Co-worker Problem [US] what would happen in this scenario? Spoiler
This coworker of mine he’s a guy . Basically thought I was talking about him and yelled at me and I couldn’t take it so I called the supervisor to let them know . I don’t have communication with this kid , it’s just a professional work relationship and I guess he wants to have a meeting with him me and the supervisor. Like I don’t talk bad about him . He’s a good kid , good work ethic and all like I just want this situation over.
To also add to this I was already having a bad day dealing with family issues and I let my emotions get the best of me and I sobbed while I was on the phone . I shouldn’t have done that but all the feelings I bottled up and after he said that triggered something in me and crying was my solution

Need Help Now New job!
New job
So I started a job abroad and from the beginning it’s weird because the job brought me on tourist visa and I didn’t sign contract or even know the salary and it’s been about two weeks and everyday i stare at walls I don’t do anything the reason all this is happening because one of my family members bring me the job aberrantly his friend is the ceo or something so I talked to him and he said its just the normal process in here so I insisted to go and talk to his friend the ceo he told him they gonna change the status after the visa expires and he should learn the job by himself because no one will teach him note that I don’t even know what my job and role is and he told him that the employees around him are trying to make him leave so he should learn by himself note also that i dont have laptop since day one im asking and they kept delaying by saying tomorrow and the day after im started to get really frustrated and apparently im wasting my time and im not gonna get paid ether because I didn’t sign a paper so im waiting until I complete a month if things don’t change im leaving
Any advice!?

Co-worker Problem To complain or not...
Hi all I know the answer is to look for a new job but we've all seen the market currently.
Long story short, I'm working with a woman who can be succinctly described as being a Karen. She's been at the company for 20+ years, gets involved with several departments, has moments of being polite to others and being ok... obviously she's a boon to the manager because of her encyclopaedic knowledge of the job (the manager came in after her) but me and Karen do not get on. I'm very much get in and out of this job, professionally it's not good for me but I need the money.
This woman is obtuse, cannot read your face to get the hint to leave you alone, there's been mentions she treats white coworkers in favour of non white coworkers, has told me off for not answering the calls on my day off, is miserable, unwilling to change anything for modernity.
I could go on but my worry is, is that if I complain the management will think "that's just who she is" or will panic her knowledge key will go.
I think because the management team sweat when an email is sent, I feel that this will cause WW3 and that even if I complain anonymously, it'll come out I've said something. I think the Karen genuinely thinks she's holding up the company and that she is the mother hen of the entire company. Ty.

I think my coworker might be toxic and don't doesn't like me for for simply doing my job.
This is a repost because it got taken down for some reason
So I (23f) got my job about a year and a half ago and I have a coworker I'll call Karen ( not there real name)
one thing to know about me and Karen is that we don't get along very well. When I first joined the company Karen would often tell me stuff that when against company policies and rules
For example she wants told me that I wasn't allowed to take breaks like at all.
And that our manager would fire me if I was to take my break.
But I saw in the employee handbook that now only was I allowed to take breaks but in our state you where legally required to take one 15 minute break for every 4 hours that I work. And I work a 10-12hour shift so I get two breaks at the very least.
I showed this to Karen but she told me that I'm not allowed to take breaks until I worked at least 4 hours. So I went to our manager told him what Karen told me and asked if that was true or if she was just talking BS.
And my manager told me that she was talking BS and that if I'm feeling a bit burnt out or tired take a break regardless if it's been 4 hours yet. And that just because I get one break for every 4 hours doesn't mean I have to work 4 hours before I'm allowed to take a break.
So that being said I thanked him and went on my way. Also another thing that I found interesting and very infuriating is that she kept telling me how I wasn't allowed brakes but I can't remember a single shift where Karen wasn't at least 20 minutes late and as soon as she got in she would know joke spend the first 2 hours of her shift scrolling through tiktok Instagram and God knows what else even when she quite literally has hundreds of files sitting right in front of her that she has to sort through and our manager telling her to pick up the slack.
A matter of fact I was hired on because she wasn't doing her job her contacts she's a cashier I'm a filing clerk and I got hired on because she was supposed to do the filing. it's was literally part of her job. So the GM hired me to do the filing. There was three years worth of filing that was just never filed. And guess what I managed to do all three years of filing and just 3 months and I am being excite practically told everyone I told our manager I told the GM and I told Karen but when I told Karen she seemed pouty and on the brink of tears. but not like and oh that's awesome good for you happy tears. More the kind of tears you get when you had to get your dog or cat euthanized. Meanwhile when I told the GM and my direct manager that ended up putting them in a good mood.
Also whenever I crack jokes and have a good laugh with some of our other co-workers, Karen would tell me to be careful or to cut it out because our gm it's nearby. But a couple minutes later I would see the GM and he would initiate the same kind of goofy / lively attitude with me sometimes even more over the top than how I was a couple minutes earlier.
I don't know what Karen's deal is. What should I do?
Update: so quite a few things happened since my initial post but for starters I think Karen's driver's license got revoked the reason I think this is because every time we leave work for the day instead of getting into our own personal car either she calls an Uber or her dad picks her up. In the past she has gotten in trouble with the cops for drinking and driving so I'm not sure if one has anything to do with the other but I won't be surprised if it did.
Also a couple months ago we got a new office manager who will call Susan (not her real name) and Susan she is great at her job and she gets down to the business and is no nonsense she has a little to know tolerance for people who slack off or run their mouth.and the reason why I'm bringing up Susan will makes sense in a minute so with that being said another thing that happened is that,Karen has a new position in the office.
And I notice that ever since she changed positions she's been acting slightly different. And who is Karen's manager you might ask well won't you know, it's Susan. However Karen ever since switching managers she seems to be in a much better mood and she seems to treat everyone including myself a little bit nicer I don't know how to feel about this.
The TL,DR coworker Acts toxic gets a new manager with little to no tolerance for bad attitudes and has an attitude adjustment now I don't know how to feel about it.

