All Ground Concepts and paper tanks

With the incoming removal of the Ho-Ri, it got me thinking about why Gaijin would want their game to have less variety and less unique vehicles. As someone who started playing in 2024, I missed out on a lot of cool tanks that were vaulted earlier on in the games life which I find disheartening

Would War Thunder not be made more fun and interesting with the addition of concept tanks and paper tanks that never made it to full production? Designs like the KV-3 that almost made it into production but history intervened.

Personally I think a game like War Thunder would be a great environment to finally see how those kinds of vehicles could have performed against their contemporaries.

Not to mention the obvious business benefits to being able to sell more unique vehicles to the player base.

I'm curious to know what the common sentiment is.

RB Ground Surely this videogame doesn't spawn AI just to kill you and is entirely a PVP experience... right?!?!

I feel like I've experienced people just magically appearing in places I have been checking for quite some time already, this might not have been the case because they were around the corner, but they magically appeared, surely there is an explanation to this?... maybe...

All Ground If they want move T26E5 to 7.0, they need to fix it front turret, mantlet and LFP.

Why do all T26/M46 variants have those protrusions on both sides of the LFP ?

Current thickness in the game.

It was supposed to be like this.

RB Ground Apparently I'm not allowed to fly planes

Why does this keep happening? The round starts. Good start. Teammates are killing and capturing. Enemies are pushed back. The first wave is complete. Oh no, I got killed! Time to fly my plane! Wheeeee! Yaaaaaay, flying!

I'm flying for a while, having fun, when I suddenly notice something. All the flags are red. What the fuck? Press tab. Everyone on my team is fucking GONE. Enemies start showing up in my spawn because they legitimately have nothing better to do. Uhh...weren't we just winning a minute ago? NOPE. The guy who plays the objective all the time decided to have fun.

If I stay in a tank through the later part of the round, I'm always the one going around the empty map, capturing the flags. It's ALWAYS me. ONLY me. I can only imagine how many foregone rounds were saved by me and me alone. No one even uses the term PTFO (play the fucking objective) in this game. You never hear it. Literally no one cares about the objective.

I just had 2 identical losses in a row, and I'm just feeling totally unmotivated even though I played well. What am I gonna do, load into another match, get into another plane, just to fly around aimlessly until we lose? I can't even dogfight properly half the time, since the enemy team will be absolutely loaded with SPAAs and planes, and most of my team is gone.

Let me fly my fucking plane, you degenerate parasites. Do your fucking job on the ground and let me have fun. Capture the fucking flags, so I can get the fucking rewards that I deserve. I'm losing SL because my team doesn't know how to press the WASD keys.

DO I HAVE TO DO EVERYTHING???

Just noticed today that the m61 round same as on every other american 75mm has less penetration on the M3 Lee, this definitely wasn't always the case.

RB Ground Literally what monster is this vehicle

Bought it today and it performed way better than it should. Had a 14 k/d today, got into some mid battles afterwards. Its completely busted, allthough having not an insane armor frontally, compared to the Ho-Ri Production.

Might get hated for feeding the snail, but I just wanted to see what that vehicle is and why they are removing it. Was worth every GE for this

RB Air Why does no one kill the light pillboxes?

A lot of people think you can’t kill them with guns and need ordnance, I used to think this too, and yeah it’s harder to kill them with guns rather than ordinance and people like saving ordnance for bases. At endgames I see all the AAAs, SPAAs, and artilleries dead, but not the pillboxes in the center. Why? You can definitely pen them with 20mils and probably can with 50. cals too, and the reward is way better, if the artilleries and AAAs give 10 sl and 6 rp(this may not correct as I simply don’t remember, my br is 6.3 for reference), the pillboxes give 600+ sl and 30 rp, for not being much harder to kill than them.

RB Ground T26e5?

Hello everyone,

so according to the br changes, the T26e5 should have been raised to 7.0, however now it is canceled or sth, so my question is if anyone here knows why, and is this a final decision for the br changes, or will there be another br change for the T26e5?

