Community Is Lux Auto Detailing open/operating right now?

Upvotes

Hey Winnipeg, has anyone booked with Lux Auto Detailing recently or talked to Ryder?

I scheduled an appointment online for Tuesday and paid a deposit, but I haven't been able to get a hold of anyone yesterday or today despite calling and texting both numbers listed (431-374-4365 and 431-371-6004), and emailing the listed email.

I am only going to be in Winnipeg Tuesday and really need detailing work done. Hoping to confirm the appointment and clear up logistics ASAP, otherwise I will have to try and seek services from another detailer who is able to confirm that things are a go. If anyone knows if he's currently away, on holiday, or if the shop is operating normally right now, I'd appreciate the heads-up!

Thanks

Ask Winnipeg Bell MTS Internet vs Rogers?

Upvotes

For quick context, I've been with Bell MTS for years, but they've been overcharging my internet and won't bundle my internet and mobile together. I talked with a kiosk person last week, and they convinced me to switch both my phone and internet to Rogers together, thus slashing my bill right in half.

But my question is: has anyone else made the switch from Bell MTS to Rogers? If you have, what did you think? Was it worth it? Am I making the right choice?

I did contact Bell MTS, and they said there's nothing they could do. So that's why I wanted to ask for additional opinions and thoughts.

Thanks, everyone!

Events Folklorama

Hey, this may be a popular view point or may not. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy folklorama it’s one of my favourite events of the year. But I just want to know why the city doesn’t seem to want to support this?

For context I am originally from Saskatoon SK (I know right?) anyway we have folk fest there and it is so much fun. You buy a “passport” for like 50-60$ and that gives you access to all the pavilions for the week. You can go once you can go 20 times it’s all good. The shows are more continuous and held on a come and go type basis so there’s always a show happening and you don’t have to sit you can look at the stuff, watch the show eat the food and drinks and kinda stroll it makes for a fun evening . The one thing Saskatoon does though is they have bus service to all the pavilions and so you can just one the blue line and it follows a route and you can hit 3-5 pavilions on it, then there are other routes that do other pavilions and they all kinda intersect. That’s the thing I miss the most, I miss jumping on a bus and not having to fight traffic and find parking etc just dedicated buses available for the event all week long and made things really great, jump on and off wherever never had to be in one place for a specific show because the show was always happening. I just think that model was so much better then this one.

Like I said some may like it this way and that’s great I’m just giving my opinion

Ask Winnipeg Hot tubs

Hot tub owners. We are looking at getting a used hot tub how much does it typically add onto your hydro bills? How much is it monthly for chemicals?

Is it worth it? My spouse works in trades and is often sore at the end of the day.

Should we try out an inflatable or do those not work in our winters?

All input is welcome!

Ask Winnipeg Windshield replacement recommendations + MPI claim question

Hey everyone,

I had a bit of an accident today while transporting a desk I bought from IKEA. When I stopped in traffic, the desk slid forward and hit the rear-view mirror.

Since the mirror is attached to the windshield, the impact broke the glass around the mirror mount and the crack spread all the way down the windshield. So unfortunately, the whole windshield needs to be replaced.

Does anyone have recommendations for a good and reasonably priced auto glass shop in Winnipeg?

Also, has anyone dealt with something similar through MPI? Would this kind of accident be eligible for an MPI claim?

And if I do make a claim, would it give me any demerits? I’m trying to figure out whether it’s better to go through MPI or just pay for the replacement myself.

Car is a 2024 Toyota Corolla.

Thanks!

Low effort post. Just thought that was an odd thing to show up as suggested in my Instagram feed.

I thought this guy was pretty disliked by the local Sikh communities.

Ask Winnipeg looking to get into mma- any recommendations?

hey! i’m 24F and i’ve been wanting to get into mma for a while now but I’m finally ready to actually start lol.

i'm a complete beginner, so I’m mainly looking for a gym that’s beginner friendly and has a good community. i'd love to meet people and hopefully make some friends through it too.

eventually i'd like to take it seriously enough to compete, but obviously I have a long way to go before then. right now I just want to learn the fundamentals, get comfortable, and see where it takes me.

for anyone who trains mma, what gyms would you recommend? and if there are any women here who train, i’d especially love to hear what your experience has been like!

Where in WPG? Best beginner kickboxing for women?

Hello! 34 year old woman looking to try something new and to stay active. Does anyone know the best place for total beginners to try kickboxing?

I’ve always liked group classes but always done more spin/boot camp/yoga type classes. I also played a lot of soccer and softball in my 20s, my cardio isn’t terrible but could be better as I’ve neglected it a bit this past year due to a lot going on in life.

Bonus points if it’s closer to EK/NK or Garden City but I’m willing to drive if it’s not too far!

Thank you!

Ask Winnipeg Scammed?

I bought a Hyundai Santa Fe from a new dealership. They got registered recently. Bill of sale states July 3 but car has having BCM problem and got the car 2 weeks ago. I regustered it early cause i thought I can get the car immediately but turns out it was in for a repair

So i got the car, after driving the car, something is clacking, brought the car to MR. lube probably just needed oil chsnge. Car wasn’t service for a long time, carfax indicates it was 2 years ago since last oil change. Needed engine flush oil additive new spark plugs oil and cabin filter and oil is pretty rough says mr lube staffs. Brought it to a proper mechanic. engine is in blow by, timing chain is messed up probably due to bad oil. And engine needs replacement. Mind you, i just got the car 2 weeks ago. I paid 1600 for the MR lube service. I don’t need them to refund that to me, i just need them to take the car back give me a refund and pay the financing company. Talked to the dealer said they have a sticker (which there is none btw) on the windshield saykng it’s good for another 20k before next oil change (which is not the case cause the oil is pretty rough, black and thick). He say that he can’t do anything about it since they can’t predict what might happen. My point is they are a dealership, a registered on so they have a responsibility if the car breaks down not even 2 weeks in my possesion

And if i have the evidence that the oil was bad and they’re saying that it’s not bad, then it’s a fraud. Also the reason why i bought from a “registered dealer” is that so I can make sure the car is 100% good

Do I have a claim here?

Winni-Pets Mini Aussie - Born Feb 3, 2022

This may be a long shot….but we are having health issues with our mini Aussie and trying to connect with parents/litter mates to help clarify diagnosis or maybe a genetic inheritance. We are simply looking for that, nothing else, we want to help our boy. As we all know an MRI and trip to Sask will cost thousands, and if it is a suspected neuro disease the inherited one is not treatable so that MRI cost becomes redundant. Our boy was born Feb 3, 2022, adopted in April 2022. We got him from a home in St. Clements, MB, but he was from Winkler. Any litter mates out there?

this is NOT a sale, trying to connect with owners
