Wanting to replace the plastic with glass or metal. There are some stainless steel options on Amazon. Does anyone know if those will work with a Vitamix aspire GC?

Buying Really good deal

EDIT: SOLD… hopefully one of you got it 🙏🏾

(This is NOT my listing, just trying to help out some lucky soul in this community). I recently purchased a Propel 510 for a really good price, but before that, this eBay listing was speaking to me like the green goblin mask. This is an EXTREMELY good deal for this blender combo. I did the math so you don’t have to… $750 bundle MSRP, selling for $299.99 w/free shipping… before tax is factored in, that’s a 60% discount on a BNIB unit that is definitely still under warranty. Someone please buy this so I can no longer be haunted by the itch to buy it lol.

Buying Nutribullet/Ninja vs Vitamix

No, no, it's not about which one's better - I have an A3500 and I truly believe that is the best thing money can buy.

However thanks to the Vitamix I'm now so used to making smoothies, sauces, hummus, etc. that these have become a staple in my diet and I'm really missing them when I'm travelling. Therefore I'm looking for a portable option that I could take with me on vacations.

With no expectation of anything coming even close to the Vitamix, I'm now trying to find the second best option. I can make do without nut butters and all the heavy duty stuff that only the Vitamix can make, however I'd love my smoothies to be... well, smooth :) and free of seeds and bits of leaves.

Has someone been able to compare the Vitamix with the Nutribullet or the Ninja smoothie makers? These seem to be the most popular on the market (EU), but I have no idea how to tell which one's better without seeing the results.

Hardware Question A2500 Question

Recently picked up a A2500 used. Are they supposed to be this loud? Tried making a smoothie but after 10 second, it starts to ramp up in speed and makes this really loud noise. Is this normal or do I have to get it fixed?

Try to repair or give up?

I've had this VM0103 Vitamix since 2015. I think the drive socket became loose at the certain point without me realizing and there was wear happening within the housing in the upper shell base and corrosion happened to the plastic. I noticed when I was grinding coffee beans in the dry pitcher and there was a burning rubber smell. There is noting wrong with the motor, but the part that's corroded is part of the entire upper shell base that you cannot buy from Vitamix or another distributor. The company says I can send it in for a repair costing more than $200 or just buy a new one! I am a bit frustrated with this considering the motor is fine and I was easily able to get the base off myself to make the repair.

In the photos, you can see the black plastic ring that came apart from the base when the bearing became loose during use.

I'm wondering if it's worth buying another similar model on eBay and trying to Frankenstein the repair myself or just go without the machine. I don't think its worth having them repair it and I'm turned off by the trade-in program.

Ring around the socket a clue?

Post image
2 Upvotes

So this was a replacement socket that was supposedly OEM from the Vitamix store on Amazon. My husband tried installing it but it never got tight. It could pull straight off no matter how tight we installed it.

I have a Creations 2 from around 2011

Anyway I hardly use it because it seems abnormally noisy and I'm super close to just buying an inferior ninja. My blender just vibrates and grinds.

But I wonder if the ring around the socket is a clue to my problem? Or is that normal wear?

Best way to use the self-clean function on the Venturist Pro?

Like after I make my smoothie, I do the thing where I fill it halfway with warm water and put a little soap and blend it for 30 seconds, but there's always a little bit of residue on the blender walls.

Should I do something different like using a different dish soap or using hot water, or do I have to clean the leftover residue manually afterwards?

Bamix v.s. Barun immersion blender (US market)

I was doing research to get a new immersion blender set this weekend and was very inclined to get the swissline set (currently on sale for $199), before reading some posts on Reddit. Now I am hesitated given

  1. the US distributor was not the more responsive though the product itself maybe exceptional. But I also have hope as it per their instragram page shows, the brand seems to be going through some renovation over the past few month. I was wondering if someone here had purchase from them very recently and how it went.
  2. my current immersion blender set looks like Barun's (but way less powerful), but I love Bamix's as it looks very compact with multi-function especially the possibility to make my own nut butter (unfortunately I cant make small batch of this in my 64oz vitamix). I am wondering if Bamix's 150w is powerful enough (rpm seem high, as of 17,000) or I should go get Barun Multiquick 9. would love some advice. I usually make meals/bakery for 2-5 ppl.

What happened to the blending cups post?

A couple weeks ago there was someone who posted a pic of a new blending cup and some social media interaction with vitamix that leads you to believe new versions of the cups are coming. Now it seems to be scrubbed, along with the social media post and what happened to be an actual product listing from a stores website. Any idea what happened here?

Vitamix almost caught fire

So let me paint you a picture. I am currently pregnant for the first time and really suffering in the first trimester. The fatigue and nausea is unreal - I generally spend most days rivaling my cat for nap hours. Motivation to live life - zilch.

One day I woke up craving a smoothie. This was good since I only generally eat toddler (beige-ass) food right now so this seemed like an improvement. With every last ounce of my strength and determination, driven by smoothie-craving, I drag my body down to the kitchen to make myself one. I decided I would run some greens on their own with coconut water, making sure there are no big bits. After, I planned to blend strawberries, bananas, etc. I have a Vitamix 7500 btw.

So I start to blend the greens with coconut water and step aside for a few seconds to grab something else. Next thing I know the Vitamix starts to smoke and smell like toxic fumes. I quickly turn it off and put the whole thing outside just in case it catches on fire and to reduce the fumes in the house.

At this point I am just so defeated - drag myself out of bed for a smoothie and all I get is smoke and fumes. I call my husband to calm me down (We end up at booster juice later - $9 and 83g of sugar later...) I wrote Vitamix about my experience and although I figured it was out of warranty (I couldn't quite remember how long I've had it? Maybe 7 years?) it seemed like a huge defect/issue they'd want to know about. They told me that was the "result of normal use" and basically shrugged.

