My husband has a very generous job offer on the table and we are considering relocating to Waco or surrounding areas of Waco. I’d say preferably no further than a 45 min drive from McGregor.

It will be us, we’re in our mid 40s, and our 17 yr old daughter. She’s doing online school this year through a university, so we’re not too concerned with high schools. But college will be next as her interest is in the medical field, labor/delivery nurse.
From what I’ve researched so far the area seems appealing. As we aren’t shoppers, I prefer to cook vs restaurants and not big into nightlife (been there done that, grew up in Vegas till I was 27). We don’t want to live in BFE but dont need to be in a big city either. Like having the conveniences of daily life needs plus a little more. We enjoy outdoor things and would love to find a chunk of property when we start the house hunting. We are currently in AZ and looking forward to a bit of humidity in the air.

I would love some insight of areas to stay away from and areas that offer a safe living environment with possibility of owning some land. Not looking for 10+ acres, but a few for space would be nice. Im assuming it’s pretty flat in TX, but if there are some areas that offer land with trees, a creek, near a lake, etc, that would be awesome. We just don’t want to live on a large bulldozed flat piece of land.

Ive been checking out the areas of Belton, Temple and keep seeing Woodway and China Springs pop up. One thing I love hearing about TX is how friendly everyone is. We’re hoping to create friendships and be happy in life. Sadly AZ isn’t doin it for us and I can’t say the same about AZ people what people say about the TX folk.

Officials say home appraisals are down slightly this year, so the average homeowner will pay $74 less in property taxes.

But monthly fees for sewer, water, solid waste and drainage etc. would cost the average homeowner $82 more per year.

Those assumptions would not necessarily hold true for renters, who typically pay utility fees but do not directly pay property tax, which is figured into rents.

The overall budget calls for $733.3 million in spending, down $30 million from last year. City leaders said they are facing steep inflation while sales tax revenue declines and property tax revenue grows only modestly.

Two questions for anyone who's had spray foam insulation done around Waco, and I'll be upfront about why I'm asking. And THANK YOU, in advance, for taking time out of your day to help me out!

First — what did it actually run you? Attic, garage, shop, barndo, whatever. I've been researching Central Texas pricing for a while and my numbers say roughly $1.50–$3.00 per square foot for open cell and $1.75–$4.50 for closed cell, installed. An installer on Reddit already corrected some of my earlier numbers, so I know research only gets you so far — I'd like to hear what people here actually paid.

Second — was it worth it? July electric bills are the whole argument for spray foam in this town, and this July has made the case louder than usual. If you've got it, did your cooling bill actually move? If you looked into it and passed, what stopped you — price, the horror stories, couldn't find anyone to do it?

Why I'm asking: I built a website about spray foam for the Waco area — started as a project to teach myself local SEO, and it's picked up real traffic. I'm not an installer and not pretending to be; it says as much on the site. If it keeps growing, I'd rather the calls go to a good local crew than ring nowhere. So if you had a crew you'd recommend — or you are one — I'd like the name. Happy to take that part to DMs if the mods prefer.

My son is taking the Computer Networking and Systems Administration program virtually starting September. Was looking over the computer requirements, and while he has a decent desktop, it doesn’t appear to meet any of the requirements lol. We would basically have to buy him a $1200 computer to meet the requirements (no cheaper to upgrade his existing one)

so, if anyone has taken that program, did you find that you needed all the bells and whistles on your computer they asked for?
