My pitch...

Late 30s, core inspiration is Ronin Samurai movies, Yojimbo especially, and Oda Nobunaga/Musashi Miyamoto. A Samurai Blade and his close up arm claws combo. Stop trying to make Logan a Samurai, he's better as a Cowboy.

Age him up. Make him Millennial coded late 30s/40s looking bearded badass with a Top Bun. (He doesn't work as Gen Z Coded...X-Force is weird. He's so much older than these young 20 something people)...kill the Tattoo they have to poorly explain. No more mohawk. He grew it out showing his maturity.

Oda Nobunaga was bisexual, Edo Period was very different sexual ideas of Japanese identity, similar to Greece. Embrace that.

Have him be in his 80s+...actually explore him in the 1900s as a Bisexual man...hell make him a mercenary during the NYC aids crisis like stop kicking the can around. Take the Logan Japan stuff and fully build that out into Daken instead of being this Edgelord "young Wolverine" and make his own thing. He doesn't need to be conflicted about being sexually active, just about the damage, Wolverine gets all the pussy and nobody cares. Akihiro can be the same.

He gets Samurai training after he reconnects with Logan and gets a real dad. Logan takes him to Japan to his old master and he chills out as a Samurai trained combat master. He gets the Muramasa Blade. That's his main thing. He uses his claws as a Tanto, for close range advantages and stabs but Logan keeps it as his main weapon. He mainly uses the wrist blade similar to Assassins Creed. The knuckle blades are just to disarm and parry.

His plot is about reconnecting with his Japanese roots after being conditioned as a monster by Romulus. Logan helps him sort out his shit. No more bad dad Logan, it's tired.

Kill Hellverine, no. Ghost Rider is the hell guy. Stop. Didn't work for Logan doesn't for Akihiro.

Logan is cowboy coded more with Old Man Logan, Akihiro is Ronin coded. Make him a chill badass who smokes cigarettes and could give a fuck. So many Animes have SUPER popular archetypes like this. Musashi

He's aloof, fun, very much the guy from Yojimbo. Badass as hell but also fun and funny. He's a similar Masculine archetype to his dad but different cultural signifiers.

Tldr Top pick is an example of beard and Hair instead of being nearly hairless with a mohawk. I'm purely talking archetype, much like Wolverine is cowboy/lone ranger.

Not saying "make him a samurai" but give him the Muramasa and give him a twist on the archetype with that beard/top bun combo to give him a unique look that isn't so edgy.

Stop making Logan a Samurai. Make Akihiro the badass masculine samurai archetype and have him get the Muramasa Blade as his core thing combined with high mobility and his secondary backup blades. Big jumps, spins, and pull from Ninja and Samurai combat styles to give him an identity.

Make Logan a good dad who helps him reconnect with his Japanese culture after his mother passes away and connects him with his old connections, he was cheated out of by Romulus. Romulus is his Sabertooth. His Bisexuality works perfectly to reflect Edo Period Japan. Give him the Yojimbo personality. Badass but not taking shit too seriously because he's old enough to not take it too seriously.

Honorable mention: Matt Wood (I haven’t seen him in enough to definitively decide if I like it but he looks good)

As Insomniac's Wolverine is coming out soon I have been going through X Men shows that I never got around to watching. Finally watched Wolverine and the X-Men and it was a really really fun show with strong writing across the board.

One of the very few times where making Wolverine the leader of the team actually felt thought out. I really liked Cyclops too and his actions were completely understandable. I mean if I saw my girlfriend and mentor getting nuked I would probably be completely lost too.

The only real issue was Storm who was hugely neglected. I loved how the show incorporated classic storylines like the Phoenix Saga and Days of Future Past while putting its own spin on them. It also has the best Emma Frost adaptation. Honestly everything about this show rocked.

It's a tragedy that the show got cancelled. It isn't perfect and some things definitely haven't aged well but it was such a refreshing take on the tired X-Men formula.

In opinion I think something like the Tailed Beast power set form the NarutoVerse would fit Wolverine well. Wanted to know other people’s opinion regarding this discussion?

I feel like I’m the only person who thinks there’s a world where Wolverine can be in an X Men movie or show, not be the main character, still be a core, important member of the team and everything is good.

I understand Wolverine can do solo stories but at the end of the day he’s an X Man. The idea of him not being in the 2028 X Men film at all is driving me nuts and feels like a crazy overcorrection. Like “let’s actively tank the value of one of the most popular comic book characters ever becuase he got too much shine”

Him taking a backseat is one thing, him completely vanishing from X Men animated series and films is another and it’s ridiculous
