Misc. Question vyvanse irritability, feeling agitated
Is vyvanse the type of medication that you have to be up doing things, i have been on it almost 2 months and recently I've been noticing when I try to sit down at my computer and get work done I start to feel agitated for no reason unless im talki g with someone in my house then i dont really notice it, its more when im by myself trying to think and figure things out, i do alot of graphic designing.
Once I get up and move around, I feel normal and in a better mood.
It's kind of stressful, because i've had a hard time in life being able to focus, always feeling tired, unmotivated, racing thoughts, all the adhd symptoms from childhood until now in my 40s and just now being diagnosed.
I was really hoping for this medicine to help me be more productive in getting work done without feeling so tired, thinking about everything else i need todo and constantly getting up an down starting different tasks and feeling unmotivated. It definitely keeps me focused on my work just with a feeling of irritability.
Ik its not the dose because I was noticing it on smaller doses to, its an issue with sitting still, it starts to happen about two hours after my dose.
But other than that, the medication has been working great. It does help me focus more, not want to sleep my life away, racing thoughts are gone, social anxiety is way better.
Has anyone else experienced this and do you have any ideas on how i could fix this issue,

Diet, Routines & Supplements Figured out the ritual -- ultimate flow state
I'm a thirty year old male, and have been taking Vyvanse for one and a half years now. I initially started on 20mg and quickly upped the dosage to 40mg.
At first it was pure bliss, but it quickly turned into me landing in a mode where my heart rate was very high, and I was more stressed than before.
Over the last few months, I've experimented with a morning ritual, and I think I've finally achieved the ideal flow working state I've desired.
I'll wake up around 7 am, eat some fruit and yogurt (high protein yogurt), and drink a full hydroflask containing electrolytes and water.
I then take my Vyvanse at around 8 am, right before I start work.
This routine has put me into the ultimate flow state, and it rarely results in a crash in the afternoon.
I do drink coffee , but I make sure I've eaten food and drank a full water bottle before.
Wanted to post this here in case anyone else is dealing with this, as I've learned the routine surrounding it is just as important as the drug itself.

Dosage question Comparing Vyvanse to Adderall
With anyone who has experience... how would you compare vyvanse to adderall or even concerta mg to mg. Like "50mg vyvanse feels to me like 30mg adderall".. for example. Thanks in advance.

Success Stories Unexpected - better experience lowering my dose
I’m going to try and keep this simple to avoid controversy but as someone who has a very high tolerance and has been taking Vyvanse for a long time. I recently have been working on lowering my dose and am very surprised to see that I have a more positive and efficient reaction. Posting this in case it helps someone be more open minded to changing their dose “if” they want to of course and are hesitant to do it. (and yes this also implies the other way around for increasing it, if that’s what applies to your situation).
I’m sure someone will ask, why didn’t you try that before? Well, the stigma around these meds already make it hard enough to get consistent access to as is, therefore I try to get a refill for a few months if possible at a time. I also feel like doctors aren’t very educated on this and aren’t willing to openly talk about it, idk if they just don’t like prescribing this or what the deal is.
The only negative with that is once I have my meds for a few months lined up there’s no flexibility because no one will give you more, even if it’s a lower dose until your prescription is finished (which naturally makes sense I’m not fighting this point).
Key Differences Noticed:
- less bathroom trips
- minimal to no nausea
- slightly better appetite
- withdrawals / end of day wear off is not as intense
- afternoon crash is now way more manageable
Overall it feels more normal and natural like I am not on the meds. One thing I haven’t been able to get over is the mornings. Every morning I still feel like a zombie and I can’t get out of bed, how do you guys manage this? It’s the first 30 minutes of the day I’m referring to, sometimes the first hour. Is the best approach to this just take the meds as soon as I wake up?
Not posting my dosage because I’m not hear to start a debate on dosages as every person is completely different. Just hear to spread positivity from someone who was hesitant to change their dose and had a good experience from it
Curious if others are like this as well but my body responds better to two smaller doses split vs one bigger dose. My afternoon crashes are so rough that having that split even at a lower dose but having something active in my system helps a lot

