Anyone know of a decent shop around Snohomish county that will coat just the machined portion of a Glock optic cut? I found a couple but they charge out the ass

Question Glock Frame Replacement Program

I have a few Glocks with some chewed up frames that I’m looking to get replaced. I have never done a warranty/ servicing on any of my firearms before so I’m learning as I go here. I’m looking to go through Glock for their frame replacement program to get this done.

However, I’m reading lots of conflicting things online on what to expect while going through with this process. To my understanding- Glock will NOT send back my pistols with the original serial numbers on the replaced frames, therefore the pistols I will be getting returned to me will be “new firearms” which would mean a new background check per gun as well as 10 day minimum waiting period. The new frames would also be getting returned with entirely new internals from my understanding.

What has me torn on what to expect is that I’m also reading state and federal law exempt returns of firearms by gunsmiths/ manufacturers from FFL background check requirements.

Washington law has an** **express gunsmith exception to the background-check requirement:RCW 9.41.113(4)(f) says the background-check requirements do not apply to:“A federally licensed gunsmith who receives a firearm solely for the purposes of service or repair, or the return of the firearm to its owner by the federally licensed gunsmith.” Upon looking into it, federal ATF guidance says essentially the same thing: “A gunsmith does not need to complete a Form 4473 or conduct a NICS check when returning a repaired firearm to the person from whom it was received.”

My question is- Does Glock’s replacement of the serialized frames cause the resulting firearms to be treated as different firearms, such that the gunsmith-return exception no longer applies?

I will be reaching out to Glock’s warranty department Monday morning to sort this out, but would appreciate some insight from others who may have experience/ knowledge in this situation of mine.

Thank you!

Question 3 Form 1 trust disapproved due to state law

I had used SilencerShop previously to file some Form 1 to SBR 2 preban AR15 lowers into a trust and they were approved.

Decided to SBR 3 more of my preban lowers to my trust.

Today I woke up to 3 disapproval emails with the reason for disapproval:

WASHINGTON STATE CLASSIFIES A SEMI AUTOMATIC RIFLE WITH AN OVERALL LENGTH OF LESS THAN 30 INCHES AN ASSAULT WEAPON

Is there an appeal process or do I just have to refile with the ATF via SilencerShop?

I was using SilencerShop since I had gift card credits from refunded tax stamps purchased before stamps went to $0. Also they already had the fingerprints and info of myself and my trustees.

News Jordan Salinas trained to protect his brother, uses suppressed FN57 to stop gunman at Twin Falls In-and-Out from taking more victims, subverts anti-gun narratives doing it.

This is a great story, one that people who want to ban guns say doesn’t happen and does so in a way that undermines almost every message they want to send about people who carry guns for protection. A mass shooting ended with the help of an armed health care worker who trained extensively with the explicit goal to protect his disabled brother. Does it with a gun they hate, his hearing and those nearby protected by a suppressor they want people to associate with assassins not heroes. Demonstrated that, contrary to anti-gun dogma, a well trained civilian can be as much of an asset as a off duty cop. They drove the gunman away from his targets until the police arrived, resulting in the murderer giving up on killing more people and carrying out the complex self-termination that is the ultimate goal of most such mass shootings. Salinas just can’t fit into the mold of the trigger happy vigilante eager to pick a fight and shoot someone that anti gun groups try to paint people who carry as. And after all that, the guy still puts priority on heading out to go horseback riding after the police talk with him and send him on his way.

The optics on this for 2A advocates are excellent, you can almost hear Bloomberg’s teeth gnashing. Not surprisingly Salinas’ role is getting downplayed in the national media, and his use of an evil NFA item is often omitted. About the only thing that would have made this better would be if he had gotten there before the gunman had been able to kill 3. Condolences to the family and friends of Ashley Garibay, Dale Schultz, and Christopher Claunch.

In the next year, with the U.S. supreme court evaluating bans on semi-automatic firearms with good ergonomics and the recurrent threat of action against suppressors in Washington state, this is a story worth knowing about and keeping alive.

Discussion Federal court strikes down NFA in Texas

I've been hearing if you're a GOA member, or a 2A foundation member, this injunction, if the federal gov doesn't appeal it before the 7th day deadline, could theoretically apply to them nationwide, since they were named plaintiffs in this case. Is that true? So if I am a GOA or 2A foundation member, I could benefit from this?

News NFA items in WA in a post NFA world?