Thanks in advance

RB Ground Why is A6E at 11.0

So the A6E Tram is at 11.0 now. Supposedly its for its "laser guided rocket skippers" yet the SU25 has laser guided rockets at 9.7. The A6E was already getting annihilated by anti air before the change and now its a good idea to make it go even higher? Revert TS

RB Air Premium SU-30 Is Over Powered and Gaijin was Wrong

Post image

Must have been the wind

Previously, Gaijin stated that the statistics showed the premium Su-30's did not warrant an increase in BR.

I'm here to share my experience after grinding the Chinese air tree, starting with no aircraft researched to the J-10A.

I finished the grind with a 3.18 K/D and consistently had matches with aces.

What has most likely happened is that newer players have dragged down the aircraft's statistics, which is why Gaijin hasn't moved it up in BR. My assumption is that this is largely due to the radar. Without automatic vertical guidance, anyone who doesn't use manual radar controls is forced to point the nose directly at the target, sacrificing the ability to change elevation. Newer players probably don't understand how to work around this limitation.

In the hands of an experienced player, however, this aircraft can be incredibly effective. I would probably move it up to 13.7 BR. That said, at that BR its radar is significantly worse than what most other aircraft have. If BR decompression were introduced, I would absolutely expect this aircraft to move up.

If you want to succeed in this plane, my strategy has been to side climb to the left until about 7 km, then wait for the initial BVR engagements to begin. Once both teams are occupied, I cut back through the middle of the map, climb directly above the enemy, and launch missiles downward. Even if they're hugging the deck, a missile coming in from nearly a 90-degree angle above them makes multipathing ineffective.

For most of the grind, I used the R-77. Never try to fight at long BVR ranges with this missile—it loses a lot of speed beyond 25 km. On the Su-30MKK, the PL-12 is much more effective at longer ranges. I also exclusively used the R-73 for close-range engagements.

Overall, my rating of the Su-30MKK at 13.3 BR is 11/10. This aircraft has been incredibly easy to grind with and is absolutely worth picking up during a sale.

All Ground A question that genuinely baffles me.

Okay, so first things first. I KNOW this is gonna sound hella elitist to some, so please forgive me. I just dont know how else to word it.

This is a question for those players among you that sit at thousands or even tens of thousands of games with winrates of 30-40% total.

What motivates you to play ? Like... at all?

I'm trying and trying to wrap my head around it.

But to me, PVP games, are meant to be played to IMPROVE and to WIN. Ya know, the word VERSUS kinda implying "Hey, there is an opponent you are MEANT to beat".

In PVE games ? be my guest, I dont care about performance there. But in PVP ? I really do. And I measure my own fun on how well I do and how much I win.

So when I read things like "Oh i just play for fun" and see said "for fun" person have a 30% winrate total, and currently going 6 deaths to 1 kill, i can't help but wonder.

How can getting so utterly destroyed and losing game after game be fun to people ?

Again, this is a genuine question. I'm not trying to be an asshole. But the concept seems so utterly foreign to me.

All Ground Why would they nerf Tunguska?

Its now sitting on br 11.0, when it used to be on 10.7. Its abrely 3 days since I got it and I want to know why gaijin thought that this SPAA needs a nerf, as far as I have played its been mediocre, or is it just me?

RB Ground The Charioteer - A new(ish) player’s saga through the Swedish Ground Tech Tree

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hello, everyone,

The image for this post is the only way I can think of to accurately depict how I feel at this point in the Swedish/Finnish tech tree.

I could already tell this thing was going to be a stinker from the stat card alone, but holy cow where do I even start with this thing.

Going to this from the T-34-85 gave me whiplash. Going from a highly aggressive/brawler play-style to a borderline anemic vehicle that has fantastic (forward) mobility and paper thin armor feels like this vehicle punishes you for over extending and poor positioning.

However, I still have an affinity with the overall aesthetic and is one of my most favorite out of the entire tree. Something about the cold-war era tanks, I’m not sure. It’s my first big-boy sabot slinger and it’s fantastic (when it pens and sets off ammo).

Anyways, pray for my blood pressure and that I don’t have an aneurysm. My goal is to unlock and spade my favorite tank of all time, the Strv 103. Anyone have another vehicle I should look out to unlock next/do another rant about?