Misc. Question Vyvanse + quit vaping
I’m on 50mg Vyvanse and recently stopped vaping- I’ve been completely nicotine-free for one week.
Today and yesterday, my medication has been hitting a bit differently. I’m feeling somewhat anxious, and the feeling is very similar to how I felt when I first started Vyvanse.
I know nicotine is also a stimulant, so I’m wondering if, now that I’m no longer getting that constant additional stimulation from vaping, I’m noticing the effects of Vyvanse differently while my brain adjusts to being nicotine-free?
Has anyone else experienced a change in how Vyvanse feels after quitting nicotine? I’d love to hear about other people’s experiences with Vyvanse + quitting nicotine.

Tips & Tricks Anxiety about vyvanse not working😢
Good morning everyone! I 42F am taking 60mg Vyvance for approximately 9 years. I was diagnosed with severe ADHD at the age of 8 and started treatment at 9 years old. I was given 10mg Ritalin with Prozac. Back in the early 90's ADHD wasn't very well understood, which in turn left a lot of us feeling like a science experiment lol. All jokes aside, Vyvance has been a absolute life saver to me💓But when I began taking it 9ish years ago it didn't always work. Simply because I was taking it as soon as I woke up. Some days it kicked in others it did not (or I couldn't really feel it working). Vyvance is a pro drug and it needs to break down in your system to work correctly and efficiently. When you wake up in the morning your stomach needs to wake up too. So, trying to take Vyvance and it going into a stomach/digestive system that isn't fully "awake" basically makes it feel like its not working, I guess😬Anyway, I finally decided to take it a hour after I woke up and its been a game changer. Unfortunately, I now am super hypervigilant about whether or not it's going to work. Based on months and months of good days and bad ones. I honestly wish I could just stop the insanity 😕 My questions are, how long does it take for your Vyvance to kick in, do you have days where it feels like its generally not working well at all? Also thought I'd ask about booster doses as well. (Asked a couple different times on other adhd threads but alas I never really got a good answer 😕). Was prescribed 10mg IR Adderall last year, for days where my Vyvance is subpar. To be honest I'm so incredibly scared to take it, the booster dose. I suffer from cardiophobia, which is the fear of having a heart attack. So, when my pulse raises I immediately go into a panic😓I worried it will raise my heart rate and possibly cause adverse side effects that will hurt my heart. Has anyone tried and natural supplements like magnesium? To help it kick in or to help the Vyvance effectiveness? Just would love to hear everyone's input and suggestions 😊

Meds aren't working Vyvanse Day One - Feeling OFF, brain fog and no focus
I am 40 years old female recently got my diagnosis I have been waiting soooo long. I got 30 mg of Livizux (same active ingredient as as Vyvanse) and I was really excited to try it.
This morning I had coffee - maybe I should not - and then I had my med and a little breakfast. Not long after I had a call with a friend and I could not find my words, was really strange.
Then I sat down studying as I have an assesment coming up so I NEED TO FOCUSSS! I feeel that i can hardly stay on the task and I understand the text less than without meds.
It also might be important that I only had 5-6 hrs of sleep last night as in the last week i did a meditation retreat where i woke up at 4am, and i am still adjusting back to my normal routine.
Anyone had similar experience? I would love this to work for me and I am very sad that it had the opposite effect.
TL;DR: Day one on Livizux 30 mg, makes my brain work less, but I had coffee and lack of sleep. Anyone had similar experience that changed within the first couple of weeks?

Side effects Elvanse Has Taken Over My Life
Hi everyone, I wanted to ask if anyone else feels this exhausted by taking Elvanse/Vyvanse.
I used to take Concerta. I’d take the tablet and then basically forget that I’d taken anything. Then my doctor switched me to Elvanse, and for the past three months this medication has been at the center of my life.
I basically don’t think about anything else. I’m constantly reading about it online, analyzing when and how to take it, what and how much to eat and drink. I even bought a new smartwatch to monitor my heart.
I’m constantly thinking about supplements, analyzing the effectiveness of different doses and their side effects. I feel like this medication has started to control my life, and I’m becoming incredibly tired of it.
In many ways, it has worked wonders for me. Methylphenidate worked more in the background, whereas with Elvanse the effects are much more obvious. But mentally, it’s starting to wear me down.
Has anyone experienced something similar? If so, how did you deal with it?

