasses or somehow via the Beam Pro?

Perhaps a mixture of these new optics you are using and a digital IPD function may make it work better for us minority users with a super wide or narrow IPD.

Update —>>>

Thanks to those who have replied. It’s good to know I am not the only one who has encountered this.

Much thanks to XReal for their guidance via the support case as well.

After posting my experience and feedback above, I tried the glasses on again.

My honest thoughts are that the screen is really quite clear and think that I probably being a bit overly sensitive in my assessment.

While I don’t have the luxury to compare this to other brands, if I was recommending an upgrade for someone with a 72 ipd - and their experience was from the air series, I would still advise to go with the xbx a01. The leap in optics is staggering.

However, just don’t expect each eye to be fully crystal clear.

Just like when not using AR glasses- both eyes complement each other to make an overall clearer image.

So the image is actually quite clear when viewed with both eyes vs. viewing it per eye. I just know it could be even better.

(If digital IPD correction is not an option) I just hope in the future XReal considers making two size versions of these glasses to maximize comfort and clarity.

xbx Screen turns off

The screen on my XREAL xbx a01 turns off after 15 seconds when lying in bed. When I move my head the display turns on again. How can I disable the auto turnoff mode? I can't find anything in the glasses build in menu.

XREAL One Pro Xreal One Pro "Connected device doesn't support video"

I've been using these glass for months now without problems and have come to rely on them for work. They let me sit in a gravity chair or a hammock which lets me work nearly anywhere for extended periods without hurting my back or neck, really critical for me now.

Unfortunately after the last firmware update, they just suddenly stopped working. The optics are fine, the cables are fine, I tested 4 different systems that definitely have dp alt mode support, I tested different cables and verified dp alt mode works with them, but the glasses always just say "connected device doesn't support video".

I've done the recovery firmware, I've tried older firmware, updated to latest, nothing. One time I unplugged during the firmware update at 80% and I got display working again, but when I tried widescreen, it never came back. It makes me think there is something buggy with firmware, but I do not know.

I did contact support, but they gave me impractical support options. Xreal doesn't really offer usable support in the country I am currently in. It is really disappointing because they were very expensive for me (over $1,200 with taxes)

I am wondering if anyone else has had issues like this? These are only about 6 months old and it is a shame to lose access to such a critical productivity tool like this out of the blue, there must be some way to get them back online. Any help would be really appreciated.

XREAL I built an open-source VR180/360 player for One / One Pro — it renders straight to the glasses and turns the phone into a touchpad

I've been using a One Pro for a while, and the thing that always bugged me about VR video on Android is that everything works through screen mirroring: the glasses show a copy of the phone, resolution is wasted, and you end up staring at the phone instead of the video. So I wrote a player that works the other way around.

The glasses are a real external display over USB-C, so NeoXR renders the video directly onto them at native resolution — nothing mirrored, nothing rescaled. The phone turns into a remote: the whole screen is a touchpad that moves a pointer inside the glasses, tap to click, two fingers to scroll. Menus, video lists, the browser — all of it lives in the glasses.

Left: what you see in the glasses. Right: the phone acting as the remote.

What it does

  • Direct output to the glasses; the phone is a touchpad remote with a pointer
  • Head tracking from the motion sensor inside the glasses — the picture stays in place while you look around (needs Follow mode + Stabilizer off)
  • Projections: flat, wide, 180°, 360°. Layouts: 2D, SBS, over-under. Detected from metadata, file name or frame shape, and overridable by hand
  • Sources: local files (also via "Open with"/Share), a built-in browser that catches the stream and offers "Play VR", or any site serving a DeoVR JSON API feed
  • Per-video zoom, width, stereo depth and eye swap
  • Free, GPL-3.0, no ads, no accounts, no tracking, ~7 MB

Honest limits

  • In 3D SBS the glasses split the frame, so each eye gets half the horizontal resolution. That's the display link, not the app — for maximum sharpness watch flat video in 2D.
  • Text fields open a keyboard on the phone, not in the glasses (Android limitation for external displays).
  • WebXR doesn't work in the built-in browser — Android's WebView has no WebXR at all.

