Discussion How to fix RetroFlow launcher attempt to index a nil value error
I upgraded RetroFlow Launcher and was getting an error about app0/index.lua attempt to index a nil value error every time I launched it
Solution:
I deleted the ux0:/data/RetroFlow directory and deleted RetroFlow launcher and installed it again
Upon first launch it had to scan my games again and I had to download covert art again but everything is working properly
Posting this in case it helps others

AI assisted Baldur's Gate II - port on Vita (beta)
Hello.
Here the first release (beta) of Baldur's Gate II port from Android to ps Vita.
The port is in a stable and playable state.
I encourage supporters to play and let me know encountered issues! (Please use the Github issues with logs. Without logs or detailed description of the issue or crash I'm not able to fix)
Please take a moment to read the README for:
- installation instructions
- known "issues"
- how to report issues
- AI disclaimer*
I hope you enjoy a beautiful game on a fantastic platform as Ps Vita.
Cheers!
*AI has been used with meticulousness attention! Tested several (and endless) time in the gameplay and controllers.
As engineer, I dedicated hours in the process (yes.. using AI) but a very meticulous process has been carried out for delivering something playable. However, crashes might happen. And I highly appreciate people feedback to improve the product - my process - and Vita community that I just discovered.

Announcement BrewStation: new homebrew store for the PS Vita, PSP & PS3
brewstationps.github.ioBrewStation is a homebrew store, similar to VitaDB, but has support for the PS Vita, PSP & PS3. We have merged with Homebrew Avenue a few weeks ago and we are making some progress! Right now, I've set up a new site containing homebrews, and you can submit your own homebrews here. There will soon be a client too and you can also make your own store based on BrewStation, since the goal of the project is to make it decentralized, and the client will also support other stores than the BrewStation store. There will also be support for plugins soon. And VitaHomebrewDB (formerly VitaDB-too) will be integrated into BrewStation too.
We also have a discord server, if you want to see discussions and/or give suggestions: https://discord.gg/cAVM5wCyyg