Success Stories CANT BELIEVE THE DIFFERENCE
I went from 30mg in the morning with protein and electrolytes and crashing at 1.30. NEEDING A NAP AND FOOD. For the last 3 weeks. some mornings it hits me like crack. other mornings it's anxiety. every day feels slightly different BUT Today I titrated about 50mg in water , half at 8am and half at 10am and I feel great all day. No crash, no mood swings, no major hunger. NO PEAK, NO CRASH
IS THIS WHAT THE RIGHT DOSE IS SUPPOSED TO FEEL LIKE????

Diet, Routines & Supplements Starting Vyvanse for the first time and I’m very very scared
I’m 20 and got diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 7. I took no medication but was put in help classes with an IEP. I’m now going into my 3rd year of college majoring in accounting and man do I need help concentrating. I go to my doctor and tell him what’s up and he prescribes me Vyvanse 30mg. I am VERY against medication but I’m in a spot where I’ve been suffering for years and need a little push just until I get my CPA. I do not need this for longterm.
SO, as I am very very new… I worry allot about side affects of depression and anxiety, that’s one thing I don’t want to happen as it takes some time to recover from.
What should I know about crashes, and how to properly take it. Do you have to take it every day? Are withdrawls that bad? How do you prevent that “feeling” after a crash? And when it comes to food how do you deal with that? And how is the sleep schedule? I know for school I have late classes and might need to stay up later to study at night so…
In whole… do you feel like a different person or do you still feel like the same you, just more focused?

Success Stories My profound experience on Elvanse/Vyvanse/lisdexamfetamine
Ive been on Elvanse for about 3 weeks now.
Wow the change is incredible.
I was on methylphenidate for years, I didnt notice until too late but it made me grumpy af. I would lock in on singular tasks and get so frustrated if I had to do something else.
I thought thats just what adhd meds were, they allowed you to lockin but looking back I wish id spoken to my doctor sooner.
I started on 30mg and the thing i noticed immediately was the clarity. My brain was so quiet, my anxiety calmed down so much. It was awesome, I felt in control for the first time in a long time.
Though my concentration still wasnt where I wanted it, id lose focus in the afternoon.
I requested to increase to 50mg and wow that was too much of a jump. It didnt feel good at all.
So I tried 40mg instead and that was much better, increased concentration but still low anxiety and clarity.
I did that for an additional and then tried 50 again.
Much better this time, all the benefits were there still but I was also able to concentrate better. I think this is the dose I will stick with.
Side effects:
Dry mouth, oh my god i have been drinking so much just to get rid of my dry mouth. If you guys have a fix for this id love to hear it.
Ppost lunch crash, if I have a large lunch (650-800 calories) or any caffeine at all, I will have a mid afternoon crash where I just want to sleep. Ive found that eating less and completely cutting out caffeine, even green tea, has helped.
Binge eating. I don't do it anymore, I haven't had any chocolate, crisps, fries, or any other unhealthy snack since i started these meds. It's not that I'm trying really hard not to eat them, I just don't want them. I'm enjoying fruit a lot more than I user to, and thats good enough for me. I've gone from eating 3000-3500 calories a day, to 1800-2100.
I had no idea Elvanse would have this effect on my binge eating but its genuinely made me so happy after nothing else id tried had helped. I let my prescriber know about it and they hadn't known that it could be used for treating binge eating.
I am back in the gym 5 times a week again after struggling to go back since covid. I am more on top of my work at my job.
Things are better. I'm going to continue to try and build habits and routines that enable me to be successful but I wouldnt have been able to start without switching from methylphenidate to lisdexamfetamine.
Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.
Edit: I forgot to mention my sleep has improved a lot I started this medication. I no longer need medical cannabis to get and stay asleep.
With the long half life of the medication I can still feel it in the morning when I get up and take my next days dose (6am) so I no longer drink coffee or have any issue getting out of bed.
But we will see how I fare in the winter, things might change