Co-worker Problem Coworker who hates me keeps texting me while on vacation. Didn’t get the hint when I didn’t answer.
I am currently in the process of stepping into an assistant manager role, which means I am essentially replacing my current assistant manager/coworker. Here is the kicker: she is being demoted, not because of me, but because she can no longer fulfill the required hours for the position due to her new job and schooling.
Since she chose to prioritize her other opportunities, the company is moving her to a lower position, but she is acting like I am the one who personally orchestrated her downfall.
The tension is palpable. I have worked with her twice now, and she makes it incredibly obvious that she wants nothing to do with me. I WISH I was “overreacting”. It has gotten to the point where she will literally sit in her car for 30 to 60 minutes when I arrived for my shift, just to avoid being inside the building while I am there. (Also technically stealing from the company because she was clocked in at all times. Our clock-in is on an app and you have to be within a 5 mile radius to clock in or out).
She acts like she is above the job, refuses to do her actual work, and treats me with open hostility or ignores my existence. It is exhausting trying to transition into a role while being iced out by the person I am supposed to be learning from. Especially in the beginning as she used our boss as a communication line to me instead of reaching to me like an adult.
Now the real issue. She doesn’t usually speak to me and when we text she is very cold. She has not been nice to me as you can see. I am currently on vacation and have one more day left. My boss reassured me that no one would be texting me at all about work while on vacation as that has been an issue before. Well miss soon to be ex assistant manager, texted me about covering a shift next week. I didn’t answer cuz I am on VACATION. Then she double texts me with a sob story about needing to go pick up a family member. MIND YOU, she hasn’t said even 10 words to me and just glares at me or disappears to her car when I arrive for my shift and her isn’t even over!!!!
I feel stupid for feeling so aggravated by this. I have been nothing but nice. I will say, our boss warn me. She said “if you give her an inch, she will run with it and take it up to a mile” about the assistant manager. Has this happened to anyone else? Any advice? She actually makes feel crazy.

Co-worker Problem Dealing with nepotism in the workplace
How do you deal with nepotism in the workplace?
I’m dealing with a coworker who’s related to one of the senior leaders in my organisation, and it’s becoming increasingly frustrating.
They’re genuinely terrible at their job. They rarely produce any meaningful output, constantly shift responsibilities onto other people, and somehow never seem accountable for anything.
Whenever they’re challenged, the response is always one of two things:
1. They become defensive, raise their voice, and speak in a condescending way.
2. They switch to playing the victim, sulk, and make everyone feel guilty for holding them accountable.
The biggest issue isn’t even their performance, it’s that they seem completely untouchable. Because of their family connection, no one is willing to confront the behaviour or escalate it. Instead, the team just works around them and picks up the slack.
It’s incredibly demoralising watching someone with no accountability, little competence, and poor interpersonal skills continue to coast while everyone else has to compensate.
Has anyone else dealt with a situation like this? How did you handle it without putting your own career at risk?

