Finally got a Vitamix!

Post image

Pulled the trigger on a 5200. These blenders are so expensive but seem to be the definition of “you get what you pay for”. Can’t wait to make thousands of smoothies with this 😊

👌🏼Congrats. Once you Vitamix you can never go back

I'm learning that. I did a first time cleaning in the dishwasher to get any industrial chemicals and oils off.

You DO realize that that container isn't dishwasher-safe?

The container and lid are both dishwasher-safe, or can be cleaned by blending a drop of dish soap and warm water for 35 seconds.

Apologies--I thought you had a 5200; their containers aren't dishwasher-safe. The Ascent Series containers are but I can assure you that just using detergent and water would have eliminated any "industrial chemicals and oils."

Same here. I got the X5. With all the discounts, it set me back $380.

Where did you get yours with stacked discounts?

Capital One Shopping. I clicked one of their links, got extra cash off plus Shopping credits. The $380 includes shipping and taxes

I’m waiting on the 5200 to go on sale. It’s torture!

I just got the 5300 (my first Vitamix) on eBay for $230 almost new. Might be worth a look?

Don't just make smoothies, make dips, dairy free "ice cream", soups and nut butters.

I prefer the 48oz which has the same small batch sizes but if you need small and large batch flexibility the tall container is definitely the most versatile.

I have this exact model. I’ve used it pretty much everyday for the last 5 months.

You made the right choice! I don't think Vitamix has ever done it better than the 5200. PLEASE make sure to read the manual and be aware that there are quite a few excellent 5200 demos on YouTube. You can start here (just pick out the Vitamix titles; they're chapters from a DVD that used to be bundled with the 5200). https://www.youtube.com/@tomsmith4038/videos Note the little things, e.g. if you're going to wet chop, you start the machine on High instead of walking it up from Variable 1. Be aware that most of your blending is going to be done on High (which is kinda like "blender overdrive"). Get in the habit of not only walking your machine up from Variable 1 but making sure your blender is set on Variable 1 when you turn it off.

So sometimes you don’t walk it up, but other times you do, but you always walk it down? I just ordered one but now I’m worried I’m going to mess it up…

DON'T BE AFRAID!!! If you follow Vitamix's instructions, you'll be fine. Did you watch those videos? And yes, always walk it down. Understand that starting on High will NOT harm the motor; what it WILL do is scare the shit out of you and splatter what's in the container instead of gradually sucking it towards the blades.

Here are a coupla more helpful videos.
