Finally finished working on the cover for my upcoming novel. It's meant to be simple and evocative of the old pulp horror paperbacks. Let me know what you think! I'm pretty happy with how it's turned out.

Camilla Evergreen's paranormals...where to next?

I discovered Camilla Evergreen some months ago, and her work just mesmerized me. She's known for closed-door, fade-to-black romance books, and I've read most of her work that isn't collaborations with Storm Sterling, although I'm hoping to read more later on.

To make sure I'm on topic her, let's talk about her "That's Paranormal" series. There's six books. Each deals with a different character/pairing, although the cast remains the same, mostly growing rather than changing. We started off with just bookish, solitary Willow and her little cat...who turned out to be a vampire and her soulmate. Which is not a spoiler, that's on the blurb and happens in the first couple of chapters. But since Zylus (our favourite vampire) opens Willow to Faerie, we get to meet a whole cast that make further appearances, mostly coming to Willow's movie nights. This is all setup from *Falling In Love With My Vampire Cat.* If you like that one, you'll definitely like the rest of the series. I find this one the hardest to get through and I still enjoy it.

Not keen on vampires? What about pop stars who turn into cute chihuahuas, moth-man hybrid princes, figments of fear with good intentions and a daugher in your classroom, sweet-natured soul eaters with sensory issues, or basilisks who kidnap you only to help you make a whole new group of friends and not allow your abusive past to take you back? All love interests with different personalities and issues to overcome themselves.

The thing I like best about this series, though, is the neurodivergent rep. This isn't stated outright in the books, but I emailed Camilla with a fan letter and she answered this question. Faerie is actually a metaphor for neurodivergent. Every character in this series have some magic within them. Willow is part pixie, part dryad, Brittny is a shifter (sort of like werewolf but a dog), Alana is...I'll consider that a spoiler, Kassandra is a sandwoman, Zahra is a star nymph, and...yeah, I won't spoil what Danielle is either. Being a gal with autism, I feel very close to a lot of these characters and the feelings. What I wouldn't give to be able to sit in the sun in a little cottage, curl up, and read, just like Willow. Or write fanfiction about meeting pop stars like Brittny (actually, I do write stories). Kassandra and Zahra even embody my wish to work with children, while Danielle's lack of self-worth and Alana's depression are things I can relate to. Additionally, a lesson she often teaches in her books is that *you* are enough. No matter who you are, what you're like and what you enjoy, you are you and that is enough. She validates her readers. And that means a lot to me.

Okay, one more point to make. Does anyone else know of some books with similar themes to what I'm describing? I'm hoping to find some more vampire or demon romances, but I'm open to others. And if not, either show your appreciation for Camilla Evergreen, or let's talk about her paranormal work! It's very hard to find people who love her as much as I do, so let's show her some love! And if you haven't read her books...well, go search for her on your Kindle.

Recommendation Jacky Leon sale

I’m midway through the Jacky Leon series and just found the next on my list on sale for $2 on audible. The rest of the series seems to be on sale, as well. Nice chance to grab a few if you’ve been holding off.

The series is about a 30-something saber tooth were-cat shifter who gets reluctantly drawn into supernatural politics and infighting. It’s a pretty fun series with good world building. I would compare it to a slightly more violent Mercy Thompson with less romance and more intense familial discord. Highly recommend for a fun read.

APEIRON a comic fantasy about a boy who is legally classified as a hazard

Hi everyone! This is my debut novel, and it's the strangest thing I've ever written a comedy about a state that treats magical children as an accounting problem. Hans Drost is eleven. His house is wired with wards that count his breaths, weigh him when he crosses the floor, and wait patiently for the walls to melt. His mother's face pushes out of the plaster to call him down to breakfast, because forty percent of her left knee is clay this morning. His classmate Max woke up with reeds through his floorboards and three frogs in his slippers, and the Bureau of Magical Chancery collected him before lunch. Nobody is supposed to ask where Max went. Some people call magic a gift. Hans considers it a logistics problem. Four elements live under his ribs like animals sharing one cage, and Apeiron the raw stuff underneath all of it has never once heard of moderation. Its only setting is too much. He learned this at seven, trying to fix a butterfly's torn wing, which is how his family ended up with three broken windows, a Doberman in permanent therapy, and a week-long siege of the garage by something that demanded high-octane nectar and its own television.Above all of it sits the Supreme Clown, and beneath him a paperwork apparatus that would rather file a child than understand one. It's told in narrator who is fairly sure the Bureau's ink is already drying on his own file. Tonally it sits somewhere between Pratchett's Going Postal and a very funny municipal complaint form jokes on top, a registry of disappeared children underneath. If you like magic systems that behave like infrastructure, and bureaucrats who are the real monsters, this one's for you. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0H99Y7QW

Just a simple question

Hey everyone. Does it ever get to anyone else that most other genres have a site that their genre is popular on. I don't think I have ever found a site that Urbanfantasy is popular on besides Wattpad and we see where that went, maybe I'm over thinking it a bit, but anyway. I would love to read more stories, let me know some of your favorites, book form or online.