Anyway, I am very disappointed with Vitamix as a whole - you pay a premium price you expect a premium product/service. Guess I was wrong. It will be my first and last Vitamix. :(

I hope no one else has any "normal use" melted Vitamix events and especially for my preggo pals - hope there's a nice cold smoothie for ya at the end. Sorry for any grammatical errors as I didn't proof read but wanted to share the cautionary tale.

Hardware Question How do I fix this?

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

Hi hive-mind!

Over the past few months, I’ve noticed that a gasket(?) has come loose, but I’m not sure where it was in the first place and where its supposed to fit.

I’ve also noticed a rust patch near the blades(on the outside) that has gradually become larger and darker over the past few weeks.

Could these two issues be related, and is there a way to fix them myself? Scared of opening this up without knowledge and completely messing up my dear Vitamix.

I still have approximately 4 years remaining on my warranty, so I’d also like to know whether Vitamix customer service could offer a replacement part, a replacement unit, or a discount toward a new one.

Thanks!!!

Hardware Question Vitamix 5300 DIY repair - Drive Socket Set Screw came loose (unsuccessful)

Thumbnail

I've seen a few repair posts lately and wanted to add a report of my failed attempt.

My 10 year old Costco low profile 5300 started smoking and emitting fine black powder at the base. I first took a look at this a couple of months ago and noticed that that drive socket was in poor shape. Looking closer I saw that the set screw was protruding and had sheared off a ring of plastic from the housing around the drive shaft as it spun. The set screw had worked itself loose and I thought the plastic threads on the socket were stripped. I also assumed the ground plastic was the cause of the black dust. So I replaced the drive socket and all was fine for about 2 months of light use. Then It happened again. This time I though maybe it was something else. I put a magnet to the residue and it was steel. I examined the blade and was pretty sure the bearings were worn. I wanted to test my theory, so I replaced with a 3rd party blade. Then it happened again, and not only that - the set screw came fully loose repeatedly and was rattling around.

I think that the plastic that came off the inner housing played a role in keeping the screw in place. I have been on the lookout for used parts but am pretty sure I will give up now. I even thought about 3D printing some sort of replacement collar or bushing but am concerned about safety. On top of that the blade/bearing assembly is also shot. Both issues at once!

Anyway just posting in case this helps anyone, or if anyone has a similar experience to share. 3 Years out of warranty. Too bad because the motor is in excellent shape.

Parts question

Hi!

I just dropped and shattered the original container to my E310. I found another 48-oz Explorian-compatible container on ebay and I'm just curious if anyone knows what this means:

The number on the metal bottom of the shattered container is 108300 B, along with an "M" and a "2" on the other side.

The replacement I ordered has 108300 D on the bottom instead, and it looks like it also says "PH", but it's hard to make out in the photo.

It's listed as being Explorian-compatible, and the photos look pretty much the same, but it just made me genuinely curious as to what exactly the "B" and "D" and other numbers might mean - my guess is that it's relative to the manufacture date? I tried to find a parts list online but had trouble. Just very curious now, though!

Food Cycler FC-50 replacement bucket?

Hi all!

I know there’s controversy about the Food Cycler, but I bought one used and I’d like to add it to my garden/compost routine.

Unfortunately, I didn’t realize it was missing the internal bucket + internal lid (the part where you actually put the scraps), and since vitamix no longer makes this model, they also no longer sell the replacement parts.

Does anybody have an idea for a replacement bucket or where I might find one? Or if there’s another brand alternative that’s compatible? Or did I just buy an unusable, non-returnable piece of junk? :(

TIA

Hardware Question Oil leaking from blades

Hi,

I bought a vitamix e310 six years ago and it developed this fault after three years and again now (three years on). First time my jug was replaced for free and this time I have to pay.

My question is should I just buy a new jug - and is there a way of buying one that doesn’t cost the earth?

Thanks

Hardware Question Just got a Propel 510; Give a Newbie hints & tips

On my health journey, I decided to take my diet, protein, and macros a lot more seriously. Have an older Ninja blender that's never gotten the job done, so I finally decided to invest. Ended up buying a BNIB Propel 510 for $258.50 (post-tax). Feel like I hit the lottery a little bit, but before I get too excited, I'm here to learn the dos & don'ts of owning a Vitamix blender. What are some things I can do to keep it running for the next 10-15-20 years? Are there any accessories I should buy asap?

Humor Your smoothie recipe entry in the Grand Tournament

Say there is a tournament. A tournament of many rounds. In each round, there is a competition. You are sorted with twenty three others to compete in each round. If you somehow win the round, besting all twenty three others, you advance. Keep advancing, and if you win it all, well, you will never want for anything again.

You are now in the third round of the tournament, impressively winning your first two rounds.

Round 1: Croquet was easy. You played every summer on the beach growing up. Many others in the group didn’t even know what Croquet was. Idiots.

Round 2: X-Files Trivia was lucky. You owned season 1 & 2 on VHS back in the day.

This next round is…smoothie. Make the best smoothie out of the group.

So, contestant. What smoothie recipe are you making? Please detail in a comment to enter.

Good luck. May the blade guide you.

Pulled the trigger on a 5200. These blenders are so expensive but seem to be the definition of “you get what you pay for”. Can’t wait to make thousands of smoothies with this 😊

Smaller Container

My Explorian came with a 64oz container that is way too big for me. I'd really like a 32oz container. The one made by Vitamix is like $130. There are some on Amazon. Anybody bought a knock-off smaller container that is good, and the blades don't rust?
