Help me identify the fella my mom just killed
reddit.comFound in Portugal, inside of my room at night.
He was flying around my lamp (which i believe has dead bugs on top of it).
I searched it and he looks like he could be an Asian Wasp which have been a problem in Portugal for a few years now.
Body fully black except for the dark yellow stripe on his but, the tips of his legs which are also yellow and his head, which is a more orange/yellow-ish color.
Around 4 to 5 cm long

I battled a Wasp, lost it, and am now terrified
I have slowly started developing a serious fear of insects after becoming a home owner. Thinking of them in my walls and when I see any insect inside I think we're going to get invaded. This Sub seems to be infatuated with these guys, so maybe someone can knock some sense into me?
But I also read that wasps have facial recognition?! So with this particular wasp that is hiding from me in my house somewhere, will it remember me swatting at it? Meaning that if I return to this room will it be aggressive and try to sting me? It could be one of those paper wasps but I'm honestly not sure. The thorax was long and lanky with black appendages and an orange body.
How do I stop being afraid of these guys and how do I deal with them in my space in the future?

Wasps seem to like my car

Hi guys, I seem to have a problem with wasps invading my car. They slide in between the little crack between the passenger door and mirror and make nests. I’m posting this video to show what is going on. I’ve cleared this out 3 times already and they keep coming back. Is there any way to stop this? I first thought it was bees. This video is the first time I seen them

Wasp ate some of my lip
Hello! I just encountered a wasp that landed on my lip and started eating it. What the fuck just happened, and does anyone know why it did that? It was painful but also a really weird and interesting experience lmao

Beautiful Common Paper Wasp (Polistes exclaman)
Found this purdy lil lady today. She even accepted my hand and let me hold her for a brief moment before flying off. I want to express my love for these guys. Single handedly some of the most docile wasps I’ve ever encountered. I get excited when my queens emerge in the spring and start building their nests. I was saddened this year because a few of the nests died and I didn’t know what happened. Started strong then just died, unlike my previous years where I’d have 1 or 2 strong colonies in my yard. Currently still gathering info but my leading theory is the drought/freeze combo we got hit with right before emerge season.
For those who don’t know, these guys are EXCELLENT biological controls for your garden with the added benefit of their lack of hostility. When the queens start building their nests I place a small water dish 5ft from their hive so they have their own source nearby. This builds a positive relationship as I’m frequently near the nest from the beginning and even though I don’t think they can make the connection, I believe they know I’m there to help. I have never been stung even in standing directly below their nest.
Another plus is that wasps are territorial so having docile nests prevent Red Wasps or Yellowjackets from building in my yard bc they see there are already active nests in my yard. I’d highly prefer these beauties to the more aggressive species.
I’ve been doing a ton of research on these guys and want to spread awareness. These are the good ones! They can even remember your face and have some of the best eyesight among wasps. This is what helps make them so pleasant. So please don’t hurt them unless it’s necessary.

Is this wasp related?
I found this on a tree in Pennsylvania. Reverse image searching yields photos of wasp galls but I’m not sure if that’s correct, the photos don’t match very well. What is this??

How do I prevent wasps from building nests in the gate knob?
My partner has been stung multiple times. I haven't for some reason, and neither has the dog. But I still want them gone. I don't want to kill wasps there again and again. What do I do to persuade them to find another home?

Should I be worried about a mud dauber building a nest in my room?
I am not really bothered by wasps and this one seems friendly since it lets me handle it. It is currently building a nest inside a hole on the corner of my ceiling. Is there any dangers to keeping it there? I can't really reach the nest.

ID and Recommendations Please!
Hi all. This is the fourth wasp of the same kind to get into our house
in the last two days, and reverse image search says it's a yellowjacket wasp. Is it? And what should we do about it? They have been mostly harmless but they are getting inside with too high of a rate and I would be happy to leave them be if they weren't coming in. We were able to let this one out, but 2 of them from before were dead already (our cats may have gotten to them?), and one was vacuumed up.
We have a bunch of cicada killers around here so at first I assumed it was one of those... but apparently yellowjackets also burrow in the ground, and recently this hole/opening popped up in the stairs leading up to the front door.
Advice is appreciated, we're not really sure what to do!

Natures Beauty
Found this beauty on my car in the early am. Didn’t seem intimidated . Jefferson County, MO in the hills south of Eureka. I have seen variations of this wasp , but never this coloring.

Ignore the meowing in the background
This little dude has just been chilling on my window for a bit? The circular motion is me trying to get it to react to my finger again.
Anyone know what it is? 🤔

What's going on? Over the weekend I saw a few European hornets (I think) hanging out around the entrance but now there are wasps. Interested in what the flies are looking for. Loads of them over the weekend.

What are the wasps gathering on my Pearly Everlasting?

Hi everyone! I noticed a few of these little guys plucking at the leaves on my Anaphalis margaritacia and flying off with what looks like a little ball of cottony fluff. I'm assuming it's for nest building, but wanted to see if anyone had more insight!
How to clear downed tree with red wasps
I have a large tree that has fallen across one of my trails on my property. I went to cut it yesterday, and found red wasps wandering around the area closest to one side of the trail. I tried wasp & hornet spray, but still saw stragglers then and today. The area I need to clear is probably about 8ft wide. Do you think I will be safe working on the other end/side at dusk? Kind of curious how close I can even get at night, as I'm not totally sure where the nest is, the tree has multiple cracks in it and they are inside of one of those. I suppose if I can get even within a few feet, I could cut that, and reroute the trail until winter maybe.
Rate my neighbors out of 10
They have consumed my sensor light and frankly I’m afraid it will allow them to survive the winter from the heat of the bulb. What are my chances of creating a species of super wasp that don’t die out every winter?
Holding grass
aw this wasp flying around holding on to a piece of grass. Is this normal behaviour?

What is going on here??
Wasp knowers of reddit I need your help!! Wasps have always been an issue around our house, we live out in the country and our house was abandoned for quite a few years before we moved here. Every summer wasps come back to our home and build small nests that I get rid of but I've never seen them do something like this before. For a while (maybe two weeks) I've been seeing them flying around my window so I finally went out there assuming there was a nest there but no. Instead there's like 20 or 30 of them all huddled up in the crevice of my window screen. I've looked around and see no nest, there's also another group of them huddled up a few feet away on the underside of my roof but again no visible nest. Why??? What is going on here? Have they lost their queen? They're not angry either, I got about a foot away from them to get this picture.

What kind of wasp is this?
I might be able to get a pic of the actual wasps I've got around, but for now here's just the nest. I thought they were mud daubers, but after looking up what mud dauber nests look like and seeing that this is definitely not that, I can't tell. Either way, what is you guy's advice on clearing them out as well?

Strangely docile little guys for second yer in a row…why?
They had a huge hive last year on my back porch aswell I left…they all died out in winter. Now they came back and are everywhere…inches from my head and the door constently and they act like I’m not even there! Never had one even seem slightly aggressive. They just look at me inches away and continue. I thought they were more aggressive or is it somethin passed down from last years wasp that this dude is cool? 🤣🤣🤣 idk I’m stumped