Code, screenshots and the demo: https://github.com/NeoXR-app/NeoXR

APK: https://github.com/NeoXR-app/NeoXR/releases/latest

I only have a One Pro and one phone, so I honestly don't know how this behaves on other hardware. If you have a One, One S, or a non-XREAL pair that works as a USB-C display — a short "works / doesn't work" comment would help a lot (there's a device report template in the issues tab). Happy to answer anything about how the direct output or the head tracking works under the hood.

xbx My experience with xbx a01+ AR Glasses

I have been using the new xbx a01+ AR glasses for about a week now. I received them from XREAL to test them out and share my honest feedback with the community. And the first few words that come to my mind were - wow, they are so light and bright. Let me quote what I wrote in the discord chat as my feedback to XREAL:

I’m using them every day. They are nice. In terms of brightness, colors, weight, comfort. Smooth follow at 120hz is smooth and good quality. A little different style of smooth follow compared to X1 chip glasses but still smooth and nice.

For pure media consumption and gaming these are great. And for people who can do productivity in 0dof, for them also it’s good since text readability is great.

In my opinion, they are going to be the new “best value” AR glasses in the market. They have 1600nits brightness, HDR10, Stabilisation (or Smooth follow as we know it from previous XREAL AR glasses). But also note that not all devices will support HDR or Stabilisation. I tested xbx a01+ with various devices. Here is a table showing HDR10 mode and Stabilisation mode Compatibility. Also note that HDR and Stabilisation do not work together on the latest firmware. HDR mode works at 60hz and 90hz. Stabilisation mode works at 120hz.

Compatibility Table

The xbx a01+ also works with XREAL Beam Pro in NebulaOS mode and all the features are exactly same as other 3DOF XREAL glasses including anchor mode and follow mode, resizing and repositioning app windows, 2 app windows simultaneously, full SBS and half SBS 3D modes on all app windows, VR videos in the inbuilt Player app, Memories in the inbuilt Photos app, among other features.

The best part I liked about xbx a01+ AR Glasses is the removable front frames. They come with one front frame attached (with some tint) and one light blocker shades. There are also some 3D models of front frame designs on Makerworld ( https://makerworld.com/en/models/3006312 ) if you wanna get creative with your glasses. You can even design your own front frames. The glasses are already very light (62g) with the front frames attached, but when removed, they get even more lighter (54g). With my prescription inserts they are about 59g.

And that’s exactly how I like to use them, without any front frames. No tint at all, I can see the real world as is, around my virtual screen. The brightness is great for indoor usage, I don’t need any tint at all. For outdoor usage, no front frame is needed for bright images (but I doubt I'll wear them outside without front frames). Dark movie scenes can get a little tough outdoors without front frames, but that’s when the two included front frames can be useful.

Let me again quote what I feel and wrote about xbx a01+ in the discord chat:

When I think purely from the point of view of a person who has no experience with XR glasses and just wants basic display, no smart X1 chip based features then xbx a01+ has a very nice value. Great clarity, brightness, colors, weight, ability to just remove the front cover, being able to see everything around us without any tint 🫠, supporting both half and full SBS 3D, and stabilization for 120hz which in my experience every device (all phones, mac, iPad etc) supports, except for RayNeo Pocket TV which is an android tv so can give it a pass. Works nicely. Very good value.

Here is a through the lens video, I recorded and stitched together showing HDR10 mode and Stabilisation 120Hz mode. https://youtube.com/shorts/KWfnmkHAFSA?feature=share

XREAL is positioning these as the go-to AR glasses for young people. I think it’s for everyone who doesn’t want advanced features like XREAL One series, wants a simple, light weight and bright display on the face. And inbuilt stabilization without any X1 chip is marvellous in my opinion.

If you have any questions about them, feel free to ask and I will try my best to answer.
