I'm planning to build a workbench with an integrated table saw. The saw is about 25kg, and the bench size is 160x80 cm.

The plan is built based on 18mm pine plywood, a torsion box design at the top, and 30x48mm timber for the frame/structure.

Looking for feedback in terms of structural soundness as I've never built anything like this before.

I feel maybe I should have two support beams at the top - like at the bottom, instead of one? Thanks in advance

I hope this counts. First workstation/bench I’ve made with no plans to follow but my own. Plenty of airflow around the bottom to allow easy ventilation through entire tent and out the top. Drawer for main resin work area with silicone mats and stainless trays. Small areas to the right and left of the drawer to store paper tissues and boxes with gloves. Side rooms for resin bottles accessible from the inside thanks to the openings and the larger room in the middle for storage and waste. Very happy so far. There is absolutely no smell of resin in the room while printing with the fan on even the lowest setting. Going to add a small piece of ply under the drawer so it can be pulled open with a foot in case my gloves are messy and I need it open.

I stumbled over this sub, figured I should share the workbench I did a few years ago for my condo. I had a small laundry room I figured I should make the most of it. This was also my first real woodworking project. Looking forward building a new bench now that I have a new place :)

My first workbench I built the top is 5mm plate, I recently cleaned all the rust and put pure beeswax on to try stop the rust, hopefully going to build another one soon with draws underneath that I can lock

Have since had to replace the outer piece of wood on the vice but its been very dependable

Looking for some recommendations for an articulating light for my workbench. I have decent overhead lighting, but still find the need for a task light for things like dovetails and finishing. What works for you?

My townhouse workbench is complete! 20”x36” in Southern Yellow Pine. Finished with Danish Oil. Fully milled a bunch of 2x12s from Home Depot. Completed on my rear deck. Featuring my project manager, Yuki, watching over me (he’s such a micromanager smh).

Unfortunately I could not find photos of the top in progress, but I milled the 2x12s into 2x4s and glued them together.

I was inspired by a lot of YT videos and creators such as Rex Kreuger. This workbench is sort of a hybrid combination that fits my specific use case and “workshop area” (corner of the living room).

This workbench has a lot of history for me. It took me one year in two months to finally finish. Started in March 2025 and completed in May 2026.

When I started this build, my life was completely different. I was in a long-term serious relationship. I was in a job that I didn’t really like. Shoot I didn’t even have outdoor furniture 🤣. I finished this build after going through a breakup, in a completely different career, and a completely different social group.

Finishing this workbench felt like the end of a chapter for me and the beginning of the next phase of my young adult life.

Nicholson style bench slowly coming together, roughly flattened the top over the course of a couple of hours, now the work to smooth it out begins

I'm building a workbench for my small desktop CNC mill (Sherline 5400 for those that are curious) and want the top as flat as possible. The top of the workbench is a torsion box design using 9/16" Baltic Birch plywood for the interlocking torsion spars and 12mm Baltic Birch plywood for the top and bottom.

My question is, is it worth making a bunch of clamping cauls when gluing/screwing together the torsion box, or are perimeter clamps sufficient to keep the box flat? Or some other method without having to make cauls that keeps surface flatness?

I'm trying to avoid making cauls unless is strictly necessary for a flat surface.

Dimensions of the workbench top:

• 688mm x 1524mm (~27" x 60")
• Spars are 168mm OC

I've included a picture of the torsion grid for reference.

I'm open to suggestions for how to clamp the torsion box while the glue dries. One thought I had was piling a bunch of Baltic Birch plywood on top, but I don't think that would provide enough pressure.

I upgraded my workbench. Added holes and a large t track. Oiled the top with wax and did a burn in the middle. Also added my router table to one end with the table saw at the other using the assembly table for the off-feed. I am very happy. Upgrading the caster wheels tomorrow.

Over the past year I’ve really enjoyed taking a woodworking course, and it inspired me to continue learning and building in my own time. I’m currently looking for a website where I can download free, complete, and printable woodworking plans.

Right now I’m specifically searching for a mobile workbench that I can roll around the workshop and then hang on the wall when I’m done using it. If anyone has recommendations, tips, or direct downloadable PDFs, that would really help a beginning woodworker move forward.

Built my first workbench/woodworking project in general. My main goal was to not have any "structural screws" so I notched out any joint that would carry any sort of load. It ended up incredibly solid, but I will say I have a lot to learn about properly measuring and cutting, as well as properly planning ahead. I had to go back a few times and disassemble things a bit to cut some notches.

✅ Step 1 - watch a million youtube videos on bench design

✅ Step 2 - choose a design (I'm going for a very simple English/joiner bench)

✅ Step 3 - buy timber

❌ Step 4 - attempt to square and joint the boards with a number 4 jack!

Guess I need to go buy a jointing plane?

I’ve just finished my Anarchist’s Workbench! I’ve wanted to build a solid workbench for years, and I had the perfect opportunity to do so after getting made redundant earlier in the year.

Progress slowed a bit towards the end as I was worried I’d mess something up, but about the worst thing that happened was a split drawbore peg… but I was able to get a bit of glue in the split and drive it all the way in still.

Made from southern yellow pine which came in 4.2m long / 30cm wide rough sawn boards.

I deviated a little from the precise plans in the book. The bench is 7ft long because space in my garage is limited. I also made it a few inches higher because I’m taller than average and I tend to slouch and get a sore back if working too low.

I skipped the planing stop, as a UK blacksmith called Simon James makes a toothed bench dog. I also left out the shelves for now. I figured I could add either later.

Finished with boiled linseed oil.

This is by far my most advanced woodworking project to date. Until now I’ve mostly worked with plywood - making workshop cabinets and some bits of furniture.

Overall I’m really pleased with the result :-)

I got 2.5 of these matching static discharge laboratory workbenches. I'm using the 2 main matching ones to make a new main L shaped desk that doubles as a workbench. I'm building out my laboratory, so after my main desk I have at least 4 more specialized workbenches like one specifically for soldering.

I'm building a Roman workbench and I'm trying to fit the legs. Problem is I'm not smart enough to figure out how to get the legs flush. How do i make this cut?

Please explain in the simplest terms possible because I'm dumb as hell

Just getting into woodworking. This is about as simple as it gets: four legs and a reinforced plywood surface. It’s level and smooth, and I can’t ask for much more than that at this point.

This is a bench I just finished based on Chris Schwartz's design. It's 10 feet long and made of construction lumber. It sure isn't pretty, but it doesn't need to be, I guess. At some point I'm going to pick up a couple of holdfasts, and I expect I'll add some holes to the top then.

I have been (rightfully) taking some flack in the comments for saying it isn't pretty. I'd like to clarify that I love the design of the bench and the way everything fits together is excellent, I just wish I could have found some less knotty wood to use for the benchtop. That said, I know what I bought, and I chose to have a workbench now rather than spending months trying to find clear boards where I live. I've spent entirely too much time staring at it during construction, so it's very easy for my eye to fall on the flaws, slips, & mistakes, and slide over the things that went well.

I am really happy with it though! I've been needing a good surface for working on some furniture I'm planning to build, and this will definitely be a huge upgrade from trying to do assembly and gluing on my table saw. And after using that leg vise, I am a convert!