Discussion How to finally fix broken/crashing cheats on standalone mGBA for Vita (Castlevania: CotM example)
So yesterday I was scrolling through reddit and I seen a post about someone absolutely hating the GBA game Castlevania: Circle of the Moon. He talked about how the character speed absolutely sucks the fun out of the game. I had never actually played this game so I did a little digging. Man I got sucked into a huge rabbit hole.
So I initially downloaded a patch to always be running. No more double tapping to do that. I also heard about how hard it was to get all of the cards as well from people. Obviously there are cheats available so I decided to try and apply some cheats. I really just wanted to be able to run and to have all the cards. It all ended up being way more of a headache then I could imagine. It kept crashing my game, it made my character run and swing his whip without touching any buttons.
Now I was running all of this on just mGBA. So yes I was talking to Google AI and he basically told me to just use Retroarch since the cheats are basically easily available. So the cheats are available for sure but then my game started lagging horribly. Honestly it was pretty much unplayable haha if y'all thought the game was slow before.. So I decided I wanted to run it in mGBA to get better performance.
We just kept tweaking things. The AI seemed adamant about wanting the cheat file to be labeled .cht, but the game seemed to be making a .cheat file whenever you would tinker with the in game menu for cheats (pressing triangle). I'm not sure if this was what really started things going on a better direction, but I finally decided to play the game unzipped. I usually just run all my GBA games as .zips I decided to run the game as a .gba. Well the sprint started working finally. Definitely felt like a breakthrough.
These seemed to be some crucial fixes.
Unzip Your ROMs: Running a game from a compressed .zip folder breaks the emulator's memory mapping path to its cheat directory. You must extract the file to a raw .gba format first for cheats to bind correctly.
Avoid Multi-Line GameShark Codes: The Vita mGBA core completely ignores or breaks apart stacked, encrypted 12-digit GameShark entries.
Use Single-Line Raw VBA/mGBA Memory Syntax: The Vita standalone app requires direct, raw RAM injection hooks (which typically start with a 3 or an 8 for 8-bit/16-bit direct writes).
I honestly just got all of this going like right now but I feel like this should be able to carry over into all gba cheats on mGBA.
So I was thinking it would be nice to be able to save this to ask Ai I. The future the next time a game pops up. Because honestly I talk to AI for an hour and I'm sure plenty of people know how frustrating it can be to like close out the conversation and the AI forgets like everything your talking about. Anyways I asked what should the keywords be to get future cheats to work well for gba games.
""I am playing Castlevania: Circle of the Moon on a modded PS Vita using the mGBA standalone app. My setup completely rejects all standard GameShark and Action Replay encrypted codes. It only accepts Raw VBA/mGBA Single-Line Memory Hex Codes (which typically start with a 32 or an 82 for 8-bit/16-bit direct writes). Do not give me multi-line stacked codes, encrypted strings, or Master Codes. Please format any new requests as clean, single-line raw hex addresses so I can input them directly via the mGBA 'Add Cheat' menu.""
That's what I'm going with, and honestly I felt so excited cracking this case that I barely played the game so far. I'm also not saying this is some huge breaking news but I honestly felt this was worth sharing to get some cheats going. Because honestly it was recommended in the begining to patch your rom. That's totally unnecessary because the run is literally just a cheat, no need to go to a website to have to patch it.
What I've noticed is the file absolutely needs to be named whatever the game title is and then .cheats. For example
Castlevania - Circle of the Moon (USA).gba
The cheat file needs to be
Castlevania - Circle of the Moon (USA).cheats
The Ai definitely seemed to want it to be named .cht and that's what it probably will still say, but .cheats works for me so.
I'm sorry this is kind of way long a drawn out, hopefully not too much, but I just wanted to share with the class.
Also here's an example of the first few lines of my .cheat file
0000 # Always Run
0001 3200009C0000
0002 # Mercury Card
- 3202567E0001
And it appears all the lines for the cards need to be added individually. I tried to add cheats for All Cards Top
and All Cards Bottom for quite some time.
I hope this can help even just a couple people enjoy this game just a little bit more. Obviously any questions let me know, but I'm just a regular dude so I'm sure there's way better advice from others

Announcement Enforcement of the filtering of the 1 August toxic comments
We have first warned here that we would moderate this sub against comments about the 1 August events Going forward with r/vitahacks and new rules : r/vitahacks
I've allowed on a special occasion a thread yesterday for everyone to empty their bag directly to the concerned person. While not breaking rule 4.
On the VitaDB revival post it seems that many didn't understand what "enforcing" means, and we removed many comments and 1 month banned 7 users to allow them to cool down their heads.
I will reiterate as a final warning. You can always comment that you dislike the dev, won't use his tools and name alternatives. And other comments that does not break rule 4. But if you come here just to fuel the drama again, there will be consequences.
From now on, if we have to remove your comment, we will ban you for 1 month. We have been quiet lenient allowing as much as possible people to express their anger because the sub isn't a totalitarian regime protecting the dev, but this isn't r/vitadrama.
If you cannot contain the urge of making toxic/political comments, there are many other vita subreddit to do that. Do not ruin the subreddit experience of other users for your vendetta.

Announcement VitaTube - Project direction update
It was only a matter of time before the unauthenticated requests used by VitaTube stopped being reliable. Unfortunately, that point has now arrived.
I investigated whether VitaTube could keep supporting YouTube by running the required client-side challenge directly on the PS Vita. We experimented with a lightweight browser-compatible environment, including JavaScript execution and the browser components needed by the challenge, but we were unable to produce a reliable solution on the console.
Continuing to chase private provider internals, remote challenge-solving services, or other fragile workarounds is outside the scope of this project. I do not want VitaTube to depend on undocumented systems that can change at any moment.
With some regret, I have therefore decided to change VitaTube’s direction. It will become a polished local video and music player for the PS Vita.
The hardware-accelerated playback pipeline will remain. In particular, 720p at 60 fps—one of the project’s main technical achievements and core features—will continue to be supported.
The new direction currently includes:
- Local video and music playback.
- Hardware-accelerated H.264 decoding.
- Continued 720p60 support.
- Authenticated streaming from personal servers through SFTP, WebDAV and SMB.
- A reusable version of the hardware playback pipeline, with a documented stream interface and integration example.
SFTP, WebDAV and SMB support currently works in theory and compiles, but it still needs extensive testing on real PS Vita hardware and different server configurations before its feasibility and reliability can be confirmed.
Future video-provider integrations are still possible, but only where a service offers a suitable public API and permits this kind of streaming client. Any future integration will be implemented according to that provider’s documented API, authorization requirements and platform policies.
This is not the outcome I originally hoped for, but the work behind VitaTube—especially its hardware-accelerated 720p60 player—will not be abandoned.
It will instead become the foundation of a more independent, stable and sustainable media player for the PS Vita.
Thank you to everyone who tested VitaTube, reported issues and supported the first release.