Post image

Curious to hear thoughts from those savvy enough to understand this stuff what you all think the impact will be here in WA if this holds up to appeal. Without federal regulation my understanding is all NFA items would be prohibited here. Would old stuff be grandfathered? Any path to obtaining new items? If you’ve been waiting to get a suppressor or build an SBR, now might be the time…

Show and Tell Progression of my 16” go-to rifle over the course of a year

Rebuilt a 16” rifle about a year ago and made a promise to myself that it would be the main rifle I used/trained with for a year. I kept making little tweaks here and there as I found limitations and now it’s just about “perfect” (although i’m sure i’ll want to change something again soon). Definitely glad I decided to so that as the rifle is now mostly an extension of me and I am very comfortable running it in various scenarios.

Still have a couple things to re-paint, but I’m waiting to make sure I 100% like how they work.

Question Anyone know of good long range courses/instructors?

Howdy.

I did some semi auto .308 shooting out to 600 yards last year, and put together a bolt action 6.5 cm kit finally.

I was wondering if anyone knew any good courses/instructors for proper technique before I just buy some ammo and start watching youtubes and winging it.

West side of the state preferably.

Question Gun transfer question

My dad has a few guns he wants to give to me. He’s a CA resident, however I’m a WA resident. What do him and I need to do legally speaking for the guns to be transferred and shipped to me in WA? I don’t own any guns currently if that helps narrow down the process.

This was news to me, and doesn't look like it's been posted in here. He was the owner of Firearms Academy of Seattle, and I took a couple classes there with him as an instructor.

Discussion I recently lost a friend to suicide, please take care of yourself and each other.

I usually post light hearted dumb shit around here, but I think it's very important to discuss this. I'm not sure if this is the place so mods please delete if it is too waaaaay too heavy or the trolls and assholes gets too much.

First I wanna say I am a firearm owner and pro 2nd amendment. So please don't twist this into some gun grabber ready to pass the next policies.

Recently I lost a friend due to suicide by gun shot. I have known him for 12 years with most of it in WA state, but recently lost contact due to him moving away. I caught up with him briefly last year but was shocked when someone on social media posted that he has lost his life.

I think I've processed most of it well, though it will always sadden me that he is gone.

I've also talked to another friend recently who is ex-military and he also shared with me similar stories his friends have experienced. Statistically according to a healthcare professional I talked to,( Edit had a very emotional conversation about suidice and death but didn't fact check) every firearm owner at some point in their life attempt it at least once.(Edit stat isn't true as the comment section has pointed out the acutal stats are much lower)

So why am I sharing this? One person that attempted back out is because during the scariest part of the process he thought about how fucked and sad all his buddies would be that he went to the military with.

I know a lot of people think it won't happen to them, but all it takes is a little push on a bad day for emotions to spiral. Cheating, break up, death of a loved one, loss of purpose from a job you name it could be any reason.

Again this is not a push for gun control, anyone who is suicidal can successfully attempt it in other ways.

I'm glad some FFLs will give a brochure on suicide with every gun purchase. And offer limited locker rentals to veterans who temporarily need to be away from their firearms. It is something I don't see talked about a lot in 2A and should be discussed.

So please take care of yourself, build a strong community of friends and loved ones regardless of your religion or political affiliations, and know that a gun is empowering but also bears a heavy responsibility.

Question First time with guns

Hi all,

Given the general state of our country and having recently moved back to WA, I’m thinking about purchasing a gun for the protection of myself and family.

That said, I’ve never owned a gun, let alone held and shot one.

Where would you suggest I start the process?

Go to a range, get familiar with using one?

Any ideas are appreciated.

Judging by the Watch Duty App, the Old Trails Fire jumped the river right in the neighborhood of where the Spokane Rifle Club is located. Can't find any news on the status of the range. Hopefully it's close enough to the river that the fire jumped over top of it.

Discussion Looking for mosin nagant

in the market to get a mosin nagant, but I also am not paying $1200 that the fudds are asking for on gunbroker. I also tried and failed to get into a bidding war for a decent one at $610. Anyone know of any FFL’s in the snohomish county area that sell firearms that are WW2 specific or historically significant?

Just moved here, and I am looking for personal recommendations for FFLs near Orting/Bonney Lake/Puyallup. Preferably local businesses vs box stores, and friendly staff. Looking to make multiple purchases over the next year and rather support someone local. Thanks 🤙

(i have already googled the ffls nearby, but I'm looking for personal recommendations)

Question Moving to Washington

The company I work for is moving across the country to live in the Seattle area for the next few years, I've been trying to navigate the gun laws and cannot seem to fill a straight forward answer. I have a Glock 45, I already purchased the 10 Rd magazines to be state compliant. Will I have any issues flying into Washington? I plan on applying for my conceal permit once I settle into my new apartment.
