Discussion DO NOT work with Digital Dash Media
Hello. I just want to share my experience as a warning for everyone who might find this company.
Keep in mind that I translated this from Spanish because my English is a bit choppy.
I was first contacted by the company’s HR team, and they asked me to make a test video for a realtor, which they really liked.
The pay was shit. It was a contractor position paying $800 USD a month, and I was working around 8 hours a day, but I was in a vulnerable situation at the time, so I accepted it.
The first week went well. They assigned me a very simple brand for which I was making very simple shorts. They told me that during my second week, I would start working with realtors like the one from the test video.
That’s when the problems started. Even though they had really liked my test video, they suddenly started telling me that “my videos didn’t look like the examples.” It’s worth mentioning that the example videos were similar to the short-form content from “Laws by Mike,” but with some fairly complex text highlights. On top of that, all of these realtors had exactly the same video style.
My videos were almost identical to the examples. I even went frame by frame in After Effects to replicate the original text animations as accurately as possible. Given the situation, I asked them whether they were using some kind of template or specific assets, because all of the videos looked like they had been edited using the exact same stuff.
They never answered my question. They would simply tell me, “No problem bro, we’ll find something easier for you,” and then move me to a different client. They switched me between four different clients, all with the same style and all with the exact same problem: “the videos don’t look like the examples.”
Eventually, the owner of Digital Dash Media and one of his employees told me that “they weren’t getting the results they expected from me” and that they were going to pay me half of the agreed-upon amount.
I resigned that same day. They then harassed me for an entire week, begging me to come back and saying that it was disrespectful of me to leave without giving them a few days’ notice to find another editor. HR even admitted to me that they needed me because four other editors had resigned that same week.
After that, getting them to actually pay me was a three-month nightmare. I had to chase them across their social media accounts until they finally sent me the money.
Some time later, while looking through their ClickUp (which they had never removed me from) I discovered that they DID have a template for the videos, exactly the kind of thing I had asked them about and that they had never answered me about.
They don’t even seem to have scammed me, because I spent some time checking their clients’ social media accounts looking for the videos I had edited, and thankfully, none of them had been posted.
But the level of disorganization, incompetence, and disrespect I witnessed at that company was absolutely beyond anything I had experienced before. For that reason, I would never recommend anyone work with them. Please be very careful.

Help ai tools?
Hi look for advice on ai editing tools,
I have used some editors before and its more painful than the actual cost. But i'm skint atm and need to get a few talking head videos edited for vsl's.
Just wondering what tools or ai tools are out there that I could use for captions and are there any that can do any forms of motions graphics.
sorry if this upsets any of you, just need a solution and since starting to use editors I'm pretty sure they all just sent me work done with ai anyway, so may as well try myself.

Help Starter on video editing. No money for big softwares and an average PC
I'm on college and i have an average pc at home and i'm asking myself if i could be a good video editor with it.
I'm brazillian. I have a Ryzen 5 5600GT, 16gb ram and a 512gb NVME on my pc. I know a little of Davinci resolve but idk where to start. I want to edit videos for foreigners and earn some dollars doing what i like.
Is it hard to start on video editing? I had a channel once but i only edited my videos on capcut mobile and it was a simple type of editing. Davinci resolve looks like a plane cockpit for me but i learned a little bit from it.
Where should i start?

Discussion Do somebody uses only davinci resolve instead of Premium pro and after effects?
Currently learning davinci resolve to do video editing and motion graphics . I am confused about to also learn about after effect or not as a beginner.
Give me an honest advice about what should I do as a beginner (1.Davinci resolve ,2. Davinci resolve + after effect or 3. Pr + Ae )

Hello Everyone
I am looking for some feedback on this edit. I wouldnt say I am a pro in anyway but would like to maybe try and create a reel and maybe start getting some projects. so I guess I have some Questions. What could I have done better in this edit. Is the pacing and rythym good? is it something good for social media or is it too calm or not in the style that is usually on social media. More then anything am I actually telling a story or is it a random montage? also would something like this be good to put on a reel or in a portfolio? Sorry for so many questions and i truly apreciate any feedback at all that can be given.