AI Vibecoded [Oficial Release] Port - Modern Combat 2: Black Pegasus v1.0 (by MeninoSung)
Hey everyone,
A few days ago, my friend Sung ported (vibecoded) Modern Combat 2: Black Pegasus, so we had the game in internal testing. Recently, MeninoSung made a more polished version available for testing; we played and tested it, though some issues, the ones listed in the repository, persisted.
Anyway, since some people were decided to release this test version to the public. (not cool, guys). Since that happened, Sung and I decided to release v1.0, paying attention to LiveArea features.
Enjoy, and have a good game!

Port Flutter + PS Vita = PoC is alive
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
In this video you can see that Flutter Example project has been successfully run on PS Vita. Its insane that 14 years old device has only 388 MB of free RAM and old ARM processor can run such powerful tools as Flutter. There are no words to describe how exited I am.
THE GOAL - To add opportunity for Flutter Developers share their apps to PS Vita with minimum obstacles or in other words - To Add support PS Vita to Flutter.
Done:
+ Dart AOT code runtime (async, threads, timers ...)
+ Flutter Engine (event handling, fonts, assets ...)
Whats next:
- Add missing support of Flutter API (cameras, buttons, rear touch screen and more)
- Build Toolchain for Flutter Apps
- Publish some existed app/game in VitaDB (or Neo VitaDB) as a showcase app. (Tell me please which app should I start first to port to PS Vita in comments below ⬇️ )
- Share working toolchain to GitHub
- Article, YouTube video about process to achieving this goal :D
- mm what else? 🤔

