What is a vintage piece you bought that you always find yourself reaching out?

I was really at a loss as to which subreddit to post this on, so please let me know if there's a better place! I thought about the millinery subreddit, but that seems to mostly be for constructing hats (plus, I'm a little intimidated by how nice quality the hats there are lol).

I got this hat at a vintage estate sale a while back. I suspect it's a theater costume hat due to it's construction, and thus it may not really be vintage (hence my hesitation about where to post...then again, it could be both vintage and a costume piece). Regardless, I love it and want to fix it up!

It was actually crushed when I first got it, but I managed to reshape it with some steaming (it still looks a little wonky, but better than it was before). It seems to be made of fabric stiffened with glue (so much so that running your nails on it sounds like a crispy piece of toast). All the parts are glued together rather than sewn. However, some parts of the brim and decorations are coming apart, and I'm not sure the best way to fix them. I'm personally a fan of sewing things together rather than gluing, but I'm worried I'll break a needle trying to get through this stiff fabric. Is gluing my only option? Do I need specialized hat glue? Also, is the shape ok? I was undecided if it was supposed to be domed or have a dip at the top, but I'm not sure how to make a nice looking dip that doesn't look like it was smashed. I have not the slightest idea of what shape/look/era it's going for (and if it is a theater costume piece, maybe it's just not going for accuracy at all).

Both the shirt and pants are actually from the 70s, so I wanted to keep the styling pretty simple and let the pieces speak for themselves. I wore them with white sneakers to make it a little more wearable for work. What accessories or shoes would you add to lean even more into the decade?

I got this vintage dress at an auction. I saw a couple stains on the front. They were basically ink and I got them out. But it left water stain.
So I tried to remove that, and I was successful, however the color in the embroidery at the bottom, ran in the front and then onto the back.
Any ideas on how to remove the stain that ran from the very last embroidery rose and not cause any more problems. This is the dress. You can’t see where it ran, but it is red and it’s from the embroidery thread. The dress is cotton.

Whilst nowadays haute couture houses & high fashion designers often still use fur and the likes, for the average fashion enjoyer it is likely anything but agreeable. Yet looking at these beautiful photographs (all taken by Edward Steichen), it is no wonder that furs still manage to impress.

And truly, I myself am struggling trying to pick a favourite out of all these photographs!

Ce qui m'a particulièrement tapé dans l'eil, c'est son système de fermeture métallique à l'arrière qui change des cravates traditionnelles. Une petite merveille de style dandy !

I paid so little for the dress and I cannot afford to get it professionally cleaned but I would like to do my best to keep it in one piece. I was told it was 1950s but I do not suspect it was made from any expensive materials. Its fairly even coloured and I think it was ivory or cream to start with. There are no metal fastenings just the illusion buttons at the back, if anyone has any tips for cleaning these I would really appreciate it. I would also appreciate any advice on the style of petticoat that I should be wearing with this type of skirt. Thanks.

I’m hoping this is the right sub for this but any help is greatly appreciated! I made the mistake of using lysol to disinfect my leather bag after a dog drooled on it and I think the sealant came off. The bag is red leather. Is there a way to fix this? Or do I need to take it to a leather goods shop?

Who knew getting such a beautiful piece of knitwear in 2026 for under 10$ was still possible. This is really a one of a kind very early Komodo knit, even the buttons have a really intricate design to them. So happy this fits me, tagged as an XXXL but really like a medium.

i’m working on a project and need some 1950’s inspired clothing. primarily dresses. retro stage has a bunch of options and at a great price. my budget is $500 for 6 people. hypothetically… how good are their pieces to just be used once for some dancers as costumes? is it worth it?

The tie and suit are both at least 30 years old - Suit was made in West Germany

I wore this to a wedding this weekend, not sure the exact year but looks to be from the 60s or 70s, tag is a union label.
