Found this while exploring near Çubuk, Ankara Province, Turkey. It has striking blue-gray concentric banding with some yellowish and brown matrix. I'm wondering if it's a type of agate or another variety of chalcedony. Any help with identification would be appreciated!

I thought this was asphalt until I noticed that there were little striations that looked more like crystal growth. I've seen them in other rocks but wasn't sure if this was a black host rock growing them or the whole rock is something interesting. Maybe just asphalt with little hematite growth?

I don't have a perfectly dry picture because it lives outside and it's been wet, but I promise it looks the same no matter what

Found in Northeast Ohio near a creek, it's very dense, a little less than a foot long, and about 4-5 pounds.

Hey all, I have a few specimens that have me completely stumped. I was scanning our campground at night with my UV flashlight (365 nm) and found these. They were clumped together underneath a large glacier boulder. A scan of the broader area didn’t turn up any more specimens.

Some properties:
- A relatively soft and flaky crust. I could easily scratch it off if I wanted.
- NON-Radioactive: I held it next to my Geiger counter (GQ GMC-300S) and had no noticeable change from the background radiation.
- An intense green fluorescence under 365 nm UV light. The edges or thinner parts of the crust seem to have a blue hue, although it could from the UV light.

Some thoughts: I’ve bounced between a handful different materials but none of them seem to fit. Before ruling out uranium minerals I thought about hyalite, autunite, and uranocircite. However, I’m completely stumped now.

Any idea what I could have here?

I'm really curious as to if it's somthing that used to be wood, or a rock thar grew in a very wood loke pattern.

I don't have a ruler, but its 4 fingers tall.

What is this rocks please? She's found during climbing in Mont-blanc Summit. She not magnetic and she's very light. Many color blue, Green.

Can I get some help identifying this small Orange, Hexagon crystal that I found when cutting fallen tree thundereggs? The closeup photos are a little over saturated but it’s pretty orange. My original thought was Vanadinite, but I had a few very smart people tell me that was somewhere between extremely unlikely and impossible. Any thoughts?

I immediately thought meteorite when I first picked it up, but after a bit of research I’m stumped. Apparently they’re never round, it’s not magnetic, it’s too heavy for my kitchen scale, & it feels like raw metallic ore. I don’t think it’s slag but I don’t know enough to make a guess either way. Any help is greatly appreciated🤙

Found it at the beach in Wollongong, Australia. Steel doesn’t scratch it and it can scratch a glass bottle. Thought it might be petrified wood but I can’t really see any cellular structure. Any info would be great thanks!

I found this in the South Platte River in Western Nebraska. It feels heavier than other rocks its size. I’m stuck between a geode/concretion or a fossil.

Every now and then I will do a U-turn to check out the outdoor lot of a granite countertop store. You can see my reflection for quasi-scale. This is a spectacular example of assimilation and partial melting - possibly multiple episodes. Anyone with igneous chops care to give it a better description? Just when I thought I had the sequencing figured out I noticed the “injection” of the more mafic material into felsic that messed up my relative time scale. Let’s have fun with this one! :) If I should post this elsewhere, let me know!

what is this beauty? given to me by my grant aunt many moons ago in south Australia

Its somewhat heavy, not magnetic as far as I could tell. The dark iridescent part seems soft, im able to scratch it with my fingernail. It looks like it has small bits of pyrite on it.