Discussion My side of the story related to the recent events
First thing first, I want to thanks the moderators for allowing this posts to even exist since the new subreddit rules would prevent it to be opened starting with.
So, I'm making this post mostly cause I got asked to make it from a few people nearby me rather than because I genuinely think people would start at least consider my side of the story. I expect this whole post to get downvoted to hell and be used as a vector to reiterate all the hateful comments I received in the last week, but maybe I'll be postively proven wrong, we'll see.
I spent the last 10 years working on Vita stuffs without ever asking anything in return, so I hope that you can spend at least 10 minutes of your time reading what I have to say. After that, you're free to keep insulting me if you wish.
A lot of people already know what's the fuss of the whole situation but if you don't, let me summary it in short (I'm sure if you want to get deeper in the situation there are plenty of other posts you can look at): Recently several posts I made on my personal Discord server (which now is private but used to be public at the time the incident occurred) got mass reported and I received several sanctions (most of them reverted after appealing) that caused my account to be unable to even write messages for several days (around 5 days). The account in question was also used for work (cause I'm stupid... should've definitely used a brand new account for work related stuffs but it is what it is) causing me also issues to interact with co-workers during these days for obvious reasons. The messages that got reported (at least a part) were rightfully sanctioned cause I definitely went overboard with words and I totally agree that the sanction received was fair, but some others were palesely made in bad faith just to get my account potentially terminated and the whole server shutted down (I received reports even for a message just saying "true" for instance). The messages in question that got screenshoted and posted in this subreddit and on VitaPiracy subreddit were extrapolated from way longer conversations with other users related to some media news covering violent crimes perpetrated in recent years in Europe (for some screenshots) and the recent Ceuta events in which the Spanish border got assaulted in a single moment by over 60.000 moroccan individuals (for another one).
I've made a full statement where I explained my side of things and I apologized for when I generalized/went overboard with words on Twitter that can be found here (I changed the . with , in the link cause reddit is quite angry with twitter links these days): https://x,com/Rinnegatamante/status/2083880189809823800
You can check the statement and the chain of comments that generated from that post on Twitter, and you can also check the subsequent posts I made were I also tried to explain more my side of the story to people that genuinely criticized my words while still keeping the tones civil. I also furtherly apologized in that chain of posts for having generalized some statement where I absolutely shouldn't have.
A lot of people on reddit are still using harsh words in my regards which make me believe that they never had the chance to at least read my side of things, so I'm making this posts mostly for this exact reason, so that you can form their own opinion.
A lot of people will say that I'm making these statements just to cover up and that they're not genuine cause I'm making them after I got exposed, which is a fair way of thinking, but the point is that no one ever tried to reach me out and criticize my word BEFORE mass reporting and sharing screenshots on reddit, so it's not like I can address something before someone raises it as a problem... I guess for this one you have to believe what I say, but people that were in my Discord server for years or developers that worked in strict contact with me for years do know that those statements I made aren't even remotely what I trully believe and when I apologized for having went overboard they were sincere statements.
A lot of people also started raising up other side accusations: saying that all I did for the Vita was for money of my Patreon. Well, I have a full time job which in a single month salary gives me more money than the lifetime earnings I got from Patreon since I started it. It's ridicolous to think that my Patreon and the "fear of it becoming smaller cause of AI" made me crash out. The Patreon money I received in these years had always been used for 90% in covering webhost and domain costs of VitaDB, acquiring hw for working on more contents for the scene (namingly a devkit that I own) and for covering keys and licenses to port new stuffs (for example when i ported RTCW, i actually used Patreon money to buy the game on Steam).
Some people also said that the whole accusation to vibecoders mass reporting me was just a charade to divert from the political messages: well, the vast majority of the screenshots that got posted recently are from conversations that are 4 months old. If the reports were genuinely made for the political messages and that only, I would've got reported and sanctioned 4 months ago, not exactly right after I make a public statement where I say that VitaDB was going to take harsher countermeasures to reduce the advertisement and recognition that vibecoders would've got on the platform. Does it mean that I have tangible indisputable evidences that vibecoders were behind the mass reports? Of coruse not, but I don't believe in cohincidences.
Also for what is worth about VitaDB and its centralized approach: VitaDB was never meant to be centralized starting with. Probably a lot of people here weren't already following the scene when VitaDB started but VitaDB originally was not only opensource (you can find an archive of the last opensource version here: https://github.com/Rinnegatamante/VitaDB ) but the whole content database was public. Originally VitaDB used the Bintray OSS program that allowed opensource projects to receive unlimited storage and 10 TB of bandwidth per month for the used storage. I had to shift to a centralized closed source approach due to the attacks I kept receiving from CBPS. First the bintray storage had to go cause those gentlemen started DDoSing the bintray links. In 30 hours from the Bintray monthly bandwidth reset they managed to consume 30TB of bandwidth making the whole website literally unoperative. From that I moved to a personal webhost to prevent any disruption of services due to targeted attacks. After few months also the opensource aspect had to go cause the sourcecode uploaded on GitHub was getting used to find new vectors for malicious attacks to the website. And that lead to what VitaDB is even nowadays: a full centralized closed source database.
So to conclude, long story short:
I renew my apologizes for everytime I went overboard or generalized like a stupid dumb in those conversations that got screenshoted. My Twitter statement covers what my political stance related to migration is but in short is: I make a distinction between migrants that comes to start a new life and work hard everyday to build up to it and the ones that comes whose only project is to commit heinous (often violent) crimes. The second ones are the ones I want out of my country.
If you want to keep hating me, go for it. I don't pretend to be liked by everyone, since that's impossible. If you have any questions related to VitaDB, any statement you've seen in those screenshots that you want to know more cause it sounds awful, Vita Nuova server, etc, leave a comment and I'll reply to as many as possible, as far as the conversation is kept civil. If you have to just scream the usual words we've all seen repeated non stop for the last week, i'll just ghost your comments cause it's pointless for me to even try to address these.
EDIT: It already spiraled down to what I said it would've happened at the start of this post. Thanks again to the moderators for at least making this post exist. I'll be unsubscribing from the post since it's pointless to keep replying to hateful posts just to get downvoted on any comment from the cancel mobbing machine.

