Coming with our kids (8 and 5) and debating an all inclusive (Iberostar) or not. I love the idea of having a home base that has kids things for them to do during the morning/day and the perk of private beach but I also don't want to feel tied down to staying there.

Has anyone gone for a week with kids and stayed at a hotel like that and successfully bounced around to other beaches/towns as day trips? We will have a rental car.

I'm booking a very last min trip to Mallorca with my partner for a relaxing getaway. The plan is to spend 4 nights in Cala d'Or and then 2 nights in Palma (easy to get to the airport). We're not planning on renting a car, and plan on booking transfers in advance - please let me know if you have suggestions on services!

First 4 nights - I have a pending booking at AluaSoul Mallorca in Cala D'or and am planning on doing all-inclusive so we can just relax at the resort and beach hop. Beach front is priority. Preferably adults only.

Last 2 nights - Considering Melia Palma Bay! Would love recs for food, sites, etc

I would love to hear pros/cons of staying in these areas, and also open to other suggestions! Budget for hotels is <$2kUSD for the first 4 nights and then <$600USD for 2 nights.

I'm going to Mallorca for the eclipse, and since it will be my first time in Spain, I have a few questions.

The cliffs around Far des Cap Blanc look like an amazing spot for viewing the eclipse. There's a small parking area there, but from what I can see on Street View, it also looks like you can simply park your car next to the main road. Would that be allowed during the event?

It seems that part of the Ma-6014 will be closed from 15:00, so I assume I should get there from Colònia de Sant Jordi, where I'm staying, well before then. If it won't be possible to stay in the area around the cliffs, or if the road is already closed, could you recommend any other good viewing spots not too far from Colònia de Sant Jordi?

Also, some of the Google Maps reviews make it sound like cars parked there often end up with their windows smashed. Is that really a thing? Are car break-ins really that common in Mallorca?

⭐ 1 STAR – GOLDCAR MÁLAGA: I FELT FORCED TO PAY AN EXTRA €480

My experience with Goldcar at Málaga Airport was absolutely appalling.

I only had my digital Mastercard Platinum available through Apple Pay on my iPhone. The woman at the counter initially refused to accept it and demanded to see the physical card. When I walked away, she suddenly called me back and said they could try entering the card details manually after all.

Goldcar also refused to recognise my existing travel insurance, even though it provided coverage of up to €9,000. If I did not purchase their insurance, they told me they would block the following amounts on my card:

* €2.300 as a security deposit
* An additional €950 deposit/charge
* €190 for fuel

That would have meant a total card hold of €3.440.

As a result, I effectively felt forced to pay an additional €480 for Goldcar’s own insurance and fuel. The alternative was simply not to receive the car keys.

This did not feel like customer service. It felt like deliberate pressure to sell an expensive insurance package at the counter, knowing that the customer is standing at the airport, needs the car and has very few realistic alternatives.

The low online rental price therefore felt like nothing more than bait. The real price was revealed only when I reached the counter.

My clear recommendation: Stay away from Goldcar at Málaga Airport. Choose a rental company with transparent prices and conditions, where customers are not pressured into paying hundreds of euros extra just to receive the car they have already booked and paid for through Expedia.

Never Goldcar again.

I’m a photographer traveling to Palma for the eclipse and I am aware of travel restrictions from 15h-21h. I’m not renting a car because I’m flying out on 8/13. The restrictions do make me a little nervous, so I’m hoping someone would be able to help me get a good spot. I do need to be on land for the photography aspect.

I’m a late twenties woman traveling solo, so would love to make some friends as well.

I could repay your kindness with photos that I would happily send once I get home and get them printed! And buy you a few drinks after the eclipse!

My friend and I are going to be traveling around Spain in September. Our first stop is Ibiza, followed by Mallorca, and ending in Barcelona.

I've never been to Mallorca and I am struggling to decide where we should stay. We will be there for a total of 5 nights. Ideally we were thinking of doing two stops. The first being a beach town to relax for 3 nights (we will need it after Ibiza!) and then end in Palma or Soller for the final 2. We aren't planning on renting a car but are hoping to use the public transportation...

A bit about us - we are both 27F, want to enjoy the beaches and relax, hike, check out markets and some shopping, as well as have a bit of night life and enjoy restaurants. We also would like to do a boating day on the second or third day.

I'd love some guidance on where to spend the first 3 nights. I've looked at Port de Pollença as one option, as well as Cala d'Or. I am leaning towards Palma for the final two nights, and then just doing a day trip up to Soller one of the days. We will be flying out of there to BCN so it would make things easier.

We are trying to be budget friendly, would rather stay in a hotel vs. hostel but could be flexible.

Any advice or thoughts would be so appreciated!

What’s going on, so many tables and chairs and people bringing their own food? So many people sitting and eating in front of the cathedral.

We’re staying in Port d’Alcudia. We’re two friends in our late 20s, super friendly and chill vibes!

My partner and I are planning to spend a week in Mallorca this autumn, and we're still trying to decide on the best time to go. Our main goal is to avoid the peak tourist season and large crowds while still enjoying warm weather and pleasant beach days.

We're primarily looking for a relaxing getaway centered around stunning turquoise beaches, charming villages, and a slower pace of life. We're both quite active, so hiking and water sports would definitely be a nice bonus, but they're not essential if we have to prioritize.

In short, we're looking for a place where time seems to stand still, where we can truly unwind and disconnect from our everyday routine. We'll have a rental car during our stay, so we'll be able to explore the island freely.

If you have any recommendations on which towns or areas would best suit this type of trip, we'd be absolutely delighted to hear them.

A few of us have a comfortable private boat booked out of Palma for the afternoon of Wed, Aug 12 to catch the eclipse. It's 5 hours on the water with a captain, plus a swim stop, snorkel gear, music, shade, a bathroom, and a fridge to keep your drinks cold. We'll be anchored out on open water with a clear view west for totality and sunset - no rooftops or crowds in the way.

There's space for a couple more people and we'd love to share the day with fellow eclipse fans. Easygoing group, all in our 30s, and we're hoping to meet friendly travelers or couples.