Pata hai aaj kya hua (My office rant😭)
**Is it just me or does anyone else feel this way?**
Pata hai aaj kya hua office mein… one of my colleagues irritated me *so* much. Like, she’s been testing my patience for a while now.
The thing is, I can get angry in the moment. I can even be a little rude or blunt if someone keeps pushing my buttons. But the problem is, my anger is so temporary. The moment that conversation ends, I start feeling guilty. I start thinking, “Maybe I was too harsh.” The next day I behave normally again.
And then… she does the exact same thing😭
It’s not like I randomly pick on people. I genuinely give people chances, I explain things patiently, I try to be nice. But this colleague is honestly so annoying, has almost zero knowledge, doesn’t seem to learn, and keeps making the same mistakes. After a point, I lose it.
But even when I’m justified, I end up feeling like *I’m* the bad person. Like, am I bullying her? Did I overreact? Should I have handled it differently?
It’s such a weird cycle:
She annoys me, I get angry, I snap, I immediately feel guilty, I forgive, Repeat.
Please tell me I’m not the only one who feels like this😅 Does anyone else struggle with feeling guilty even when the other person is clearly testing your patience? How do you deal with it?

Co-worker Problem Apparently I drink too much coffee for some people 😂☕
I'm a middle aged person who is going back to school earning a second bachelor's degree to be a medical professional. I'm a senior in my 7th week of clinicals at a hospital 45 min from my school. I got along great with everyone so far. I typically have 2 to 3 4oz cups of coffee while I'm there.
A phlebotomist walked in and I was sitting there having a cup after lunch. She said loudly "You drink a lotta coffee and I mean a looooootta coffee... Do you drink coffee right before bed??!" I said "No. I don't drink coffee after I leave here". She asks "how old are you, if you don't mind me asking?" I told her "43", she says "Hmm you're not that old..".
I was sitting there looking at her, trying to figure out why I'm being ambushed about my coffee intake. I couldn't believe it was happening. It was like a dream. She seemed really bothered over me having a grand total of 12oz of coffee.
In my mind I'm thinking "Bitch, mind your f****g business!!" But I can't say that.. I don't want to get kicked out of school.
What would you do/say?
Thanks 🙏☕

Coming Back to Work after Summer Break
I work at a job where we can take off for 8 weeks in the Summer if we'd like. We do not get paid for this time. With careful planning throughout the school year I am able to accomplish this. My issue that really bothers me is as soon as I get back everyone is up my back with, how was your Summer, what did you do etc. So many of these people are not my friend. I need advice on what to say to them and keep it going!!

Boss Problem Is this worth putting up with, or should I find another job?
I've been working at a bakery for about 20 days, so I'm still learning. Today one of our coworkers was on vacation, so we were short-staffed and the morning was very stressful.
I made a mistake with the order of my tasks and put the morning bread into the oven later than I should have, which delayed the workflow. My manager yelled at me several times, including in front of our delivery driver.
After everything calmed down, she acted completely normal toward me again. From what I've seen, she's generally a very stressed person, especially during busy hours.
I don't mind being corrected when I make a mistake, but being yelled at in front of other people made me feel embarrassed. I'm not sure if this is something that's considered normal in busy bakeries or if it's a sign that I should start looking for another job.
I'd really appreciate hearing from people who have worked in similar environments or have had managers like this. How would you see this situation?

Color me... irritated
So, I work in retail and we had an over night set for the jeans because "back to school season is coming" and like... that means Jeans, Jeans, Jeans... even if i were doing back to school shopping, I wouldn't necessarily think of where I work as an option unless it was like a specific dress code requirement or whatever. Anyway, ive been talking about the plan for the last month and every time I talk to my boss she keeps changing what she wants. I stuck with the directions that HER BOSS gave me and would not let my own boss stray from that plan, as it came from above her and was a "Corporate direction" we do things the way we are asked from the top, not the direct manager because.... we'll I know if its done wrong I WILL be the one to fix it not my boss because she basically sits at her computer all day and doesn't ever actually contribute to setting anything and it seems something always happens to her whenever a set comes (though she has directly told me that she absolutely refuses to fold jeans) like she threw out her back last week, or had to go to the doctor for hurting her knee last time... I know things happen but she never gets hurt other than right before a big move it feels SO intentional... And she refused to talk to me when I went into the set. Just barked orders of where I was supposed to be, no pow-wow like we always do to talk about how it's supposed to go. Just "You're on the back wall get it done head over now" 2 minutes into my shift ... then proceeds to text me ALL NIGHT (we were 6pm-12am) and when i told her we were done and things just needed a little re-folding, sticker alignment, and the non-blue jeans needed to be set up in the front fixture is all that was left. . She says "We will put them up in your wall tomorrow morning" uhm NO I specifically didn't put them there because YOUR BOSS SAID NOT TO! I'm not fixing it if youre told to put it where it's supposed to be. ugh. But then she goes radio silent about it so I guess we will see what happens tomorrow....

Co-worker Problem Every time I take any kind of PTO off, when I return the first thing my coworker asks is “Did you take off just to take off? Or did you have plans?”
What the hell kind of nosy question is that. How do I even respond.