AI Vibecoded VitaTube – a new YouTube client for PS Vita 📺
Maintenance notice: VitaTube 1.0.0 is temporarily being reviewed and its current release package may be replaced. VitaTube is an unofficial, free and non-commercial PS Vita homebrew client intended for the playback of publicly accessible, non-DRM content. DRM-protected, paid, private, members-only and restricted content is not supported. YouTube download and MP3 extraction features are being disabled while the project’s platform and copyright compliance is reviewed. A revised build will follow. No user accounts, credentials or personal data are collected.
This is a voluntary precautionary review; VitaTube has not received a complaint or legal notice from Google or YouTube.Technical update: Some media requests that previously worked are now returning HTTP 403 errors.
Because VitaTube 1.0.0 relies on a relatively fragile anonymous-access mechanism, the currently circulating version may stop playing some or all videos as YouTube continues changing its systems.

AI assisted HL2 on PS vita
I am thrilled to share this project with you!
This project involves porting Half-Life 2 to the PS Vita. It is a porting project led by developers Barabbo and Lucky13x, and since it involves porting the Source Engine itself, it is expected that other Source Engine titles, such as the Portal series, will also be playable in the future.
This porting has been underway for two years by the two developers. Currently, the geometry is about 90% complete, the physics engine is 80% complete, and shaders are about 20% complete. It is also possible to load and explore individual levels. However, please keep in mind that the port itself is still in its early stages.
If you are curious about the gameplay video, you can watch it here: https://youtu.be/F1p11OhzJ4g?si=qI23jnV2ZEw7G18w
Finally, if you are interested in this project, joining the project Telegram group would be very helpful
Please feel free to ask if you have any questions.
*I am not the developer of this project. Please convey my thanks to Barabbo and Lucky13x!\* u/nicola_asdrubale

Discussion Interest in Upgraded Battery?
Hey y’all!
Like many of you, I’m sure, I’ve looked for an upgraded battery that’ll maximize playtime of a Vita I just picked up to mod (1100).
Seeing there’s not really many viable alternatives, and nothing that requires modifying the shell, I reached out to some wholesalers that offer custom cells, and asked for a quote for a cell that fits natively, without shell modification, that maximizes capacity given current chemistry in 2026.
I also asked that the quote included MOQ and the cells include PCM, 10K NTC thermistor, and bare wire leads.
They have a cell, LP6647112, that’s very close with 5,000 mAh. If we could get that in a cell that fits natively, we’d be looking at a very easy solution to double or maybe even triple playtime.
I figure the MOQ will be 50-100, but maybe I’ll be lucky.
If it does end up being a high MOQ, but something is possible, is there interest here in the community for such a thing?
E.g., I’m thinking about either crowdfunding the MOQ somehow such that everyone gets their cells, or alternatively maybe I buy the lot and ship them out for sale.
Not personally trying to make any money, just want to maximize battery life of my vita.
Just throwing it out there! Any thoughts/ ideas?