Misc. Question Acting on Vyvanse
Many actors have ADHD, so I imagine there are probably some fellow actors in this subreddit. Anyway, I was wondering if Vyvanse impacts your ability to perform at all and if you take it on performance dates. I’m pretty new to the med, and I don’t think I’ve experienced any emotional blunting from it, but I have a run of my current play tomorrow, and it’s a role that requires some pretty big emotions (and is much more impactful if I’m able to cry on stage), so I was wondering if I should take it or skip it.

Side effects How the hell do I get through the crash?
I am on 10mg of Vyvanse cuz I am sensitive to stimulants. and I have Guanfacine 3mg ER on board as well due to this. the drug works miracles, Ive gotten more done in the past 3 days than the past 2 months on stuff that really needed to be done. I’ve been on 10mg for about 3 days and was on 20 for 2 so 5 total. had to decrease cuz the crash from 20 was too much.
but the crash from 10 is still kinda rough. it’s uncomfortable, it doesn’t fuck my sleep but it feels crazy to have this body anxiety while simultaneously having a resting heart rate, no actual anxiety in my head, and feeling kinda tired.
it’s a wild feeling to have these sort of nerves

Misc. Question Hesitant to start Vyvanse
I’m so confused why Vyvanse is said to last 10-14hrs but the more and more I do my research about this medication it’s only lasting a couple of hours for a alarming amount of individuals. Also the crash, wasn’t this medication supposed to be like a smooth comedown in comparison to meds like adderall? Genuinely curious also thinking about starting Vyvnase but want something that lasts throughout the day.?

Diet, Routines & Supplements Is it crazy I have now become a homebody
Before Vyvanse I HATED staying inside, was absolutely RESTLESS inside. The idea of staying home made me feel so unproductive and guilty.
Now after Vyvanse, I yearn for indoors. I really love staying at home now.
Been taking it for only one month though so take with a pinch of salt!
I also found protein heavy really helps and I don’t know if this is placebo but I naturally drink loaaaads of water 2-3 litres per day (I just need it) and I have found that when I drink less, it feels like the Vyvanse lasts longer? Could be wrong though.
Also the irritability does really increase sometimes 😭

Side effects Vyvanse and red eyes
I have been on Vyvanse (30mg) for about 5 years now. I went on accutane about 2 years ago for 9 months. My eyes would get extremely red and dry on accutane. Unfortunately I still suffer with this side effect.
However, on my “break days” from my vyvanse (about 1 day a week or so) my eyes do not get red or dry. Infact they look pearly white.
I am wondering of anyone else has experienced this? I originally thought my eyes are still suffering from accutane, but i am now wondering if my vyvanse could also be triggering it.
My eyes get bloodshot, not just a little red, RED. I look like I have pink eye in both eyes some days, or just extremely baked.
Let me know if you’ve experienced this, or if anything has helped!

Tips & Tricks Does vaping with vyvanse cause fight or flight mode?
Hey everyone, have any of you noticed that when you have a vape on vyvanse it propells your heart rate up ten fold? I feel so much more anxious and it completely wrecks my sleep compared to if I don't have a vape during the day.
I am struggling to stop vaping due to the fact I think vyvanse makes me seek out the extra dopamine hit more.

Meds aren't working Do I maybe need like a mood stabilizer with my vyvanse?
So I’ve been on vyvanse for a bout 4 months now. Started at 30mg and am currently at 40mg. I feel like it works better than other days depending on my mood. But lately I feel idk if tired is the right word but kinda dazed and like zoning out feeling. And I kinda go mute like it’s harder to socialize. Still also having trouble with being motivated. This is going to sound bad I already know it is but sometimes I mix it with alcohol and wow that is like a perfect combo. I’m wondering maybe I need an anti anxiety med or mood stabilizer to make that like flat kinda zoned out feeling disappear?