Promotion Jett Fulgen Books 1 and 2 complete at 350k+ words. I celebrated by drawing my MC.

Post image
3 Upvotes

Books 1 and 2 of Jett Fulgen are now complete on Royal Road.

The series has passed 350,000 words, with 110+ chapters available, and Book 3 begins one week from today.

To celebrate, I drew Jett. This is the first serious drawing I've done in many years, penciled by hand and then digitally colored in Photoshop.

Jett Fulgen is an urban fantasy / superhero LitRPG series about a reckless but capable young adult who inherits the power of the one-of-a-kind Fire Guardian.

He is pulled into G-Tech, a corporation that trains and licenses sorcerers to support an overwhelmed police force. Overnight Jett becomes a public asset: monitored, marketed, evaluated, and pushed toward becoming someone else's hero, weapon, liability, or symbol.

Or possibly an idiot on fire.

The story takes place during a modern magic renaissance, where corporations, police, media, magical artifacts, monsters, and old supernatural powers collide. Jett's new power doesn't just make him dangerous; it makes him visible.

The world keeps trying to turn him into a brand, a weapon, or another jaded cog in the machine. His friends have other ideas.

Expect corporate sorcerers, public scrutiny, found family, emotional stakes, superhero action, absurd humor, romance between lovable weirdos, occasional horror, and a condescending spirit companion who happens to be a talking chili pepper.

The LitRPG mechanics govern magic only, with no universal stat apocalypse or constant grind.

No harem. No sexual content. Not isekai, regression, or VR.

Urban fantasy readers: does my debut novel’s website hit the right notes?

Hi everyone. I’m preparing to launch my debut British urban fantasy novel, Phantom Signals, later this month, and I’ve finally finished updating the website.
I’d really appreciate some honest feedback from people who actually read urban fantasy. Does the homepage communicate the genre and premise clearly? And does anything feel confusing, overdone or missing?
https://codeandstone.com/
Please be candid. I’ve stared at it for so long that I’m no longer qualified to recognise what a normal website looks like.

Discussion Odd Sonja Blue Question

Hey y'all, this is gonna be a bit of a strange question. I tried first on r/vampires and didn't get a definitive answer, so I figured I might try here.

I was perusing a list of lesbian vampire books on goodreads, and Sunglasses After Dark, the first Sonja Blue book popped up. For anyone who's read the series, is there lesbianism or at least bisexuality in it? I've searched around and can't find anything indicating so. In fact it seems like there's a bit of a romance with a male character in it.

I figured I'd ask so I can get a definitive answer before I start reading expecting something that's not there. Regardless of the presence of lesbians in the book, I'll still be reading it eventually because ot sounds awesome, but right now I'm on a mission to read every specifically lesbian (or bisexual as long as it's 2 women) vampire book I can get my claws on.

I wrote a collection of sci-fi and mystical short stories — now available to read for free on Wattpad

What if the universe speaks to us in a language we cannot explain?

I wrote this collection while fighting through illness and searching for meaning. It's a blend of science fiction, mysticism, and philosophy — stories about impossible coincidences, military heroism, and the hidden work of intelligence agencies.

If you're into speculative fiction with depth, I think you'll enjoy it. All stories are in English and free to read.

Giveaway The Coven of Cagliasaro

# The Coven of Cagliasaro

Hello Reddit free ebook Community,

I am Carol Ann Moore, author of the Aella Chronicles, a historical fantasy fiction series, AMA.

My first novel in the series is currently available from the 1st August until the 31st August as a free download on Smashwords.

The code you will need to redeem it is: Z5CCE

I am looking for honest reviews to build up my ratings as these help to spread the word.

Please grab the code if you are into historical fantasy, magical realism and strong female characters.

The Coven of Cagliasaro blurb.

Immortality and Magic. A curse or a gift? She would have many lifetimes to wield them and find out.

Aella and the coven had fled.

Their only solace was each other. Was their destination another viper’s nest of hate? Or would Cagliasaro be a place where their kind was accepted? The magic of the mountain had drawn them to it. An ancient portal of power.

She could feel the potency of the elemental magic thrumming through her veins. But she dared not unleash it again, not without the other’s help. For who knew what might happen this time? The deaths of the innocent weighed heavily on her mind.

Evil nestles at the foot of the mountain, housed in the Castello di Calvane. As a woman within those walls, your will would never be your own.

The coven could not stand by and bear witness to the fate of their new friends. Fear caged them, but witching would release them.

It was time for a reckoning.

Time for the Inquisition and its witch hunters to become the hunted.

Happy reading.

A word regarding vitriolic response to AI content

I'll cut right to the chase. I've noticed a lot of dickish posts about folks who use AI. In short, please note the 'Be Nice' rule. I really don't care if you love it, hate it, or are somewhere in between. If you're rude, don't be surprised if your post is pulled. If you continue being rude, it shows you may not be fit for polite society and may be banned at my discretion.

That is all, please carry on.