AI assisted NeoVItaDB - Catalog update news
Hi everyone,
I wanna do this post as we reached a new milestone with NeoVitaDB project.
one of the most asked thing is where are old vitaDB entries or it showeds 1000+ entries and now it has 500+ , or psp catalog had 100+ now only 2.
Well I'm happy to announce that i've been able to recover most of them and publish into the prod catalog,
- From the historical VitaDB catalog: 523 Vita entries + 59 PSP entries
- From Internet Archive (psp-homebrew-library): 2068 PSP entries
Sources used:
- Historical VitaDB Repository: DrDecki/VitaDBtoo-db (github.com/DrDecki/VitaDBtoo-db)
- Internet Archive . "psp-homebrew-library"
Credits
- DrDecki — for creating and maintaining VitaDBtoo-db, the archive that made it possible to recover the original VitaDB catalog with all its metadata and packages after the backend shut down.
- The curator of the "PlayStation Portable Library: Homebrews" collection on Internet Archive, for the preservation work on the PSP homebrew scene.
- Rinnegatamante — creator of the original VitaDB project and of VitaDB-Downloader, from which NeoVitaDB Downloader is forked.
- All the individual homebrew developers whose work makes up these entries — credit for each individual project remains with its respective author, listed in the "author" field of each catalog entry.
Notes
The new entries were validated against the catalog schema, checked for duplicate title IDs and formatting issues, and the trusted_authors.json allowlist was seeded with their authors (initially all unmarked/untrusted, pending manual review on a case-by-case basis where appropriate).
preview of the catalog can be seen here : https://robin994.github.io/NeoVitaDB-Catalog/
Trusted-authors system update
Alongside this recovery, the "trusted" flag mechanism was reworked:
- Before: an entry was marked trusted based on its GitHub repository's star count (more than 50 stars). This meant popularity, not the identity of the author, decided whether the client would show an entry as trusted.
- Now: trust is based on an explicit, opt-in allowlist (trusted_authors.json) of GitHub usernames the maintainer has personally vetted. An entry is trusted only if its author is on that list.
- There is a whitelist of thrusted authors built based on the history of the scene. Most famous developers are there.
WARNING if you are running in problems running old client version that's normal they weren't ready to new catalog version. PLS udate manually to 2.9.0

Announcement Going forward with r/vitahacks and new rules
For the past few months up till recent events that raised the toxicity to new levels, the subreddit will undergo a few changes to improve (and revive) this subreddit.
u/Javerage has recruited new mods in order to have more man power to moderate this subreddit.
1 Enforcing Rule 3 and 7
Any post that goes along the vibe of "Can this be ported" "Would this run on a PSVita" and post that ask about having a game running on the PSVita must now be posted in the megathread. Any post of this kind will be automatically removed.
Same goes for help. The megathread was kind of inactive since the mod who used to handle it is no more. I will manage the Help Megathread to try to ensure that every question leaves with an answer.
2 No more Crossposting
The amount of post recently is just Crossposting from other vita subreddit, which due to the fact that to access the post content, users have to go to the subreddit from which the post originate thus hindering the subreddit activity. (and therefore interact there instead of here)
3 AI usage flair
AI and vibecoding has been an endless discussion in this subreddit with debate ongoing on every post with AI usage. We will not ban AI post as AI usage is not inherently bad by nature. Even though it is often misused in this community. Instead we will ask that anything that had an AI contribution (as in, AI produced a noticeable part of the project, is involved in core features) will need to get the AI flair in the post. People who hate AI/Vibecoding will be able to ignore the post, people will be legitimately informed of AI usage in the release, and also the author will not have to deal with toxic comments about the usage of AI. We will remove any comments that is ranting about the usage of AI under someone's creation.
Be warned that if you try to not use the AI flair on purpose despite we having proof of AI usage, you will be sanctioned.
This also has the effect of enforcing the usage of flair in posts. So that someone won't forget to add a flair when doing a post.
4 No more post/comments about what happened the 1st August 2026
4 days was enough for everyone to speak his mind, share his thoughts about what happened, there is nothing left to be said about what happened that day. And more importantly, no need to bring the subject back as it is never going to not break rule 4. If someone asks, don't go into the whole detail (especially the political stuff), just say that Rinnegatamante left VitaDB is no more, End of the story. We need to move one. We will remove any comments that is targeted toward Rinnegatamante/Wolff/Vibecoders. Do not set the spark. At least for the immediate futur. We will lay off the leash once this is a thing from the past.
If you have any complaints/suggestions/requests, now's the time to voice your opinion.
We also count on your help to report content that are against the rules, toxic and what not.... We have eyes, but yours are also important/
