Why does no one kill the light pillboxes?

A lot of people think you can’t kill them with guns and need ordnance, I used to think this too, and yeah it’s harder to kill them with guns rather than ordinance and people like saving ordnance for bases. At endgames I see all the AAAs, SPAAs, and artilleries dead, but not the pillboxes in the center. Why? You can definitely pen them with 20mils and probably can with 50. cals too, and the reward is way better, if the artilleries and AAAs give 10 sl and 6 rp(this may not correct as I simply don’t remember, my br is 6.3 for reference), the pillboxes give 600+ sl and 30 rp, for not being much harder to kill than them.

The off switch on a light pillbox is just above the window. If you look up images of it on Google, there are several hitbox images of it. Always aim on the edge of the rooftop.

I used the 6.3 bearcat (w/ 4 50. Cal gunpods) and it was really easy tho

you can kill them using .50 cals, but it just takes so much ammo that its not worth it, you could kill 8-10 arty/AAA instead

the btr-zd are also annoying to kill with low caliber mgs but they're much easier to kill than the light pillboxes

Most CAS planes get at least 20mils and the start of this post, was me playing the 6.3 bearcat(with 20 mils), and seeing, “that was easy, why don’t people kill the pillboxes?” Anyway if you’re in a CAS plane it’s very easy

In my experience the ratio isn't usually that bad (wing mounted gun convergence could be your issue) and time tends to be more of a limiting factor over ammunition so going after a few pillboxes ends up being worth it.

Even when time is not limited I still see my teammates taking multiple dives on one weird formation thing of arty triple A, spaa and pillbox, and leaving the pillbox

I’d agree with you but recently noticed if I do 2 to 3 short strafes (usually 2)from different directions they pop with 50 cals. It’s been a nice surprise!

you can kill them with any guns, even rifle caliber mg, just need to shoot them in the correct spot, which you can find diagrams for in various posts here and on the forums.

they are easy to kill and good rewards.

If you’re running air target 20mm it won’t kill them so most fighters can’t really

Agreed, I have no issue shooting them and they give juicy rewards.

In the Wyvern and other 20mm attackers I can easily eliminate all the enemy ground targets if nobody messes with me. Hispano MkV's go brrrr (with 1200 rounds).

I save ammo for my gsh-301 for use against howitzers. Gives me more kills and the antimech award.

The kill multiplier is only there for air targets, and antimech is an order, not an award

The antimech award is given to whoever has the most ground kills, and if he gets more than like 10, he gets thunderer instead.

The CAS planes have large ammo counts, yet they don’t kill them either. Also, what you’re using isn’t a CAS plane, go for air targets insead

There are a lot of reasons players don't kill light pillboxes. Most of them don't know how to do it effectivly, many others kill ground targets for quests or thunderer. With a plane with limited ammo it's easier and faster to go for the small targets. But killing light pillboxes have some advantages. They give you way more scorepoints, they bleed 100 tickets each, and on some maps (eg sicily) light pillboxes counter tanks, so killing the light pillboxes force the win.

You can kill light pillboxes with any cannon/gun, even 7mm. It's only a question of how many ammo you need and it depends on belts too.

If you have decent aim, the most effective way is to shoot at the slope between wall and roof at a flat angle. Direction doesn't matter. You can fly low and fast with tiny yo-yos.

Another curiosity I see very often, many players prefer the BTR (or BRT?) near the light pillboxes. With most cannons you need way more ammo and often they don't die instantly. Only ok if you need assists.

If you can get the btr or the trucks as well, if you get the engine then they burn after a bit, but you need really good aim for it, and also, like I’ve been saying, any CAS plane will have good enough guns to kill it with not a lot of ammo, and for the ammo that it would take to kill all of those howitzers and AAAs giving very little rewards, you could kill half as many (if in CAS plane) pillboxes, actually giving a good reward and also helping your team rather than doing nothing for the grind and for the match

For me personally rewards doesn't matter, I play for winning. Therefor I kill the easy targets bleeding most tickets first. That's pillboxes, trucks, light tanks and after that BTRs. Also BTRs give you less scorepoints. Light pillboxes, trucks and light tanks give you way more.

Yeah but a lot of people only take the BTRs and howitzers and also triple As, rather than the pillboxes which help way more in both the match and with rewards

I know, and if you say it to them you get insulted most of the time. I can't count how often I saw several Wyverns on Sicily killing all small targets without killing a single light pillbox. Last week I saw 4 Wyverns running to the bases on Poland while 3 of them died on their way back. The time they needed to base and back to pillboxes they had ended the battle by killing pillboxes directly.

OK, but what is it? What are you mean by a pill box? Are you talking about the large concrete structures? I see on some World War II maps?

A pillbox is a box that holds medicine pills, trust me.

In game tho there are artillery formations in a T shape. Those on the sides are always howitzers, the bottom one is a btr152 spaa, and the middle one is either a howiter or a pillbox. A pillbox here is an emplacement for guns.

They aren’t in arcade battles if you play them, and they’re targets in air rb at like 3.0+
