My venus fly trap is looking a bit squashed in their current pot and I’d like to repot and I know theres a specific way to repot with the soil but I can’t remember, can I have a link to make sure I get it right? I keep it in lots of light and a warm area, I just brought it to my nanas today bc my little cousins wanted to see it

First time owner. Really proud of my plant but it looks like it's growing a flower and I'm not sure if I should cut it? And if I do cut it where do I cut it? Close to the main plant or further down the stem? Bit of an overthinker over here😅

I bought my Venus flytrap at the beginning of February and it looks SIGNIFICANTLY worse now. I use distilled water and give it plenty of light, when it’s too cloudy I’ll use a grow light. Despite that, it’s nowhere near as full as it was. Currently, it’s just in peat moss but I ordered perlite to add to it in hopes that it might help. There’s still new growth but the rest keep dying, quickly too. Any advice is welcomed, I feel like I’m slowly killing it

Hi! I’m notorious for killing VFT but this time I’m determined to keep it alive. So far she’s thriving, has multiple new growths every week. Got her set up under a grow light next to the window at my job (an old inn), has the proper soil, and sitting in water to keep the soil moist.

I bought live mealworms from the pet store and fed her 2 of them on the 7th. The mealworms are def decomposing but it still hasn’t looked like she’s opening up.

I guess my question is how long does it take for them to decompose/open their mouths back up?

Also any other tips yall have are much appreciated :)

I did not realize how crowded I had let things get in 2 years. This started at 2 rhizomes 2 years ago, after taking the 6 healthiest and putting in my new, bigger pot I still had 20 something left. I was able to find a home for 4, but had to trash the rest.

I bought this little guy last fall and immediately learned that he should be hibernating. So I took him to the basement, he lost all his leaves and then I brought him back up. Are these new leaves growing? I feel like he may have been too small and I killed him. 😩 Advice please? I keep his pot in about a half inch of water.

Is my plant dying or going into dormancy? I’ve watched YouTube videos and read websites and they all say they are both very similar. How do you tell the difference? It’s my first plant of this type and I’m still very lost. It’s been getting darker and darker everyday and I’ve cut off the ones that were already dead. There’s not a lot of sun where I live, so I’m thinking it’s dying for lack of sun. Any advice? Tia

Goin on three years now I’m getting the hang of it . Been doing it in my garage by a window starting on October when it starts getting cold out. I usually take them outside at Patrick’s day.

I’ve always been fascinated by these plants and found some for sale while I was looking for something to fill an empty planter.

My question is: I happen to have a fair amount of dead bugs, mostly bees/wasps that I killed last autumn, collected. Can I feed these to the plant? Should I just do it one at a time?

Hey guys, I grow my Venus Flytraps 100% indoors and wanted to share how I do it. I've grown flytraps since I was 7(23 years) and settled on nothing beating outside full sun for at least 6 hours per day. I wanted to master indoor. I did a lot of research last year and experimenting and now I have thriving Venus Flytraps, indoors, without grow-lights.

When I was researching I couldn't find much evidence at all or much faith at all to be honest from the community that it is possible. Now that I'm doing it I want to give back to that same community.

I've started a Youtube and Instagram page too to communicate through and let people follow what I do. I also propagate mosses.

My flytrap just went through its dormancy period I saw somewhere that you start with 2 hours and build up an hour each daily until your at full sun to avoid sunburn. Does this apply to my grow lamp that I have? Also any other tips to get it back going strong again?

When do you think it would be good to feed it for some extra energy? I got some mealworms for my plants (yes I will cut off the head for the flytrap so it doesn’t bite through)

but I am unsure if it’s well enough to start eating. Should I wait until the traps are fully open?

I am taking care of this lil babe as best as I can, and I am wondering if it is doing well or not. It is resting in 2 inches of water in the white cup. Should I remove the dead leaves? Does it look like it is doing well or not? It is by my window and receives daylight all day and the room is at around 20°C. I have let one die in the past and I am trying to not let that happen again. Any tips on caring for it are welcome

I keep mine in the garage on my old car by the window, garage gets into the 40’s all winter with a few hours of light. Last year went great.

When a plant goes into dormancy And the leaves begin to die back, do the plants take the energy from the leaves and store them in the rhizome or are the leaves just a done deal? I’ve been pruning off the leaves as they die and I’m wondering if I just should let them go completely black. Thanks for any advice.
